Rundgren Radio 1 year Vegas Party

A months worth of hard work and planning paid off big on Sunday August 31, 2008. Three full days of fun!

Day 1

Our group attended the "Sgt. Pepper's: It Was 40 Years Ago Today" Beatles show staring Todd, Jesse, Prairie, and Greg Hawkes with a little help from Denny Laine, Christopher Cross, Lou Gramm and the ever so pesky Bo Bice.

A fan-tabulous after show dinner party at the ever so chic restaurant Simon at the Palms (think Asian minimalism decor meets upscale yummy comfort food with whimsical play-with-them desserts). Throw in a HUGE bar tab and by the end of day one I went to sleep at 3am thinking the night couldn't be topped.

Day 2

After a day of shopping and sun, some of us shared a cab to The Tubes concert and were delighted to see Todd and Michele in the audience. Michele got up to sing with the band during the last encore. Rachel (Todd's Arena bass player) danced on the front row through almost the entire set and got some of the audience off their chairs dancing along too. After the show, I was lucky enough to go with a few of the band members and my new friend Cathy to see Chris Rock at Caesar's Coliseum. We had 6th row center seats and the show was crazy good. I got to bed at 3am again knowing the next day was our Rundgren Radio Birthday Bash show day.

Day 3

It HAPPENED!!! Todd played the Celebrity Night Club in downtown Las Vegas, and it was a huge success!

A few of the things I loved about it:

• We raffled of some really great stuff provided by Cathy Stoia (TR's merch person)
• The band wives were there (and they were having a good time)!
• We had cake....:-).
• A great sound system
• Great music playing before and after the show
• Drinks, munchies, and 100 of the most fab-u-lous folks you'd ever want to hang out with
• A hotel within walking distance to the ultra cool venue
• Every one's favorite musician doing a show that was arguably the most playful Todd show I've seen.

Todd was on the floor during some of the show playing his guitar in our faces. Rachel was smiling, dancing and telling jokes. Jesse played his ass off and blew kisses to Marylou. Prairie Prince was ever-so-fantastic playing drums for the 3rd day in a row.

When the band started to play "The Wheel", I got chills as I looked around the room and saw the crowd excited and swaying to the song, then my eyes filled with tears and I thought to myself, "We did it!".

After the show Todd came out and went straight for the cakes. He cut them into pieces after commenting how much he liked them. Michele, Rachel and the guys were mixing and mingling with the crowd. It was very gracious of them all to hang out with us.

Thinking back on our weekend adventure I realized this was another one of those memories spent with friends from everywhere! This was something everyone there will be able to cherish for years to come!
