Todd played a really cool more obscure setlist that I could tell some of the people around me were not familiar with at all. Only one tune the whole night I didn't appreciate and that was one I wasn't familiar with... something about a Soul Train....Way too hard to sing, the hardest of the night for him, and the least accessible for the crowd. He could trade that one for only , well, maybe 50 others I can think of. I was glad to hear a lot of tunes that were not his usual that I 'd heard the last 20 times I've seen him over the last 40 years or so. The depth of his astounding catalog with only a short medley of Saw the light/Can we still/ Hello its me making the crowd really cheer was no where to be found: Just one Victory, Love s the answer, Black Maria, Black and white,Sometimes I don't know, Couldn't I tell you,Love of the common man, Cliche', Open my eyes, It wouldn't have made any difference... .wow...the depth of his catalog is absolutely mind blowing.
Highlights included Kindness, Woman's world, the recent Down with the ship, an Acapella Honest Work 3 part harmony with Kaz and new guitarist Bruce was an outstanding highlight and Facist Christ is always wonderful in these insane political times. The final closer of A Dream goes on forever was an excellent way to end the stellar evening.
I couldn't help realizing what a brilliant Lyricist Todd is let alone his composing skill. It would have been great to hear Healing and Love in Action...and Mammon... Wow...an absolutely fabulous concert. Thanks Todd and Kaz and Prairie, Gil and Bruce. See ya next time is right!
