Note:I've been recieving various audience recordings from the April 'leg' of Todd's 'Global Tour from Fans around the Northeastern US. Lots of fairly good stuff. Some are excellent. None of the contributors really had a complete set, so I thought I'd do a compilation of some of the better recordings. I apologize in advance that the audience applause (at the begining and end of each tune) is a kind of a 'fade in' and 'fade out' kind of approach. But still makes for a very good listen and very disc 'burn-able'. This 'Global' Show/Tour is a marvelous performance. I'm not a good 'reviewer'type of guy, so I won't go there. But Todd's excellent new CD (GLOBAL) is so 'addictive', and this 2015 'Extravaganza' is an ESSENTIAL ticket for any Todd Rundgren Fan! Like a soundboard. The onliest thing is, that the woman sitting very near or next to our recorder is blabbing through the entire show. And that’s a shame too, that someone would attend a Todd Rundgren show and chat through the entire event. We can assume that they are not a fan of any sorts. But the energy of the show is marvelous, and Todd’s vocals are as brilliant as ever. Our two ‘Global Nation’ girls are incredible vocalists, dancers and they’re beautiful. Dam Funk does a great job and treats us with the first song. And it’s a real treasure for Todd to crank up his guitar for several songs. He is drilling it here. Scorching guitar for the opener ‘Evrybody’, then ‘Secret Society’, ‘Worldwide Epiphany’, ‘International Feel’ and ‘Just One Victory’! This is ESSENTIAL~ Warren |

Well worth the ticket price (FREE…chuckle chuck). Todd’s voice sounded a little tired in some spots, but very few. For the most part he nailed it. He even did some choreographed dance parts with the absolutely lovely ‘Global Girls’. And once again, a lot of guitar. Scorching guitar pieces. ‘Tech/dance numbers’, ‘soul numbers’ and ‘Rock numbers’ all rolled into one… with and incredible light show and effects. And Dam Funk as master of ceremonies (his solo opening number is marvelous). The show really does justice in support of the new GLOBAL album. ESSENTIAL~ Warren |

I rolled down the bass a little bit on mine…straight burn to two discs and it was ready for my listening pleasure on my home theatre and in the car. 14th show of the tour and they were ‘nailing’ this set like clockwork. Thoughts by Kevin Scull on TRC: "Todd played at the Town Ballroom to a full house at a historic site in the heart of the theatre district. The set list was similar to others mentioned in other postings. The show was high energy all night and Todd as usual gave everyone their money's worth with a two hour performance. The dance fever format was another interesting twist on the road to utopia. The lighting and visuals with the show were superb. I find it refreshing to see a performer who is a lifelong artist and not just recycling the greatest hits package. The last five concerts I have seen have all been different and certainly reflect the full range of the man's talents and interests. Even taking old standards and remixing them in other formats is a welcomed change. Truth, Today, World Wide Epiphany, Party Liquor and Secret Society were well suited to this performance. Songs from Global were good and I look forward to hearing them again. Todd ended with the encore International Feel (but there's always more) Just One victory (underneath it all we are here together shining still). Fitting closing thoughts for the Wizard." This is better than the audio for the Professional Yahoo LiveNation Web Stream! I’m kind of ‘speechless’ about the WHOLE THING. So here’s a review by Kristen Hilliard:” Wow! Poweee! HOO! This is a fantastic show, in every way. What a Gift! The light show, the music, the dancing girls, Dam Funk…TODD! I absolutely love this show. Todd is pacing and connecting with the audience. Divine! The dancing girls are gorgeous, and what fantastic choreography and adorable costumes. Kudos to the Choreographer (Michelle????!!!!! Great job). Wake up people! Listen to the Master! We've got One World! It is time to hear the Truth! Planet Earth is crying for our help, we need a World Wide Epiphany!!!! Open your hearts and minds and send that loving and healing energy from your heart. Together we can change the world! I dig the Techno-Medley of Can we/hello it's/I saw the.... Todd nailed this show, and the girls were on fire. Maybe a little more Dam Funk to get us raving! The concert is like a Rave so get ready to dance away the old world and dance in the no world order. Once you accepted the format -- DJ, minimal live instrumentation (besides the synth and brief smattering of guitar), lights and video -- the evening progressed flawlessly and the flow was energetic from start to finish. Todd was in excellent voice (much better than he sounded on the brief bit of the Yahoo livestream) and came across with great vibrancy and devotion to the material. The "Global" tracks were all well-presented and enthusiastically received; more folks seemed familiar with the new material than some of the other reviews indicated for those audiences. The tracks from "Liars" and "State" nicely dovetailed with the EDM approach, and even the greatest hits medley was brisk and Todd seemed invested in those brief performances. On our way in we chatted with a local; he "loved" Todd but his all-time favorite was the Rolling Stones. Well, let's see -- when's the last time they put out a new album... or played a show consisting of nearly all-new material. While it was definitely an older crowd at the show, I didn't see anyone with fingers in their ears or walking out during the show. Instead, there was tremendous love directed at Our Hero and if it had been an open floor there would have been a lot of dancing going on! Very little chatter from Todd during the show but he left the stage with a big smile on his face, almost as big as ours! A really nice venue -- a converted movie theater, so comfortable seating on the floor and the "VIP" set up puts you at either elevated tables or up on the balcony, advertised as the "best seats in the house" and including dinner from a limited but tasty menu.” |

