From what I heard he was OK at soundcheck but for some reason, maybe Melbourne's freezing cold weather on this particular night, TR's voice disappeared.
I really thought after a few songs he was going to cancel the show, but remarkably he stayed out there, probably risking permeant injury to his vocal chords, and sang his heart out.
Yes, a lot of people were leaving and I felt like stopping every one of them and say "this is NOT todd rundgren of 2013 - he is still a mother fucker of a singer - the guy is just ill tonight!"
The set was the same as every other australian show other than him dropping espresso - which I was actually quite happy about :)
In true Todd form, he apparently stayed around after the show to sign autographs and have photos taken even though he had just performed one of the hardest, if not THE hardest gigs of his life.
I saw him the previous two nights in Melbourne and he was absolutely amazing as usual. Would love some variation in the set, but just happy to see this amazing artist in my home town.
