Todd Rundgren, Hall & Oates at Jones Beach, NY Aug 26th 2005

I had a great time tonight seeing my first TR show in the USA... (on vacation from the UK)

Todd opened up with an acoustic Lysistrata, followed by 'let's bring on the band!!'

'Soul Brother' 'Sweet' and 'Past'

-all sang beautifully.. I was astounded to hear three songs from liars... great stuff, and the excellent H&O band added a new twist to the tunes.. Next came some great guitar from TR on Buffalo Grass, then 'Hello It's Me' (Todd mentioned that he is looking forward to receiving the check from The Gap who are using the song in an ad.. lol) 'Love Is The Answer' followed, and a great rendition of 'Rock Love' concluded the set..

Hall and Oates set was very tight and entertaining.. There was plenty of Philly soul (Daryl said 'The Philly sound is what we're all about, and our brother Todd too')

The highlights of the H&O set for me was, firstly T-Bone Walk's bass solo (behind the head!) and when someone requested 'Camelia' - John Oates abandoned the song they were gonna play, and launched into that tune just on acoustic singing the lead.. the band just watched John, and Daryl remembered the chorus and joined in on harmony vocals.. a definite highlight..

Daryl looked and sounded great, glad to see he got the Lime's Disease under control..

The encores were great.. 'Wait For Me' and 'Can We Still Be Friends?' were the highlights for me, as well as the closing 'Love Train'..

I had a great night at the beach..
