TODD/UTOPIA AVAILABLE ON CD-R

PLEASE EMAIL ME BEFORE YOU SEND ANY CDRS. MAKE SURE YOU GET AUDIO CDRS IF YOU DO NOT I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY TO SEND THEM BACK TO YOU. Although I prefer to trade, I have traded blanks 2 for 1 in the past when the person is willing to send a sase to get the cds back to them as I obviously cannot pay return postage just to get blank cdrs. I can get em cheaper at Walmart. Also, if you are not from the US, please contact me with any proposal and let me know where you are from as I cannot afford the same terms as to those in the US due to the increased costs and hassle of foreign postage (and frequent trips to the PO). If you're interested, contact me. Of course, I'm always looking for good quality stuff in any format.
Note: CD-R audios. Please call to arrange a trade. I am restricting all trades at a contact me first policy. It is imperative that CD-R audio only CD-Rs are used. Be very careful about buying them. They are very easy to confuse with regular CD-Rs. I will use these exclusively until I upgrade my PC CD-R soon. CD-R must say CD-R for audio consumer use. Please contact me at arogers1@mindspring.com as to terms of trade. Please dont send paper labels cause they make it impossible to dub sometimes due to my deck.

Date Title Source Time
1970 RUNT (THE ALTERNATE ORIGINAL PRESSING) LP SOURCE (CLEANED AND EDITED) 72:45
Track List: (THERE ARE NO WORDS)INTRO/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. BELIEVE IN ME. WE GOTTA GET YOU A WOMAN. ONCE BURNED. WHO'S THAT MAN?. HOPE I'M AROUND (ORIGINAL VERSION). DEVIL'S BITE. I'M IN THE CLIQUE. THERE ARE NO WORDS. BABY, LET'S SWING (FULL SONG IN PLACE OF THE MEDLEY). SAY NO MORE (UNRELEASED OFFICIALLY TO DATE). BIRTHDAY CAROL. BONUS TRACKS: PIPELINE 78. WINDOWS. (BOTH FROM ROGER'S 1978 BEARSVILLE SINGLE). LOVING YOU'S A DIRTY JOB (TODD DUET WITH BONNIE TYLER)-BY BONNIE TYLER (LONG VERSION). MATED - BY JACKIE GRAHAM & DAVID GRANT (EXTENDED VERSION). IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE- PLANET PATROL. JUST ONE VICTORY- HELLO PEOPLE
Note: what can i say? say no more. baby lets swing are both worth it alone. the legendary collectors item that has every ampex record picked up and the grooves are counted...i have the lp..this is so important we should always strive for historical perservation cause it doesn't look like that box set is coming anyday soon. bonus tracks are great quality but unrelated to the era. Just received upgraded Runt with surface noise further reduced.
7/1/71 PHILADELPHIA SIGMA SOUND STUDIOS FM SOURCE 63:57
Track List: PRE-BROADCAST BANTER/INTRO. BELIEVE IN ME. LADY ON A TERRACE. I GOT MY PIPE. IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. ROCK ALL OVER AGAIN. EVERYBODY IN THE CONGREGATION. BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. TONIGHT I WANT TO LOVE ME STRANGER. OOH BABY BABY. HOLD ME TIGHT (CUTS). BEFORE I GROW TOO OLD. BE NICE TO ME. I'M FEELIN' BETTER. THE BALLAD (DENNY AND JEAN) BONUS TRACK: HOLD ME TIGHT (WHOLE TUNE)
Note: this is simply the first ever solo todd performance broadcast live on philly station wmms. the quality is first rate (recorded from frank bubnicks best ever quality cassette-thanks frank..)and its about time this show made to cdr. hear the premiere recordings of all of these tunes. the same band as hempstead a year later but with the moogster added-promoting the ballad album! todd (as was the case in 72) shares the spotlight a bit much but his guitar is fierce. yes.. unless someone comes up with a nazz live tape, this is the first ever live tr show thats out there. the mix was done live by jim rowe (who recorded runt and ballad). jim gave us occassional volume bursts when tr played hot lead guitar (hey it was 71 now....) but other than that.. wow..this was probably originally from a cassette source as evidenced by the cut during hold me tight, the same place my 90 cuts on the whole program from a different source. but folks..this is really something special that is preserved on cd at long last. the bonus track (and post banter) completes the parts that were missed from the best source (and come from the second best source i could find). Upgrade realized one step from the master reels (thanks to Bobbo Stanislowski.
1972 THE TODD RUNDGREN RADIO SHOW THE OUT OF PRINT COLLECTORS ITEM/PROMO ONLY. MASTER SOURCE 60:06
Track List: NO TRACKS JUST THE WHOLE PROGRAM IN ONE TRACK.
Note: from the master cd (in box set)
1972 SOMETHING/ANYTHING STACK O' TRACKS (FORMERLY CALLED THE S/A/ ACETATE) PUPORTED TO BE AN ACETATE (CLEANED AND EDITED IN PLACES) 40:45
Track List: I SAW THE LIGHT. IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. WOLFMAN JACK. COLD MORNING LIGHT. IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO. SWEETER MEMORIES. BREATHLESS. THE NIGHT THE CAROUSEL BURNT DOWN. SAVING GRACE. MARLENE. SONG OF THE VIKING. I WENT TO THE MIRROR. (ALL TRACKS WITHOUT LEAD VOCAL TRACKS)
Note: this is odd. it sounds odd. almost feels like it could be one of those machines that takes out the lead voc on records ..but in later places it sounds like an acetate. you can hear the lead vocals are there but mixed way low in places. it is interesting to hear the instruments alone and what a masterful job todd did on the tracks (thats why i called it stack o' tracks, you brian heads out there know what i mean). but it is record one only. this is truly a treat for those who wish to tackle tr's songs karaoke style..awlright! this is really a new one on me and i have only recently (11/99) even heard of it being around....from japan.. sound is super..

