Philly Spectrum review 10/23/09

It was definitely cool to finally see Todd play in an arena – specifically the Spectrum where I grew up watching sports and concerts from the 70's until the mid 90’s. The band played great – (including a killer solo from Jesse on “Gun”) - and Todd seemed to be having a good time but the Spectrum is notorious for poor sound quality and, unfortunately, Friday night was no exception. “I Saw the Light” got the biggest crowd response and he did get almost the entire floor section to pump their fists to “Stike” which was neat to see. “Weakness” was near perfect and, after the last tune (CIJTY) they received a nice, arena sized rousing applause.

The encores with Todd, Hall and Oates and members of the Hooters and The Soul Survivors was a lot of fun and the tunes they selected were definitely fitting to the Philly vibe (O’Jays, Delfonics and the Trammps!) Overall it was an entertaining and historic night of music – all for just 6 bucks a pop!!
