An Unpredictable Evening With Todd Rundgren

This was only my third "Unpredictable" show with Mr. Rundgren. The first was in March 2012 at the City Winery in NYC and the second was at the Newton Theater in NJ, in March 2014. All in all, these are fun shows. Todd and the boys were pretty relaxed and seemed in good spirits. They give the impression of this being fun for them as well, which then makes it fun for the audience.

The first song of the night was Friday, by Rebecca Black, which Todd played at the first unpredictable show that I saw. I had an inkling that he might be playing it at this show, as it was a Friday, and he did not disappoint. I admit that the first time I saw it back in 2012, I wasn't in on the joke with Ms. Black's history, but that was soon remedied with a little Youtube search.

Some of the other covers included Hashpipe by Weezer, Brand New Key by Melanie, The Walls Came Down by The Call, Mara Largo Brillo (Zappa Tribute), Let The Good Times Roll by the Cars, I Won't Grow Up and the Marvin Gaye Medley.

Todd's originals included Cliché, Lysistrata, I Don't Want to Tie You Down, Black and White, I Saw the Light, Born to Synthesize and One World. Todd seemed to have a little something for everyone in this show and I know I had a darn good time. There are a few shows left on this tour, so one would be wise to see it if they are able. I look forward to seeing him again, regardless of the format, and hope that it won't be that far off.
