Hey hey! So the show started at about 8pm. The place was already jam packed at 6pm with a long line of ticketholders still waiting outside. Come showtime, a long, tall figure in black took the stage and with Conehead-like cadence declared to the audience: I want to be your lover babe. I want to be your man.
I want to be your lover babe. I want to be your man.
I want to be your man. I want to be your man. I want to be your man.
I want to be your man. (Period.)
Todd Rundgren doesn't mince words.

He's kind, clever and subtle too; all of this exudes from his stage. So we were off... to lessons, I felt. Lessons in honesty and bravery. A Master Class. Todd was on rhythm most of the night too, with the egg shaker. And props? How's a nice set of Halloween teeth for ya. Ew. Why, he's funnier than powdered water! There is a set list posted out there somewhere but one tune struck me. Todd didn't announce its title (I don't think) but sang of a woman telling her 'little one' to stay with her daddy (a carpenter) and take care of him (as she took off with another guy...)

So outside BB King's, as Todd Rundgren was leaving I asked him the name of the song and I remember him saying "Death of a Carpenter." If I am wrong help! I'd hate to be wrong with that one. Someone please correct me. Anyway, let's get the lyrics in circulation so I can tear my heart out; it was that good. Finally, he signed autographs and took pics with some people and disappeared into neon.
