Greetings Audio Toddheads! Warren H. (Atlanta, GA. USA) here. Tony Rogers and I have transferred our entire audio collections over to my home in 2008. We (Tony & I) thought my circumstances (A 62 year old, single, IT specialist/Audio Editor guy in Atlanta with lots of Todd Rundgren history/archival collecting since 1972) would be ideal for taking over the 'Library' in all its glory. And, so an 'incorporation' of his and my colossal collections takes place! I now curate this ‘museum’. And I plan to share much of this, just as Tony did all these decades. And yes, I’m somewhat of a Todd Rundgren Historian. I have been 'following' Todd extensively (in all forms of media) ever since I saw (and met) him here at an Historic Show at Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre on November 8 1973. So I know 'enough'. Please note that I say share my enthusiasm. No buying or selling. Nor will a penny exchange hands. Never.

We've also recently been working in collaboration with my friend Frank Bubnick and his well known vast quality collection (you can visit his list by clicking on his name). Some of his editing is unequaled anywhere.
And some late breaking neat news : I believe most of you are familiar with the JEMS group. A bunch of super collectors for many bands’ audience recordings (predominate though are Yes and Springsteen). Well known for their re-mastering prowess and quality. They’ve been in contact with me for a couple of years, and in December of last year offered me all their (originals) Todd Rundgren Collection. They just didn’t have the resources or the time for refining anything by Todd Rundgren. It just wasn’t on their timeline. I received all their cassettes (60) within a few weeks! Most of them are MASTER tapes from the original Taper. They will be sending me all their DATs and Reels at a later date. I will be listing all these recordings here, as I digitally transfer them. With this addition of the JEMS collection I believe these Todd Rundgren Archives are easily the largest collection on the planet.
How do we share you ask? Well, Just for what it's worth, we really don't do the 'snail mail trading' (by postal) much these days. So, if you would like me to share or trade any of this 'Catalog' with you, it would be more convenient/easiest to share in the form of on-line file transfer. Generally, in .flac format, compressed to .zip or .rar for smoother/faster quality exchange [depending upon the size of the audio file(s) we might be exchanging of course]. Hope that all makes sense. I can work with you on 'all that'. Again, write me, and then we'll come to an agreement of sorts. Please keep in mind, that anything that is 'Official', or 'Professionally Marketed', or still available for 'Retail' purchase is not of consideration. Nor is there any monetary means of transaction.
I do not have any rights to, and I am not open for sharing any material that may be listed below that has been commercially or officially released and is still available retail. (It may be listed below for collection listing purpose only). I do not take or give any money for a single item below either. I do not take away any proceeds that are due to Todd Rundgren, family, friends, business or supporting/associated musicians. If it is ROIO (recording of independent origin), then I'm open to share. Willie kind of gave up halfway on Princess (prob monitors) and half spoke princess but still the crowd dug it. During this second set it begins to dawn on you the subtle power and grandeur of the WW and KS rhythm section. By the time LITA comes, its all over. The new guy was spectacular in that he didn't overshadow but did not drag the proceedings either-he did a perfect job. To all the old Utopia fans please get out there and you will be transported to a warm loving place you used to call home years ago. The point is---If you've been there before, I report to you that the magic is absolutely 100% here. You will feel it I guarantee it. Let it wash over you ... now let's do something with it.” |

YES (sorry Matt).I played with it a little bit, and I brought out the vocals and some other highlights. Now sounds very much like a soundboard. And being the fourth Show of the Tour, the band had polished up a lot of hic-ups. They are ‘spot on’ for the most part. And from the Fan reviews I've read, is that it was an awesome Show and the Theatre is wonderful acoustically. And this Gil Assayas is such a wonderful accent! I didn’t need to do a smudge of editing, ‘cause this thing sounds like a soundboard (with the exception of audience chatter). It’s one of the best of the audience recordings from the Tour. And the Band’s performance is stellar. Jon says, ”The Paramount is a relatively new venue in Huntington on Long Island and it was the first show of the tour I could make it to. It used to be a Movie house and looks to be almost 100 years old and renovated nicely. Full up, it has a great sound to what I was sure would be a cavernous room. I had to fly across the country, travel with a rolling bag that didn't roll, take 4 types of public transport, borrow the money for the ticket, and get probed by the metal detectors, but it was worth it. Typically, the Long Island crowd chatted a bit too much, but the music is clear and the support for the band shows in the performances and the sound of the crowd. I cut out about 20 really annoying between-song screams and whistles, including one in the middle of the Utopia theme that was the only spot where they actually pause for 10 seconds, so now they pause for 5. I think that's forgivable. The crowd is really riled up at the beginning of the show but they calm down a bit during the Ikon. One thing I can say about my seat in the 7th row was that I didn't see people constantly leaving their seats for $15 beers. They all sat riveted and cheered the band on. So I salvaged what they had. Shame too, because both are very good recordings. The first source got all the way up to Something's coming, and had battery problems. So we get a full set of the first 7 tunes. ('Utopia' thru 'Back On The Street'). And a partial 'Something's Coming'(2:36 Mins of it). The second source got some good pieces of the rest of the First set ('Monument' thru 'Last of the New Wave Riders') and some good pieces of the Second Set ('Road To Utopia' thru 'One World') with a full 'Just One Victory'. Soooo...Basically some portions or complete songs of all of the Show. Probably comes in last of all the 2018 Utopia Reunion Tour that we have. This one would be to keep just for posterity. And though everybody had an obvious drink, I think the performance is extraordinary/unique. It's a 'Unpredictable' Show. The ambience is lots of Crowd noise & excitement, but not annoying whatsoever. If you're a Fan of Todd Rundgren, then you would feel that this show was just for you. I raised the right channel about 3-4 db, but it might need 2-3 db more boost on the right to get a little more vocals. It's a "field recording," and it has it's limitations. The mix gets better on stage as the set goes on. I have audio from the two video cameras that could be combined to make a decent Matrix recording.......the stage was in between two redwoods. The forest canopy created a natural slap-back reverb effect, especially on the snare drum..." 2018-10-29 Important Update! As I made mention, besides an audio recording with a Mic on Stage, Clayton also Filmed the Show. After hearing my mix, he decided to Re-master a recording by Matrix with stage audio & his film audio. I ripped the audio of all the Videos, I did a little EQing and tried to bring everything more up front. Most turned out amazingly (I think), except 'Bleeding' and 'Crystal Ball' are a little rough. The Set below was the same for all the shows. We're only missing 'Let's Do This' (not filmed), but we got almost the whole set! ~ Warren !
