I was trilled for Todd! By the time the encore came, the place was filled - about 4000 people. I am sure he can't remember playing for this big a crowd since the last 70's.
Daryl Hall must be an incredible guy. If I was a fan and came to see him, and when the encores came on someone else sang lead vocals, I would be pissed.
But for me - it was a treat.
For the last 10 years or so I have been torubled by many things in his performances:
1- His voice is usually shot at times.
Last night his voice was very very strong - especially on parallel lines.
2- He does not seem to care to practice.
I don't know where he found the time with Abbey Road ending so close the the start of this tour, but he OBVIUSLY did. Usually there are more flubs than you can count. But last night, he was truly on and well rehearsed.
3- He plays the same basic songs with 1 or 2 new ones.
Hit me like a train, parallel lines (night music version) and looking at you were superb choices. And rock love was especially unexpected and he danced the rock love spin - great to see!!!
4- He seems pissed off at the world for the last 10 years or so
Last night he seemed to be in a terrific mood and really really enjoying himself. I was happy for him.
All in all, a SUPERB SHOW! (what a suprise)
Don't miss it when it comes to town!