Note: this was transferred by sandra winters from an lp. wonderful.. no surface noise..just like or even better than the original lp. tr and crew appear. a wacky lp but indicative of the scene bubbling around the edges of trs utopia's sound. people say he didn't do anything but this album sounds like an offshoot of that band. very experimental at the time. must have for completists.
5/3/73 C.W. POST UNIVERSITY NEW YORK AUDIENCE SOURCE 71:07

Note: only one known. A real strange affair with tony and hunt sales. As was the case with all of the early utopia line ups., background vocals were lacking but a great set list.
5/3/73 CW POST UNIVERSITY, NY AUDIENCE SOURCE (EDITED IN HOME STUDIO) 72:45
Track List: CD ONE: SAME LIST AS ABOVE PLUS BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED.
Note: this makes three seperate versions of this and i cant tell which is better..the tape is so-so so that explains it..the last song is only on the bubnick/russo version. i did a transfer and another came from japan. although each colors the sound slightly different, i really can't tell much difference between em all.

THE IKON. NO1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR . IS IT MY NAME?. HUNGRY FOR LOVE (*). JUST ONE VICTORY (*).
Note: this combo was again a frank b/paul russo project that culls most of this from toronto. this is a great sounding and complete document. probs are that recordings from that era are challenged by age and technology (house sound, rec equip). that being said, frank and paul cleaned this up to make it sound as good as possible.

Note: maybe shouldn't have done this one. Problem is is that there are few better old tapes. This one has surge problems throughout. Sound is bearable but not the best for sure. This is the best copy i know of out there.
11/74 CINCINNATI EMERY AUDITORIUM + BONUS TRACK AUDIENCE SOURCE 72:53
Track List: A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER. REAL MAN. BASSBALL. ALPHARETZ. TREATISE ON COSMIC FIRE (EXCERPT). THE IKON. SONS OF 1984. DO YA BONUS TRACK: FALL 1974 INTERVIEW WLS CHICAGO
Note: a good friend of mine found this original tape home in cincy. Comes in with shaky distant quality and gradually improves at about bassball/alpharetz to a very good audience source entire ikon with vocals...

Note: this came my way from frank b's tape and thru the transfer of hiroshi kawauchi. real strong tape as you can hear detail on the last stand of the bigger utopia band (w. bck vocs). some phasing, some yap, a little boomy but really very strong audience tape from this underrecorded period.

CITY OF TINY LIGHTS. KING KONG (BY RESIDENTS/SNAKEFINGER)
Note: this was acquired from john pellerito and is surprisingly low on the yap factor being an nyc show. the sound is decent for an audience recording and presents the usual bttb set with utopia- you can tell the band is up for it and the sound is also surprisingly not that distant. bonus tracks are from an audience zappa show in stonybrook (L.I. ny) in 78. hey one of these days im gonna comile a sick cd of everytime willie ever said to the audience from 77-80 "y'all ready to rock and roll?..1,2,3,4..(into gangrene)"..just kidding but he stuck to the script for sure..

