Todd Rundgren Initiates New Philanthropic Foundation
It is with great honor and enthusiasm that, on Todd’s behalf, we announce the formation of The Spirit of Harmony Foundation, his vision for continuing, escalating and expanding the work ignited by his global fan base. To date, the charitable endeavors of Todd and his fans have been informal, however, inspired by the collective experience in support of the Youth Orchestra of the Lower 9th Ward, June 19, 2013, plans began to take shape for a formal not-for-profit organization.
As President and Founder, Todd signed the Articles of Incorporation on October 24, 2013 in Los Angeles, along with co-founders Ed Vigdor and Jean Lachowicz. Co-founder, Michele Rundgren, adds her indomitable spirit to The Foundation. The corporate entity has been established and the application for formal recognition as a tax-exempt charity is being processed.
The vision of The Spirit of Harmony Foundation is rooted in the conviction that music plays an essential role in our human experience and that music education plays a crucial role in the positive development of young people in areas of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity: individuals and groups alike.
The Foundation will leverage Todd’s philanthropic inclinations and recent professorial activities, as well as his vision, talent, celebrity and professional resources. With his leadership and starting with the enthusiastic support of the global fan family, as well as colleagues, the foundation’s goal of supporting and nurturing programs and individuals that embody the Mission of the Foundation will be realized. There will be abundant opportunities for everyone who wishes to participate through hands-on activities, special events, donations, and much more.
It is Todd’s desire that his fans and family be the first to be informed about this exciting new chapter, however the mechanisms of the foundation and our website are still under construction, not ready to be introduced to the general public. Todd plans on making a formal public announcement of the Foundation’s Kick-Off at the NAMM Convention, in January, when he receives The Les Paul Award.
