well the surprise solo show is now history but memorable it truly was. sunny, 80 degrees breezy and beautiful, just like home for tr. the show was the most intimate i have ever witnessed with about 200 people and just a handful of diehard fans. todd looked great in black suit and purple tinted sunglasses, but the real surprise was how flawless his piano (electric) playing was, even after warning us that he hadn't touched it in over two months. aside from broken guitar strings and no backup guitar, the afternoon went off without a hitch. no mention was made as to how this show came about, that remains a complete mystery as Stuart Florida is a tiny little beach town in the middle of nowhere. The set list was great, with no real surprises, just Todd in very good form and having fun with such a small crowd. As follows. Love of common man, Cliche, Hammer, My inspiration, Saw the light(he made a point of saying he missed Jesse) Lysistrada, Wouldn't have made, Viking song was near perfect, maybe the answer is NOT to practice, Still be friends, Free male and 21, Compassion, Bang the drum(he said he couldn't use the ukelee (sp?) on the ringo tour so he couldn't play bang the real hawaiian way, Hide your love, and One world. Even being pressed for time, (it is now 4:02 pm and we are 100 miles from fort lauderdale, site of that evening's ringo show) Todd stayed on the lawn and signed everything from TODD FAN license plates to scrapbooks to dollar bills and T-shirts. Then he hopped into the RV that was rented for him and took off for fort lauderdale. And so did we! Ringo was a letdown after such an intimate, dream come true afternoon, but as always todd was a real trooper making fun of EVERYTHING and really clowning around, especially as it was the next to last ringo show. So two todd shows in two different cities on the same day. That was a first for me!
