Austin/Dallas- The Birth of Rock and Roll

I really hate reading the reviews that offer suggestions to Todd about what songs he should include in the set list. He ignored the entire music establishment's expectations of what he "should" play and record back in the 70's. The result was the very music we have loved so much over so many years. Never the same and never predictable. Go ahead Todd, ignore them.

Having said that, on my way to the Dallas show, reliving the most amazing rock and roll concert I had seen the night before in Austin, I plugged in "Initiation." "The Death of Rock and Roll" would have fit nicely into the Arena rock set list. However, this concert is more about the birth of rock and roll. So indulge me, if you will, while I re-write the lyrics to a classic Todd song. (And, sorry ladies for the last two lines of the second verse, but I'm paraphrasing what Todd said in Dallas).

The Birth of Rock and Roll

The other day I made a call to a friend
"Have you heard what Todd's been playin', this new shit is insane
Did you think he'd take his pension like the other old boys
Playing all his old acoustic and/or synthesized noise?"
There he stood inside, Todd brought rock and roll life
And no one dared to stop it
Critics still stand by

I thought we was supposed ta, hear Something/Anything I thought we was supposed ta, hear Something/Anything I thought we was supposed ta, hear Something/Anything But we all got told, "This is the birth of rock and roll"

Fans all got to together and we shouted his name He gave us downloads for nothing on his MySpace Home Page The CD isn't out yet and it's making us sore But Todd is tuning up Foamy for the new Rock and Roll War Jesse takes his side, bringing rock and roll life Just leave your chick at the window This is rock for guys

I thought we was supposed ta, hear Something/Anything I thought we was supposed ta, hear Something/Anything I thought we was supposed ta, hear Something/Anything But we all got told, "This is the birth of rock and roll"

And while he played, we all praised, we all were dazed There's no lonely guitar.

This is the birth of rock and roll..., the birth of rock and roll
