The Carolina Theater in Durham is a classy venue and its elegance may have slightly overwhelmed the capacity crowd in attendance for Todd & Co. At one point in the evening Todd remarked we were quiet "like a Japanese audience"; clapping after the songs but otherwise keeping chatter to a minimum. Nevertheless, the guys were all in good spirits and gave a strong and well-received performance. Todd said he'd lost his "falsies" after singing "I Don't Want To Tie You Down" but got the high notes back later in the evening.
Not much political chatter this show other than a quick comment after "In The Year 2525" that only cockroaches and Walmart would survive the pending apocalypse. Todd told this NC crowd he had memories of time spent in Zebulon, but it wasn't until the following performance that he clarified that was from when Rex was "stuck" in Double-A ball there some years back.
This was the first show of three we saw in NC/SC, so more comments in subsequent reviews.
