The evening was beautiful, the band was tight, and Todd was in a good mood and in good voice. Band members included Prairie Prince, Kasim Sultan, Jesse Gresse, and John Ferenzik. No costumes, no effects (other than Todd's banana maracas) -- just music. This was the first show I have been to with Ferenzik on the keyboards, and he seemed to fit right in. The set list included Real Man, Love of the Common Man, Buffalo Grass, Determination, Lucky Guy, Can We Still Be Friends, All Jacked Up (Espresso), Love is the Answer, Whatever Happened to Your Soul, I'm So Proud, Ooo Baby Baby, (Some Bossa Nova that I couldn't figure out -- You I Want You?), Hawking, I saw the Light, Drive, and Couldn't I Just Tell You. The encore included Hello its Me and A Dream Goes On Forever. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed that Todd relegated the guitar playing in Love of the Common Man to Jesse Gresse, but he made up for it with the guitar duo with Jesse on I Saw the Light. From the perspective of a longtime Todd fan, it was a great show, covering a wide range of music, played with enthusiasm, and just plain fun to be at. Todd, Kasim, and Jesse even lined up for the signature "kick moves" for the solo on "Couldn't I Just Tell You," and somewhat pulled it off with a lot of smiling between them. Overall a great show.
