Bad Religion -- "New America"

Well, of course, I bought it because of the producer, but the album more than stands on its own merits. Hard-driving, anthemic rock, firmly rooted between the Ramones and Metallica, but distinguished by an overall sense of melody and pop sensibility. "Believe It," "Whisper in Time" and "I Love My Computer" make for a compelling middle suite that sustains the album through repeated listens. Todd's touch is light, other than perhaps helping Bad Religion pull the melodies (and backing vocals) more to the forefront. Aipee Rating: 3 stars.