INTERNATIONAL FEEL /JUST ONE VICTORY(INCOMPLETE?).JUST ONE VICTORY (COMPLETE) Note:Very good audience DAT recording from Marc L.’s friend Barry B. Marc sent me these discs directly after the recording. I've never been to the Birchmere... but all the audience recordings sound like it may be a smaller/more intimate venue. I've never heard a bad one. And this no exception. However, I've heard nothing but bad things from Fans that attended. They say that the forced layout of the stage, due to space limitations, was awkward. No place to be up close and 'boogie', as one put it. I also was told, that even though it was a sell out, that many left early (as in during the 'Hits Medley" (Can we Still Be Friends/I Saw The Light & Hello It's Me). If you listen to these versions of the show, you can hear the subdued audience. But I enjoy this recording. Thank you Marc and Barry! ~Warren Superfan CeMeGo put it precisely (in the TRConnection Reviews): “The Birchmere music hall was the ABSOLUTE WORST CHOICE for this type of show. It was laid out like a comedy club with tables and chairs and dinners. This is not the environment for this particular edition of a Todd show. Did anyone at the Birchmere listen to the new album at all?! The whole concert seemed awkward and it made me uncomfortable, not because of the music Todd was PERFORMING but the fact that the venue seemed really uptight. This show would have been much better with everyone standing and no chairs, allowing the freedom to dance around which is what the DJ and Todd kind of wanted the people to do as the music dictates this. The DC metro area is a very emotionless uptight paranoid town, so getting people out of chairs to dance is not something that is easy, ESPECIALLY in a sold out show. If you are going to perform music like this live, you should perform it in a venue that allows for that kind of energy. Seeing this stuff live at the Birchmere was like watching Todd perform this stuff in a church service. It was very inappropriate. I noticed a lot of the people didn't even make it half way through the show. That also made it awkward. There were a lot of early "leavers". I hung in there because... well... I've been listening to this man my whole life. I can't walk away. ..But, I saw more people get up and leave during the EDM remake of the Todd classics. (To be honest, that was a really bad move. Todd would do better to kill this and put more from State or Liars on this tour). So, advice to people who are going to upcoming Global shows, make sure you are paying for a ticket in a place that has room to shake your booty and you are prepared to do so. If you are going to this show and they have tables, chairs and menus out, be prepared to be uncomfortable and feel awkward. I don't know who planned this tour and picked the venues but they couldn't have been more out of sorts. And if you are going to see people play musical instruments, this is NOT the Todd show for you.” |

INTERNATIONAL FEEL /JUST ONE VICTORY. Note:This is a superb audience recording from ‘Moz’. This Show was distinctive to me… I've heard and seen portions of most of this Tour thus far, and the Atlanta performance is exceptionally the best thus far (IMO of course). I know...sure Warren...you're partial. Is it my imagination? Or does anybody (Atlantans or otherwise) agree? Not because I am THE consummate ‘die hard’. I was at the very front of the stage (to the left) standing and my jaw was a gape. And I'm not even wildly excited about this synthesized techno 'dance' thing. Warren don't dance. But this show....THIS Show is one of the best Todd performances, productions, support cast and stage & lighting that I've seen in a very long time. I'm thunderstruck...I have no words for Todd's extraordinary vocals. And you want some blistering guitar? It’s here. The weird fast tempo ‘hits’ medley (‘Can We Still Be Friends’/’I Saw the Light’ & ‘Hello It’s Me’), I can live without (and it seems everybody else can too). Reviews that I read, about this Tour; the Critics and Fans either hate the Tour or love it. No middle ground. Me? I don’t love the Tour or the Album…I like them…but I don’t love them. But I loved this performance. Todd gets pissed here at a couple a folks at the beginning of 'One World' for having their video camera lights on. Rightfully so, I mean...they had lights on that were literally lighting up the whole front area. You'll hear him yell at them to 'turn them off' here. But over all tremendous. Thanks again Moz! Thank you Ian Bui! ~ Warren |