Note: There is an ongoing debate as to whether this was from tarrytown, westchester or syracuse. on my tape of the same whgen i recorded off the fm in 1980 the announcer said recorded in syracuse at the landmark theater. i am told by those who own the vinyl transcript it also says syracuse. for a long period of time people who saw the recording truck outside the venues say their show was the show that was recorded. i have gone with syracuse b/c i can't believe the network would make a mistake like this and (as we know from the acapella tour minn and chicago) there are frequently multiple shows recorded and the best is picked and mixed. if anyone can prove me wrong, let me know and ill change it. of coruse this is a masterpiece and must have from one of the coolest tours ever. pre-adventures stuff- i was there at legend valley earlier in the year. great line up. sandra winters worked wonders here. no noise, clicks...missing only shot in the dark due to time constraints....this was the first concert of the decade broadcast later on 1/1/80 across the country.

Note: this was upgraded with frank b's version. the small flaws in the previuos were corrected on this one and the bonus tracks are maintained from the original versions offered above. the only deface live that matters. i love it. Bonus tracks outshine the boot "demo to utopia" same tracks.
1981 THE SNL STUFF VIDEOTAPE/FM SOURCE (ENHANCED PAUL RUSSO/FRANK BUBNICK) 52:04
Track List: INTERVIEW NYC 2/81. SNL SOUNDCHECK. HEALER. TIME HEALS. SNL CLOSING.
Note: its all about snl/healing. the healing album promoted. the soundcheck is not pristine quality but the performance is very good. i remember all so well, tr wearing his bowie-ace frehley outfit. who really wanted to hear about healing in 1981? now put him forward in the new age arena of the mid to late 90s and well....once again he's....

1/5/82 SAN FRANCISCO OLD WALDORF THEATER AUDIENCE SOURCE 78:25
Track List: LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. CLICHE'. IT WOULDNT HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. TOO FAR GONE. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?. SONG OF THE VIKING. COMPASSION. LYSISTRADA. TINY DEMONS. LORD CHANCELLOR'S NIGHTMARE SONG. BAG LADY. DRUNKEN BLUE ROOSTER. WHEN I PRAY. IM SO PROUD/OOH BABY BABY/LA LA MEANS I LOVE YOU/I SAW THE LIGHT (1/6/82 SF). LOVE IS THE ANSWER (1/6/82 SF)
Note: this extra long single cd was recorded by mark wilpolt and he gets a good audience sound. there are some small short probs with this but it is worth getting as tr plays (on 6th) his debut piano solo performance of love is the answer. tony demons is nice and spacey. good deal of talk and hecklers but not enough to be a distraction. i like this one a lot.
2/12/82 BOSTON PARADISE THEATER 2 CDS AUDIENCE SOURCE 63:32/56:17
Track List: CD ONE: LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. CLICHE'. IT WOULDNT HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. TOO FAR GONE. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?. TOMITA-VIDEO. SONG OF THE VIKING. COMPASSION. LYSISTRADA. TINY DEMONS. LORD CHANCELLOR'S NIGHTMARE SONG. BAG LADY. DRUNKEN BLUE ROOSTER. CD TWO: WHEN I PRAY. TIME HEALS-VIDEO. I'M SO PROUD/OOH BABY BABY/LA LA MEANS I LOVE YOU/I SAW THE LIGHT. ONE WORLD. THE WHEEL. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER. BONUS TRACKS: 2/15/82 BOSTON PARADISE KBFH- IT WOULDNT HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. SONG OF THE VIKING. COMPASSION. TINY DEMONS. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER.
Note: this is a very good audience of the 1st tour. i prefer it to glen cove-less distant/talk. still not perfect sound but as close to a fm or board as we'll get-the only fm partial that exists is this short kbfh broadcast that is included as a bonus. Sound is nice.
2/15/82, 4/81, 8/23/80 VARIOUS RADIO BROADCASTS FM BROADCAST SOURCES (RECORDS, CASSETTES EDITED/ENHANCED IN STUDIO) 74:26
Track List: (2/15/82 BOSTON PARADISE THEATER KBFH): IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. SONG OF THE VIKING. COMPASSION. TINY DEMONS. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER. (4/81 AKRON AGORA UTOPIA KBFH) ONE WORLD. THE ROAD TO UTOPIA. SWING TO THE RIGHT. ONLY HUMAN. THE UP. LYSISTRADA. THE VERY LAST TIME. JUST ONE VICTORY. (8/23/80 PARTY IN THE PARK BELMONT, NEW JERSEY FM) COULDN'T I JUST TELL YOU. ONE WORLD. BAG LADY. THE WHEEL. HANG ON SLOOPY
Note: This is one of frank b's collection which was edited enhanced and prepared by paul russo. the first two sections were edited broadcasts from two difference recordings which comprised two sections of tr king biscuit shows. these were later put together to make one program. party in the park is missing only a tune or so from its 25 minute broadcast and is notable for the premiere of "one world" which was played here a month or two before its appearance on the ian hunter/ tr show (cdr from this coming soon as well). tr sings "we're just waiting for the sky to drop dead on the floor...... anyhow, a fine job on three classic period pieces that were kbfh broadcasts.

