Hope some of you made it to see Todd Rundgren on Monday. It was a beautiful night and the band rocked. Maybe not as magical as past times but that may just be nostalgia on my part. Regardless, despite being 60 he looks fitter than ever. For me the highest point was when they opened with Love In Action. They did a few more old familiar ones and then performed the new album in its entirety, which included a lot of strong material especially toward the end. There were about 50 songs I wanted to hear but they never got around to. Possibly because Todd cut his finger early on trying to be Peter Townshend and doing wild windmills. Despite first aid it was red through the whole set. Opening was Woodstock's own Joey Eppard who impressed as usual with his guitar virtuosity and candid songs. On a personal note ... I probably shouldn't have asked about Laura Nyro ... it made everyone feel awkward. But that's the first time I heard him acknowledge her influence. Anyway ... we wish him the best and a big welcome home, albeit all too briefly.
