The cassette release date is July 11; suggested retail price is $10.98. For fans who can't wait until then, TR-i, in the world's first cyberspace release of an entire album, has made all ten tracks of "The Individualist" available online from CompuServe. To access, CompuServe Members should type GO IMUSIC, click on the library icon and choose The Individualist. Those not having a CompuServe account can get a 30 day complimentary membership courtesy of Todd. Call 1.800.550.5335 for free joinup software. The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) had until recently delayed the establishment of a standard for CD+. TR-i had to wait until the confirmation of the standard and subsequent delivery of the essential software drivers before completing the final product for reproduction and distribution. In a related move, Philips and Sony announced June 15 that they had agreed on a multimedia CD standard, which paves the way for interactive projects like TR-i's to move forward. "We had timed the CD+ release to coincide with the launch of the tour and release of the first single ("If Not Now, When?") to radio. Once we knew the RIAA approval of the CD+ standard was not immediately forthcoming to enable us to release the CD+ on time, we began work on these alternatives to meet demand from fans, programmers and critics," said Rundgren's longtime manager Eric Gardner of Panacea Entertainment in Los Angeles. "We thank ION and CompuServe for responding so quickly to help meet the need and tide us over until the CD+ is ready." ION's final interactive version of the album will be released sometime in August, although Gardner and ION declined to confirm a release date until the new drivers have been received and integrated. At the time of release of the CD+, both cassette and online distribution of "The Individualist" will cease. TR-i kicked off a 3 month, 38-city tour of North America and Japan June 8. -30- 405 S.