Note: this audience job kick ass benefit for the vets featured mark clarke on bass, eric parker on drumset. irene wilde features tommy mandel on organ. rolling stone has original keys man al kooper doing it. cale's song kicks ass. tr blazes on no mney down with seldom heard flange gtr sound that he plays most of the nite. a bubnick russo creation. some yap but still sounds full andfar better than nay cassette ive ever heard of this show.

12/26/84 PROVIDENCE THE LIVING ROOM AUDIENCE SOURCE (EDITED) 70:35
Track List: CD ONE: LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. CLICHE'. IT WOULDNT HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. TOO FAR GONE. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?. SONG OF THE VIKING. BEARSVILLE/HONEST WORK. LYSISTRADA. TINY DEMONS. LORD CHANCELLOR'S NIGHTMARE SONG. BAD LADY. DRUNKEN BLUE ROOSTER. I'M SO PROUD/OOH BABY BABY/LA LA MEANS I LOVE YOU/I SAW THE LIGHT. ONE WORLD.THE WHEEL. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER.
Note: A pretty clean audience tape from the rarely talked about 84 winter tour. will be adding the nye shows. we edited out the teptae video excerpts and the noisy bang the drum and get one cd of the ever evolving 84 thing. hope to have 83 madison soon. drunken blue and bag lady make this nice and the pre-release honest work. you can hear tr rail against albert's label probably due to the lack of release to date of acapella.
1985 "THE TUBES BUILD A BOMB" STUDIO CASSETTE TRANSFER (WORK STUDIO COPY) 73:00
Track List: NIGHT PEOPLE. SAY HEY. EYES.MUSCLE GIRLS. THEME FROM A WOOLY PLACE. FOR A SONG. SAY HEY PT 2. FEEL IT. NIGHT PEOPLE (REPRISE). SOEMBODY WHO WNATS YOU. ONE GOOD REASON. SATELLITE. TEARS OF LAUGHTER. STELLA. LOVE BOMB (END CUTS). ONLY IN A DREAM. ABSOLUTELY TRUE (WORKING TITLE OF "COME AS YOU ARE"). LOVE IS LIKE A RAINBOW. CLIMBING UP THE LADDER. PIECE BY PIECE. WILDLIFE
Note: this is pretty cool. tr produced backing tracks. wildlife you know from POV. hear no vocs on these. sounds as if this was the tape to practice vocals to. you can hear a masterpiece in the works along with non lp tracks. too bad it didn't sell. it should have been promoted well.the sound is uneven in spots but pretty good for a rough mix studio cassette. you can even hear the engineer pull the left channel out during one good reason and put it back. if you like album, you need this.
1985 TUBES LOVE BOMB DEMOS, ETC CASSETTE SOURCES 58:20
Track List: SOMEBODY WHO LOVES YOU. STELLA. TEARS OF LAUGHTER. PIECE BY PIECE. LOVE BOMB. WAKE UP AMERICA. COME AS YOU ARE (TR VOCS). LIVE FROM 5/1/88 SAN RAFAEL, CAL NEW GEORGE'S: BABA O'REILLY/THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT (TR WITH THE TUBES LIVE)
Note: a companion piece to the bomb. not as good of quality but you can hear the tubes actual demos and then marvel at the changes in the end product. the tr vocal songs are not as good as the others but what do you want? we should be glad they exist at all. not as much of a must have as the other one but for you who wonder, its here. the tr live tunes (who songs) feature him on vocs as well.
1985 TUBES MOVE BOMB SESSIONS CASSETTES/ACETATES 46:56
Track List: COME AS YOU ARE (TR LEAD VOCS). ROCK THE MIX. THE B- SIDE OF THE ALBUM. THERE'S SOMEBODY WHO CARES. ONLY MAKE BELIEVE #1. ONLY MAKE BELIEVE #2. WILDLIFE. LOVE IS LIKE A RAINBOW.
Note: another love bomb thing from bobbo thru the tubes camp. this version of "come as you are" is the best yet. not everything from the other tapes but what is here is good. no vocs on wildlife but vocs by tr also on "for a song".
4/12/85 and 6/6/85 POV TOUR - EAST LANSING MICHIGAN UNKNOWN VENUE (6/6/85) AND MILWAUKEE RIVERSIDE THEATER (4/12/85)* (SOUNDBOARD- EAST LANSING)(AUDIENCE-MILWAUKEE*) (EDITED AND ENHANCED IN HOME STUDIO) 71:20

