Four days later and I'm still trying to take in what we witnessed Sunday night in Akron. By now, after a few more shows, the rough spots may have been ironed out but I wouldn't trade seeing that opening night for anything. The energy and excitement in the theater was unreal. I've heard that the sound was not so good in certain spots but I can tell you that from the center balcony it was just perfect. I've said this before in past reviews but this time Todd's voice was absolutely the best - especially during the medley and "I Don't Want to Tie You Down". Add to this the energy he put into each character, the costumes, theatrics, video (hilarious montage during "Dogfight Giggle") and the near perfection of the band and I just don't see how this can be topped. And this was all after the initial shock of Utopia opening the show!! This was a dream come true for any hardcore fan.
My friend and I got to meet Todd, Michele, Kasim and Prairie after the show and they were all gracious as usual. I was surprised at how relaxed Todd was when hanging out and chatting with the handful of fans who waited behind the theater - here he just delivered the performance of a lifetime and he acted as if it were just another show - inside I'm sure he was thrilled!