Note:I can claim absolutely no credit for this audio. All we did was steal the audio from Super Fan Roger Steel’s excellent video (a share on YouTube). And as always, Roger’s Video captures always have great audio. We did crop each tune so they would run seamlessly together as in no apparent interruption. This listen is very much fun. I could not make it to Akron to this RundgrenRadio presentation due to finances. So I couldn’t be more appreciative to Roger for ‘putting me at the concerts’ with this excellent film (Both nights in their entirety!) BTW, first time ‘Hideaway’ performed live. I won't review the show, but from what I see and hear; Todd, Symphony and all supporting Players (and to all involved) DELIVERED. After all these decades, I still cannot get over his incredible vocals here. Here are three short reviews though: "As a lifelong Todd fan, I was truly amazed at this symphony performance! Todd's voice was strong and the set list took advantage of the orchestra. His music is perfect for the inclusion of the orchestra - full, rich, and textured.", (2013 Ticketmaster review by JOELROX) " Todd and the Akron Symphony delivered! The playlist offered something old....and something new...all sweet music..... and lyrics to our ears. Well done, maestro!! " (2015 Ticketmaster review by LLCL) " In short, a wonderfully unique and creative performance that was all that it promised and much more . . . I have been to about 100 concerts since the '70s and I’ve never seen a show like this." (2015 Ticketmaster review by GlennTV). |

Note:Now this second source is a different set of circumstances than the audio from video (Roger Steel). This is an excellent audience recording by our buddy Jonathan Babcock. He says to me, “My recordings are always seem to be an 'alternate version’. So this can be your 'alternate version.’” But that is not so! I wasn't prepared for much, because he had played it down so much. But when he gave it to me, and I listened to it, I was aghast. For this is THE version to have. It is ESSENTIAL. It is wonderful. Truly THE recordings of two magnificent nights to add to one’s collection! Except for the fact that ‘Hello It’s Me’ (and that’s OK with me. For sure) cuts out and we’re missing the beginning of ‘Second Wind’ ; this sounds professionally done. And we get all of the between song stuff. It's all as close to soundboard as you can get for an audience recording.~ Warren As far as the actual artist's performances go, please read the few short reviews in my entries of Roger Steel’s audio. |

Even his trax notes & accompanying artwork/photos are thorough. This probably the best quality of all these 2015 Ringo & His All Starrs audience recordings. Most, if not all, are large venue acoustics, or sound like they are recorded quite a good distance from the stage. But this one is as close to a soundboard tape as you can get. And of course Todd is very prominent in his participation in Ringo’s 2015 Tour. And he shines here not only in his only three songs, but you can hear his vocals and guitar prowess throughout. Of course we’re ‘partial’ to Todd here, but other than Steve Lukather, Todd is one of the most sonically evident of the ‘support artists’ for Ringo during throughout this show (and all of them for that matter). I couldn’t find any reviews on-line whatsoever or I share one here for just what I’m talking about. If you love Ringo’s shows, you will absolutely have to have this one. Tight music and very much great listening pleasure. What treasure to get this performance from Todd’s Home Town. ESSENTIAL.~ Warren But the one to hold dear to my heart would be the Grand Theater at Foxwoods Mashantucket CT show on 10/24/15 Review by Victoria Sainte-Claire (TRC) wrote this about the third show of the tour (10/3/15), and think it fitting for a review of all of these Ringo & All Starrs Dates: ” Todd and Ringo are very funny together. Though Ringo is clearly the authority figure. Their first altercation came in the introduction when Todd was going on about something at the same time Ringo was talking about it which earned an "I'm TALKING, Toddy!" from Ringo in a very parental tone. (Todd claps his hand over his mouth like OMG I interrupted Ringo! I'm dead!). We all cracked up. All of the musicians were terrific. Todd did "I Saw the Light" (my favorite song, as to me it is about the transformative power of Love), and "Bang the Drum" which everyone knows by now and got people jumping around. Later on Todd performed a beautiful version of "Love is the Answer" which also resonated with Ringo's "Peace & Love" vibe. Todd contributed stunning background vocals and harmonies (and possibly arranged them) on all the other songs, and of course, great guitar. I think he also contributes to the action on the stage as most of the band don't move around very much—though he got some competition from Warren Ham on sax when he got going and Lukather on guitar in some places. There were some Santana songs — only the best of course—due to Greg Rolie being there and quite a few Beatles songs, spanning from their very early days in the 60s to the White Album and through Ringo's solo work. Ringo looks amazing for his age and has a very calm persona. He wore a red long-tailed Teddy Boy jacket for half the show and then a dark green very slightly glittery one. The backdrop was blue and peaceful with a moon and of course, stars, and matched the blue logo on the drum kit. There were two video screens which were unfortunately not widescreen so you could only see one player at a time. There were lights on us as well, almost like house lights between some numbers, and then spotlights because Ringo wanted to see everybody, which kind of made a party out of it. And he told us we all looked beautiful in the light. It was a really nice thing to say. From where I was , the sound was incredible. The finale was a short two-line chant of "Give Peace a Chance" from everybody and Ringo's special guests such as Edgar winter who just happened to be around; and there were lots of singalongs on tunes like "A Little Help from my Friends," "Octopus' Garden" and "Act Naturally" (hey, Ringo ASKED us to sing)! Everybody was blissed out afterwards. What a wonderful night, thank you, Mr. Starkey, for coming to my home town! Thank you for having Todd in your band! Come back soon.” The Band: Ringo Starr - drums, vocals Steve Lukather - guitar, vocals Gregg Rolie - keyboards, vocals Todd Rundgren - guitar, vocals Richard Page - guitar, bass, vocals Warren Ham - sax, keys, percussion, vocals Gregg Bissonette - drums source : schoeps mk-4v > actives > nbox platinum > sony pcm-m10 > 24/44.1 wav adobe audition 7 > ozone 5 > sample manager > xACT 2.34 > flac 16 |