Note: this gem from the acoustically challenged pov tour comes from frank b and paul russo did a magnificant job of pasting together a good audience tape with the only known sdbd from the tour. i may do some others but this will not be surpassed quality-wise until we find more boards.... for fans of this scene..a must have

Note: one from a fan and a good one. too bad it is not complete but a very strong audience recording.
12/10/85 NEW HAVEN TOAD'S PLACE 2 CDS AUDIENCE SOURCE 61:02/65:53
Track List: CD ONE: BORN TO SYNTHESIZE. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. CLICHE'. TOO FAR GONE. SONG OF THE VIKING. JOHNEE JINGO. BLUE ORPHEUS. PRETENDING TO CARE. HODJA. LOST HORIZON/WHAT'S GOING ON/MERCY MERCY ME/I WANT YOU/LOST HORIZON (CUTS). TINY DEMONS. LORD CHANCELLOR'S NIGHTMARE SONG. HONEST WORK. REAL MAN (FROM 12/9/85 PROVIDENCE). LOVE IS THE ANSWER
Note: another gem live acapella whole show. added "real man" from the night before as they appeared to delete it this night. sound is very clear and not much audience noise. bonus tracks all focus on the acapella stuff. too bad the interview was incomplete.
1986 XTC- SKYLARKING DEMOS SOURCE FROM CASSETTE 56:50
Track List: SUMMER'S CAULDRON. DEAR GOD. THE TROUBLES. BALLEET FOR A RAINY DAY. LET'S MAKE A DEN. SEASON CYCLE. CHALK HILLS (NOT CH AND CHILDREN). TERRORISM. LITTLE LIGHTHOUSE. 1000 UMBRELLAS. GANG WAY. EXTROVERT. OBSCENE PROCESSION. MERMAID SMILED BOUNS TRACKS: TR DEMOS: FIDELITY. PARALLEL LINES.
Note: Bobbo helped me again to get this one- came from someone who may have been involved. This is a copy of a tape that TR got when he came up with the running order. You can really hear TRs influence on these as these are radically changed in places. if anyone has apple venus 1 and the demo release there is much more in common between those than these version and what ended up on skylarking. fascinating stuff for fans of this masterpiece.
12/7/86 NEW HAVEN TOAD'S PLACE AUDIENCE SOURCE 74:41
Track List: PLAY THIS GAME. CLICHE'. TOO FAR GONE. IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. SONG OF THE VIKING. MATED. LOVE IN ACTION. THE SMELL OF MONEY. BORN TO SYNTHESIZE. PARALLEL LINES. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. LYSISTRADA. HONEST WORK. COMPASSION. ONE WORLD. LOVE IS THE ANSWER. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER.
Note: two week wonder tour. i basically scoured my collection for the best sound quality there was and i came up with this 1st show of the tour. he was a bit scattered and even forgot cwsbf which caused a rushed lcm and lysistrada but this recording is the premiere performance of both smell of money and parallel lines. tr even apologizes for his lack of organization at the end of the show. i have another tape from this venue with a few additions to the set list so maybe there were two shows that night. a decent audience recording from awhile back now...

