Here's the set list:
Lysistrata I Don't Want To Tie You Down Black & White Afterlife Love of the Common Man Hello It's Me Song of the Viking Hawking Bang On The Ukulele Daily Cliche You've Got To Hide Your Love Away One WorldTodd gave some truly impassioned performances last night. I was 2nd row dead center and, although the enormous, sold out Kimmel Center was right behind me, it felt like we were sitting in a small room. To me, just hearing Afterlife, Hawking, and Pretending to Care would have been concert enough. Everything else was icing on the cake. Even old standards LOTCM and Cliche seemed to be performed with renewed passion.Joe with Ethel: The Other Me
Todd with Ethel: Pretending To Care
All: While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Encore (All): Black Maria
Todd was in good humor too. He smiled his was through the show and made a number of good-natured cracks about all the talking that's been going on about his playing. Before starting Afterlife he said, "I'm going to play something I haven't played live much. Funny how so much of my live material sounds that way." Before starting HIM he said, "in a beautiful venue like this, it wouldn't do to give my usual performance."
Whatever last night's performance was, usual or unusual, let all Todd's performances be the same. He was outstanding. I've been going to see this guy live since 1977. Here it is nearly 30 years later and he is still capable of striking you dumb with his incredible musical talent. To quote the guy who was sitting next to me during the show, "Todd, you are so fucking great. You are so fucking great."
