indicates an article that has been updated in the last 24 hours. While I have been listening to and lovin' "LIARS" ....I recently came across a cd well worth discovering and listening to if you are into melodic but quirky pop. It's called "SKYMEADOWS" by "THE PEARLFISHERS"... A British band...I believe.. and the brainchild of musician DAVID SCOTT.
He is obviously influenced by BEN FOLDS/PREFAB SPROUT and throw in a little BURT BACHARACH and of course...our hero...Todd.
In fact, track 2 is a catchy little number entitled "TODD IS GODD!" Worth checking out!
It's released on MARINA RECORDS and was released in Oct. 2003.
From Hardygirl66:
I am a HUGE Shaun Cassidy fan and I have a petition page to get his music (including WASP that Todd produced and wrote songs on) on CD. Would you mind putting my link up?The petition can be found at http://pub31.bravenet.com/guestbook/show.php?usernum=2588583687HardyGirl's SHAUNSHINE Site: http://shaunshine.homestead.com/Shaunshine.html
There's an XTC page which mentions Todd (as producer of Skylarking) and makes some comments. You don't have to read the whole thing if you just want to see what they say about TR.
You may have noticed Todd working with a strange looking electronic gadget on one of the cover photos for NWO. That instrument is a theremin. Todd appears briefly in the film Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey.
Todd has worked with The Residents, specifically on Gingerbread Man and edited a video based on Freak Show.
For information on Chris Andersen, engineer for many of Todd's recordings and productions, check out the Nevessa Production page.
Todd's friendship with the late Laura Nyro goes way back to the "Runt" days as evidenced in the song "Baby Let's Swing." Laura fans would do well to check out a site devoted to her.
The UnHerd -- Larry Hoppen, co-founder of ORLEANS (and the voice of their megahits Still the One, Dance With Me, Love Takes Time etc.) has co-produced a CD with David Sancious (veteran of Springsteen's E-Street Band, and more recently Sting's quartet). Together with Tony Levin (bass with Peter Gabriel, King Crimson etc.) and drummer Terry Silverlight, they cut 8 tunes of Larry's, plus Todd Rundgren's Pretending to Care & the Beatles' No Reply in Woodstock, NY where all but Terry live. All sales profits and 100% of Larry's publishing royalties are being donated to Sunshine For HIV Kids Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation which Larry and wife/Physician Assistant Patricia started in 1993 to help HIV-positive children and their families. The CD will be released on national and international scales as soon as possible. The CD is Larry's first release apart from Orleans in that band's 25-year history and has been met with universally enthusiastic praise (from fans, newcomers, radio and press) both for the fine pop music and the larger purpose of the project.
