I got to the theatre early enough to enjoy easy parking and a short line. With over an hour to go before they let us in, I made some small talk with several fans - I was the one with the green "Z" hat and Initiation T-shirt, in case you saw me and were wondering.First encore: The Ikon Hammer In My Heart
Second encore: Worldwide Epiphany
The theatre is smaller than Todd's last trip to Denver, but a lot more people showed up for him this time. Being close to the front, it was easy for me to approach the stage and stand right where I knew Todd would be ripping his solos. Todd, Kasim and Trey came out soon after 9pm, and the crowd gave them a great welcome. Todd replied by starting off with "Percy" and getting the crowd wild with "ISP". We didn't have all the problems reported at other shows, but there was still the occasional glitch that seems to be expected when Todd plays. There were minor adjustments for mics, and a short break while "Foamy" got changed out for "Percy" before "Play This Game".
Most noticeable at this show was the musicianship that this trio has progressed toward. You folks that are waiting for later dates will certainly reap the rewards! Trey and Kasim both got their fair share of comments from the fans, including this one. My only disappointment came with the exclusion of "Mystified" with "Broke Down and Busted". But I'll be there tomorrow night -- with hopes to hear those two live!
If you've got a chance to see these three play, you're in for a treat. Don't miss out on it! Say hello if you see me at the Boulder show.
