Report from Cleveland

I purposely hadn't read any of the reviews from this tour because I wanted to be surprised at the show in Cleveland. Right before Todd & band came onstage, I remarked to my friend, "I hope Todd rocks tonight."

Well, I wasn't disappointed. The "rock set" was kickass! The band was dressed in black t-shirts and black jeans. There was simply a black backdrop behind them. Todd hardly said a word to the crowd - just played. Bandmember John Ferenzik played only guitar, no keyboards. Opened up with "Surf Talks." Great song! This was the first time I had heard it. I was surprised that it was a rocker, I expected a tiki/Hawaiian thing.

Then there was the tiki set. It was enjoyable, but I think it's time that Todd put it to rest. A few Y2K comments from TR - "The real concern with Y2K is who you're going to be with on an elevator."

The setlist: (rock set)

SURF TALKS
FIX YOUR GAZE
BLACK & WHITE
DRIVE
UNLOVED CHILDREN