Note: a chicago nye show which is purported to be the late show.. and todd is drunk for sure. this cd is not for those who wish a perfect performance but this really is enjoyable (comedy-wise).. tr begins the show annoucing " he would take for granted that everyonme n the audience is as f***d up as he is", tr has a penchant for the f word ("if youd like ill be your f****n viking"), talks about $35. a show (in 86!), talks about how Reagan was proved to be a liar.. when someone says todd is godd, he replies "godd is drunk", refers to "pee wee's crackhouse".. just really a fun time and amazing how much he laughs through it.. not for everyone and not meant to demean tr's name.. just a fun cd for those who can take the joke... people say the late 87 san rafael show was the drunk show but this one he was pretty far gone...he does a great version of LITA before he leaves the stage.. no celebration as tr goes from smell of $ to one world (i cant hear the edit but my longer audience tape shows it must be a partial only) the the bonus tracks are period interviews (decent length) from the two week wonder tour.

TINY DEMONS. WHAT'S GOING ON. ONE WORLD. THE WHEEL.
Note: Roger Steel does it again. a great transfer from this 92 one off-one. this cd includes a complete set at the hoop benefit. the first post nh/2nd wind run thrus and a jazzy feel prevails. line up is: rundgren/tagg/workman/powell/prince. a little distant but the only tape i know of. still good. you can hear a faint chant going on during some of the wheel...this is more important history captured. this and star gtr were it in 92 (except ringo and utopia reunion)

Note: one of the first ever nwo shows recorded well and transferred by my pal hiroshi kawauchi. a very good audience document of this leg of the tour (before it ever got to the us). lot of acoustic tunes mixed in as you hear his concerns about working the bugs out of the toddpod. recommended highly.

Note: the initial NWO stop. a great dat recording supplied by barry white to me years ago. i lost track of it until recently. tr seems still a little preoccupied with how the pod is functioning but the sound is excellent. in fact, i should have offered this before 11/23. losta guitar solos and he takes some chances (different solos than ususal). tr informs us of the niners score. highly recommended for NWO fans.

Note: more to come on this tour. This has some phasing probs in spots but is the clearest one out there that i know of. 10/20 bonus was what happened when the toddpod failed on opening night in tokyo. 12 days is funny as hell.

Note: another nwo smoker from the gauss series. tr has a guitar eruption during international feel. he complains about people trying to steal his shit. another ripper in fascist christ. sounds great. some very small probs but all in all a great show. bonus tracks are what is missing from the extra versions out there plus the toronto fm show that is fixated on xtc. i will not be trading 11/24 as that show has too much phase problems with volume flucuation.sorry folks but im fixated on this tour which was different each night. more to come probably. time will prove that this period stands out as some of his greatest work and the concerts from same were the shit.

Note: this last installment is cool. has some flange effect that obscures the highs on occassion but still a good show and sounds good. Bonus tracks are the extra versions of the stuff from 1.1 and promo versions. some sound probs but still vital.
9/24/94 AMSTERDAM DENMARK "AN EVENING WITH TODD RUNDGREN" DUTCH FM EDITED ON 2/95 RE-BROADCAST 69:39

Note: this cd comes from a long 3 fm tape set from denmark spotlighting tr's music throughout his career in dutch.. within this, the above portions of the euro-nwo show were taped for rebroadcast. i plan on completing the transfer of the november shows from central us but this is the best quality you will get of dont you ever learn and if i didnt try on this tour..cliche' is shimmering..as well as all the acoustic songs. hios guitar playing on DYEL and IIDT is dead on and innovative as hell. too bad it was edited at all.. if anyone from denmark knows where the whole show is.. drop me a line, please..
6/12/95 LOS ANGELES HOUSE OF BLUES 2 CDS SOUNDBOARD (EDITED DEAD-AIR) 66:47/65:42

WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY+ BONUS TRACKS: 7/23/95 PHILADELPHIA TROCADERO SOUNDCHECK. NO WORLD ORDER (YOKOHAMA MORNING AND NIGHT VERSIONS)
Note: the band is playing a very early gig. there are many mistakes, loose vocal response but nevertheless it is a clear document of the start of the band that comes around still today. around this time, there was very little rehearsal and a lot of west coast shows would be booked in smaller warm up venues for the first few nights. this was done before this show but they were still pretty unaccustomed to playing as a unit together at this point. Sound is clear. the troc soundscheck is not fabulous sounding but it gives the listener an idea of what went on there before the sweatfest that night..which was worse..the troc or yankee lake???

