1) Personal
a - When was TR born?
June 22nd 1948

b - Where was TR Born?
Philladelphia, PA.

c - when did TR learn guitar?
He first started playing his fathers guitar at aged 10. Soon after this his parents bought him his own first guitar.

d - Who is TR's Family?
Todd's mother (or MomR) is Ruth, his father is Harry. Todd has two sisters, June and Lynette, and a Brother called Robin.

e - Is TR Married?
TR is not, and has never been, married. His current, and long term, relationship is with the lovely Michele Gray, a former Tubes dancer, singer, and actress.

f - Has TR got any children?
TR has three sons Rex, Randy and ReBop.

g - Where does TR Live?
TR recently moved to sunny Hawaii. Previous to this he lived in San Fransisco.

OH is 'our Hero' - Todd - this is taken from the liner notes of the Something/Anything? album.

AWATS stands for 'A Wizard, A True Star' TR's 1973 solo album.

TEPTAE stands for 'The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect' TR's 1983 solo album.

UT stands for Utopia Times, the long running publication of the 'Nexus' Fan Network.

e - What is NH?
NH stands for Nearly Human, TR's 1988 solo LP.

f - What is NWO?
NWO stands for No World Order, TR's 1993 solo LP.

POV - Persistance of Vision, Price of Victory, Pillar of Virtue, Point of View, Parcell of Virgins, anything you want it to mean.

3) Pre-Nazz
a - Who were Money?
Money were TR's first band. You can hear them perform the song 'Money' on side 4 of Something/Anything?

b - Who were Woody's Truck Stop?
Woody's Truck Stop were Todd's band prior to forming nazz. Whilst TR was in the band the line-up was mostly Alan Miller (Lead Guitar), Bobby Radeloff (Vocals), Kenny Radeloff, and Carsen Van Osten, although there were numerous line-up changes. WTS did eventually release an album though this was without TR's involvement.
They can be heard performing 'Messing with the kid' on side 4 of 'Something/Anything?'



4) Nazz
a - Who were the Nazz?
b - what albums did they release?
Nazz released 3 albums. Nazz, Nazz Nazz, and Nazz III. Check 'The R Files' for more information.

c - What is Fungo Bat?
Fungo Bat was the initial title of Nazz Nazz. Fungo Bat was intended to be a double album with more vocals by TR but the idea was scrapped and the single album Nazz Nazz was released instead.

d - Why did they split up?
The Nazz Split due to management problems and disatisfaction on TR's part, and on the part of the other members.

a - What instruments can TR play?
TR can play numerous instruments including Piano, Keyboards, Drums, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, and saxaphone.

c - What is Runt?
Runt is a 'band' of sorts consisting of TR with Hunt Sales on Bass and Tony Sales on Drums. They released 2 LP's 'Runt' and 'The Ballad of Todd Rundgren' although both these albums are fundementally solo works.

d - What's the story on the Runt track listing?
There were two different track listing for Runt. The first one contained different mixes and tracks than the latter but was replaced shortly after release by the standard issue. See the Runt page of 'The R Files' for more info.

e - What came with AWATS?
AWATS origianlly came as a shaped gatefold sleeve with a lyric inner sleeve, a postcard, and a poem by Patti Smith.

f - Who are the people named on the Todd poster?
The people named on the Todd Poster are the people who filled in the postcard which came with AWATS and sent it in to Todd.

g - What is Jesse?
Jesse is an unreleased track recorded during the '2nd Wind' sesisons. It remains unreleased due to the subject matter of the song though TR has played it live many times. Click here for the lyrics

h - What is Up Against It?
Up Against It was originally a screenplay by Joe Orton for the second Beatles movie. This was never produced and in 1986 TR started working on a musical version to be produced by Joseph Papp. The songs 'Parallel Lines' 'The Smell of money' 'If I Have to be alone' and 'Love in Disguise' are taken from this musical. Unfortunately the musical did not have a very long run and no other tracks from it have been officially released.



6) Utopia
a - Who are Utopia?
Utopia were Kasim Sulton: Bass
Roger Powell: Keyboard
Willie Wilcox: Drums
Todd Rundgren: Guitar
Intitially formed in 1973 with an alternate line-up by 1976 they had slimmed to the line-up above where they continued to release records through the seventies and early 80's.

b - What's the difference between TR's Utopia and Utopia?
TR's Utopia released 2 albums - Tr's Utopia, and Another Live. Musically these albums are heavy on jams and experimentation. The four piece Utopia are much more rock oriented.

c - When did they split up?
Utopia split in 1986. The final tracks they recorded were specifically for the 'trivia' compilation and were called 'Fix your gaze' and 'Monument'.

d - What's Disco Jets?
Disco Jets is an Unreleased, instrumental, album recorded in by Utopia in 1976. This is where the song 'Mad Men and Metal Machines' is sourced.

e - What albums DID they release?

f - Are they going to ever reform?
They did reform in 1992 for a tour of Japan. They also played one show in the USA prior to the tour. It is unlikely that they will reform again though. A recording of the Japanese tour has been released on Video and CD by Rhino and is called 'Utopia Redux 92'.
In addition to this all four members of Utopia can be heard on the Nearly Human track 'Can't stop running'.

Theology is a music/video project that TR is currently working on. It is a computer graphics based piece, with visuals similar to the NWO artwork.

The Planets was a Music video project Todd produced for release on the initial Video Disc (1980's format) release. Basically it was a video based around Holst's Planet Suite as played by Tomita and was created by TR using his newly aquired Video studio in the early 1980's.

d - What is Grokware?
Grokware is TR's software company, responsible for grokgazer and Flowfazer.

OH has appeared in magazine and television advertisements for Apple, as well as using and endorsing the Compuserve internet service. He previously also worked with Philips over the CD-I project.
