Coach House review

I just got back to Albuquerque from the Grandkid tour of So Cal, which was punctuated on our last night by attending the San Juan Capistrano concert. I hadn't seen Todd live since the Nearly Human tour of 1990 except with The New Cars. Todd never comes to Abq.

I approached this concert with trepidation as I read the reviews and saw the set list. The set list was certainly not what I would have chosen as I lean more to the 70's progressive experimental material, but I love all of Todd's music. I looked forward to my wife's first Todd experience and the set list was made for her.

I am happy to say that previous reports of Todd being on his deathbed were quite inaccurate. Todd was fabulous and entertaining, the set list was fabulous and his voice was spot on. The band was precise as always. The crowd was really into it from the start and chanted for more until the house lights finally came on. We were holding out hope for Just One Victory as the conclusion to the tour.

Show highlights for me were Expresso, Drive and Can We Still be Friends. In the past I've seen Todd kind of run through versions of Hello It's Me and I Saw The Light as though he was obligated to play them, but didn't really want to. This time he played them as they were recorded and offered a couple of variations to Hello It's Me.

I absolutely loved the show, will pony up for the webcast and can't wait to see him again. I can't imagine how great it will be if he actually played my favorites. By the way, my wife loved it! I caught her singing along to several of the songs.