Note: this duo from the I tour was the only radio bcast that happened. great show. the feed is a little flat from the board but the clarity is wonderful...from frank b's collection..the bonus track is clear.... the cassette promo version of the tune which was recorded for 2nd wind but left off (according to tr) not because of the f word but because he felt it didnt fit since it was an acoustic gtr and not a band song....

Note: this show was transferred because the quality of it is superb but the vocal performance was suffering. cliche is probably the worst all time version of this tune. jessie plays an amazing solo on beloved infidel. playing is hot and the show is not as bad as i remember on 2nd listen... todd just simply blew out the pipes the night before in nyc and this is what was left...a unique show and unfortunately for all of us dc area fans..his last stop at the legendary bayou (it is now gone....)

Note: dont know much about this as i got it in a trade but it sounds very good and was probably coverted files from the liveconcerts.com broadcast. a great representation (like a board) of this tour. as you know, this was the tour when tr started to dread the piano (some nights good, some bad). this aint too bad. very enjoyable as tr is in a good mood and performs well.

Note: from dean gustafason this is a very very early wat stop. interesting to see how it sounded early on. the sound is strong for an audience and the performance is good but as we said above is early in the tour. (2nd show?).

Note: hey my wife and romo's girl were the lesbian couple who celebrated their marriage at the emd of set 2. thats why its here.. no really- the show was a very tight show but the sound (as always in jaxx's) is not crystal clear due to the house sound and acoustics. nevertheless this is a peek into the peak of the tiki tour...sound is very decent but there are some better from this tour, soundwise..

Note: another late comer-great quality audience job from this supposed last tour. this sounds to me like it was recorded near a balcony with very little talk at all. band was starting to cook and background vocals are getting there/on the verge of arrival....this ia another to hold us until todd gets the recordings of chicago, anaheim, ect into our hands..

Note: beautiful dat jobber in grunge-land by mr john bronskill. for history's sake, this was the first us left coast show. the sound obviously was very good and balanced in the cat. you may know john's work from the seattle 98 solo shows...this one really sounds super. the band is starting a fire...

THE SURF TALKS. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note: another great sounding result. this evidently was a poorly attended affair as tr says before he plays a note:"the people are sure taking their time to fill the place up.." nonetheless, todd and co play a charged show and so charged that they restart train again. train was gone after this but if you listen to the cdrs it actually sounds good 3 piece (better than 1/2 twist versions). however, surf talks continues to be a momentum killer (as there just is not enough live playing on it to make it work). those items said, this was a high energy and excellent show captured beautifully. one of the better recordings of the tour. this was the show that kaz broke his foot, then appeared at jaxxs with a cast that was placed on his foot at a dc area hospital on the 20th.

BANG THE DRUM ALL DAY. ONE WORLD.
Note: another great show caught by mike adrian. great sound system, good balance and good show. the pacing of this show wrecked at surf talks but on balance a keeper for sure. im hoping to get a potential upgrade in the future but trust me this is spectacular as is right now. conan is best tv performance to date of ISP. the vince thing was sent to me by charles goff III from lawrence. from the banter, it sounds like the night tr and michelle made the permanent move to the far left coast. VW's band was" steve kimcock, prarie, bobby vega and michelle sang some back up..very loose and fun.

HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note: this well attended free show was captured on dat by my bud jim farrell. jim has done a number of great northeast captures for years now. sound is good. hall sound is present and big but not too distant. very enjoyable. again this show has a small problem in places where trey is the loudest and trs gtr is too low (as was the big challenge on this tour for tapers). the order is a little different here and the yap factor is very low which is amazing considering the reports of chaos that i heard from others who attended this free show. another fine job by jim.
6/26/00 PITTSBURGH METROPOL 2 CDS AUDIENCE SOURCE (MINIDISC) 67:00/57:59
Track List: CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. FIX YOUR GAZE. BLACK AND WHITE. TRAPPED. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. NO. 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. BONUS TRACKS- 6/21/00 CNBC NYC POWER LUNCH: TR INTERVIEW.I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. THE IKON-LOOSE JAM (W/ KEVIN ELLMAN SUBBING FOR TREY)
Note: this sounds about as good as a minidisc can do given the limitations of the tour. what i mean is the consistency of todd gtr being mixed too low, only 3 instruments in the mix and trey, who is a hard as hell hitter. nevertheless, this is not bad. btw, talked to tr after the show and he told cherry and i about the plans for patro to possibly have a recorded thang from this tour.. this performance is reserved and confident- better than what we have from dc and the sound was better at this venue which was small and caverny...bonus is the "surreal (quote:kurt s)" cnbc show where the band plays during a business and investment tv lunch show. the show essentially played a 2 hr inquiry into which other guest was a former tr drummer. kevin ellman proves he's been into investments since he left for beefsteak charlies in 75- tries to keep up but obviuosly doesnt know the 4 piece utopia arrangement played on the show..enjoy. this was recorded fro later broadcast in toronto. Sound is clear. Many bonus tracks.
7/3/00 ROCHESTER MICHIGAN MEADOW BROOK MUSIC FESTIVAL 2 CDS AUDIENCE SOURCE (MD) 34:39/60:22

HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note: this was recorded by marc linovitz via minidisk who did a great job here. you can hear some distance/larger hall size but what is important is that trs gtr is at a pretty good audible level the whole night. the first few tunes were not included but otherwise this is a solid recording and a decent performance by tr and gang. too bad it took the dudes this many shows to figure out todd gtr should be louder...

OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note: great sound system made a good show better. tr was loose and let it all out ala pittsburgh 99. playing guitar a lot looser. jessie shows up for the last 3. really pretty fine and insipired performance. tr even bore down an bit extra on the ikon and then jessie gets a solo as well and shows a little influence from whats hes been doing recently with levin's band...vocs really great.. some throat probs but tr grits it through on key .."lunatic fringe, i know youre out there". this one's pretty decent for an audience.
7/21/00 THE TUBES FALLS CHURCH VA STATE THEATER 2 CDS AUDIENCE SOURCE (D6) 43:35/56:44

Note: new tubes anyone? barry b gracefully caught this dc area show on his d6- trey actually played this show during the doughnut of the tr summer tour. great to hear fee sing these tunes (many of which were tr productions on the lps). small place and sounded like a really fun time as fee becomes the old characters youve only heard about before..
8/5/00 PITTSBURGH THREE RIVERS REGATTA POINT STATE PARK 2 CDS AUDIENCE SOURCE (MD) 46:10/46:00
Track List: CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. FIX YOUR GAZE. HAMMER IN MY HEART. TINY DEMONS. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY CD TWO: TRAPPED. BLACK AND WHITE. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. YER FAST. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY. BONUS TRACKS: 8/3/00 (B-CAST 8/4) LATE NITE WITH DAVID LETTERMAN NYC: YER FAST. I SAW THE LIGHT (BEG). I SAW THE LIGHT (END)/REJOINDER-INTERVIEW.
Note: for exposure purposes, the most important gig of the tour. as tr says, a half million people were there and about the place and tr was the headliner. actually about close to half were tuned in at the start and probably 50-100k paid attention thru the end. they did not allow the crowd into a gated area in front of the stage (reserved for radio winners and only about 1/3 full)-tr refers to it, people are yelling constanly "open the gate". probs with taping here were: outdoor gig (no walls), inability to get close, yap all around (roger steel and i were near the board for best sound), lighting system crashes (many people panicing/scrambling). all that being said, this turned out pretty good. todd had 90 min to do his thing and so, the show was slightly truncated. sound was pretty good for outdoors. crowd response was large on several numbers and todd does a good job of picking out the tunes/pacing. someone from the record company needs to take advantage of this and sell! some records. upon leaving, it was hard to believe that todd played for that large of a crowd (it took forever to walk thru the sea of people there to leave)..bonus is from the winged letterman show which was b-cast the night before.

OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note: super capture by mark steinberg w/o much talk at all. hot show and yes, he plays LIA 2 times. no matter- each is great..the set gets a little standard on this 2nd leg but this is another great sounding show from this tour. tr really plays wilder and wilder gtr leads as the tour goes on.

Note: this was recorded by my trading bud john risen. this was a hot show. as with other tapes at open airs, there are the loud ones in the crowd but this show makes up for it. better on balance than version 2. a hot show/ hot gtr/ slighly ragged voice.-another version was done on MD but distortion crept in-this is better...
