Having said that, the songs came alive at the show and I was sucked in. The performances from Todd, Jesse and Prairie were remarkable and energetic. It was difficult (and inhuman?) not to dig the vibe, latch on to the dance beat and celebrate having a good time listening to good music among like-minded friends and strangers. (The vodka helped, too.) I was on a balcony overlooking the floor in front of the stage and everyone below me was moving or swaying - reminded me of that scene in one of the Matrix movies, with all the rhythmic dancing in Zion.
Todd was in great voice and energy. Jesse and Prairie really gave dimension to the sound. Collide-a-Scope was entrancing, with the light show being beamed on the building across the street (this was an outdoor venue in Austin). And it was the best version of Secret Society I've ever heard. Not even sure why, it just was.
Don't be an angry bird. Go see the show.
Peace, Love and Little Debbies to all.