And some of the recent fan videos are quite good (audio-wise) that have been shared on-line. In particular, a few vids of 2015-12-19 Gramercy Theatre NY and 2015-12-23 Whitaker Center Harrisburg PA. So, I ripped the audio from the better of the videos where these tunes appeared, did a small bit of editing, and they turned out pretty decent. Hopefully more full show audience recordings will be coming in where these songs were performed. But for the time being, I think everybody would enjoy these selections. They are a fun good listen. And if more 'unique' ones show up down the road, I will grab those too (if they're decent audio) and add them to this entry. And I'll continue to do that until we have, maybe, the whole 'Unpredictable' repertoire. ~ Warren |

Decent recordings... which I just ripped the audio from 'on-line videos' and then I did some minor editing. The whole show was Fan filmed by various individuals, with the exception of 'I'm So Proud (Soul Medley)' which was performed after 'Bang On The Drum'. So we're only missing that one from the Set List. While 'tweaking' and balancing out the audio, I tried to make the tracks run as seemless as possible. Although there are a lot of unavoidable audience applause fast fade in and fade outs, pretty much all songs are complete. And this is a fun listen that I did to satisfy us until the good audience recordings start surfacing. As far as the performance goes: Minor hic-ups, but the good 'ole Liars Band is tight and brings it. I'm so glad to see them lose the chairs and the stools.Todd has lots of energy here. And I like the 'Unpredictable' songs that they selected for this show. Global's 'Rise' is a little weird with live backing musicians, but 'Soothe' is super. I think I just take it for granted that Todd's vocals are going to be incredible night after night, and he doesn't fail us here. And I expected him to crank up 'foamy', which he does this evening too.~ Warren |

Rundgren’s winter 2015-2016 tour thus far appears designed to please fans who want to revisit their youth, or at the very least be reminded of just how prolific Rundgren was in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Sunday’s show in North Tonawanda NY, just outside of Buffalo, comes less than a year after Todd’s “Global” tour that featured a wild light show and a heavy dose of EDM. Sunday’s show featured a healthy dose of powerhouse renditions of Rundgren’s most commercially successful album Something/Anything ? and songs from the classic four-piece Utopia era. The sold out crowd seemed content to sit back and watch Rundgren belt out songs and rip through guitar solos. Rundgren could not be faulted for a lack of effort, and his voice was in perfect form, but in spite of his best efforts, the crowd stayed seated for most of the evening, with a few people in the front standing after songs were over, and the traditional bum rush to the stage for the encores. The renditions of the classic songs were faithful but with an added spark. Rundgren’s touring band was on fire all evening, driven by the rhythm section of Kasim Sulton on bass and Prairie Prince on drums, and complimented by the guitar pyrotechnics of Jesse Gress and keyboardist John Ferenzik. The band is arguably Rundgren’s best solo group, not only because of their musicianship, but due to the fact that all of them have performed with Rundgren for at least 20 years. The Utopia material was the most powerful and seemed to draw the best response from the crowd. “Rock Love”, “Love in Action” and “Lysistrata” found Todd in classic form, either wailing on guitar or moving back and forth in front of the stage just like he did during the band’s heyday. The ballads and slower songs were well received, deeper cuts like “Lost Horizon” and part of the soul medley from “A Wizard a True Star.” Rundgren also played two Nazz songs, “Open My Eyes” and “Kiddie Boy.” Of the 24 songs in the set only two were released in this century, “Soothe” from his 2015 release Global and “Buffalo Grass” from One Long Year which came out in 2000. The rest of the set pre-dated 1985. If you liked Rundgren’s older work, you left happy.” |
