Largest Collection On The Globe of Todd Rundgren Audio Rarities

Greetings Audio Toddheads! Warren H. (Atlanta, GA. USA) here. Tony Rogers and I have transferred our entire audio collections over to my home in 2008. We (Tony & I) thought my circumstances (A 62 year old, single, IT specialist/Audio Editor guy in Atlanta with lots of Todd Rundgren history/archival collecting since 1972) would be ideal for taking over the 'Library' in all its glory. And, so an 'incorporation' of his and my colossal collections takes place! I now curate this ‘museum’. And I plan to share much of this, just as Tony did all these decades. And yes, I’m somewhat of a Todd Rundgren Historian. I have been 'following' Todd extensively (in all forms of media) ever since I saw (and met) him here at an Historic Show at Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre on November 8 1973. So I know 'enough'. Please note that I say share my enthusiasm. No buying or selling. Nor will a penny exchange hands. Never.
I want to say a big THANK YOU in advance to all of you who are going to help and have helped with this so far. I’ll do my best. Write me anytime. twarrenh@gmail.com
Just scroll down to the items listed below by period and click on any year to browse the collection.
We've also recently been working in collaboration with my friend Frank Bubnick and his well known vast quality collection (you can visit his list by clicking on his name). Some of his editing is unequaled anywhere.
And some late breaking neat news : I believe most of you are familiar with the JEMS group. A bunch of super collectors for many bands’ audience recordings (predominate though are Yes and Springsteen). Well known for their re-mastering prowess and quality. They’ve been in contact with me for a couple of years, and in December of last year offered me all their (originals) Todd Rundgren Collection. They just didn’t have the resources or the time for refining anything by Todd Rundgren. It just wasn’t on their timeline. I received all their cassettes (60) within a few weeks! Most of them are MASTER tapes from the original Taper. They will be sending me all their DATs and Reels at a later date. I will be listing all these recordings here, as I digitally transfer them. With this addition of the JEMS collection I believe these Todd Rundgren Archives are easily the largest collection on the planet.
How do we share you ask? Well, Just for what it's worth, we really don't do the 'snail mail trading' (by postal) much these days. So, if you would like me to share or trade any of this 'Catalog' with you, it would be more convenient/easiest to share in the form of on-line file transfer. Generally, in .flac format, compressed to .zip or .rar for smoother/faster quality exchange [depending upon the size of the audio file(s) we might be exchanging of course]. Hope that all makes sense. I can work with you on 'all that'. Again, write me, and then we'll come to an agreement of sorts. Please keep in mind, that anything that is 'Official', or 'Professionally Marketed', or still available for 'Retail' purchase is not of consideration. Nor is there any monetary means of transaction.
I do not have any rights to, and I am not open for sharing any material that may be listed below that has been commercially or officially released and is still available retail. (It may be listed below for collection listing purpose only). I do not take or give any money for a single item below either. I do not take away any proceeds that are due to Todd Rundgren, family, friends, business or supporting/associated musicians. If it is ROIO (recording of independent origin), then I'm open to share. Support the artist! Go buy his stuff where and whenever available! Speaking of which; an ultimate place to find/buy Todd's releases and imports & rarities is TRBAZAAR. Check it out! If Scott ain't got it, nobody does...just about! And of course many past official CD/DVD releases and proprietary Todd merchandise is readily available for ordering on-line at The Toddstore. So check them out for sure.
I like to give credit where credit is due too. So please forgive me if I do not credit the right persons involved in making these recordings available/possible for all these years.
I’ll start a ‘Credits’ list here below, and maintain it on down the road. Like to make sure all the folks involved are appreciated. For now, let me go ahead and thank some folks that have really been instrumental in these archives (no particular order): Tony Rogers (of course), Mike Armes, Jeff Gauss 'Weavil' (RIP), Frank Bubnick, Paul Russo, Hiroshi Kawauchi, Istvan Berzenczei, Sara Kritzer, Barry Beiseigel, Marc Linowitz, Rob 'Lockjaw' Levangie, Roger Steel, Mike Adrian, Gil Ireland-Ashley, Jim Farrell, Dale Michelsohn, Gary Urwin, Don B., Bob Stanislowski (RIP), Micheal B., Jon Risen, Jon Babcock, Mark Wilpolt, Tom Cannon, Lin Sprague, Joe Franks, Chris 'Razz', Geoff (& Rick) Laurenzo, Ted Moon, Richard Roys, Storm Hunter, Moz (Mike), Sohta Fujito, David Skye, Allen Law, Matt Walsh, Kevin Lewis, Doug Ford, Dave Knife, JEMS, Jared Houser, Gene Poole, 'Elegymart', Gail Artsgard, Victor Baissait, Connor Payne and players to be named later. Special thanks to Roger Linder for providing this page space for us for decades. Let's Rock!
BTW, I call this group of people 'My Cartel'. However, I have given the group a Media name: F451 Media (as in 451 Farenheit). It is not a brand name, for nothing of mine is for sale or has been sold EVER. It is a logo for these dedicated Todd Rundgren Collectors , which most of been doing this since the early 90s (and even earler). Our logo is:

Note:This is one helluva solo event. Todd solo in Clearwater. There's so much to point out in this performance. Some reviews from folks, that were there, say there were several mistakes. But hey, that's what Todd makes fun about a show like this. Awh... his humor. He nails 'Cliche' with the difficult vocal range. 'I Don't want to Tie you Down' is one of the first appearances of this in a Todd set. Lennon's 'You've Got To Hide Your Love Away'...he nails it... And 'Hawking' just flat silences the audience. Essential. You can get the Re-Mastered virsion at WhooHooLive. Buy it! It's Todd approved and he sees the royalties!~ Warren

Note:This one is a real treat for me, because I was there! And I did not even know this show was recorded by anybody. Todd was spot on, and when he did ‘I’ve Just Seen A Face’ (right after ‘You’ve got to Hide Your Love Away’), I cheered like The Beatles were in town or something. I took lots of photos, for I did not bring anything to record with. I had a front row seat too. I tweaked her just a little, and now it sounds like I am in the Front Row. Note:Boo-yeah...the DC crew- nothing from the South yet?? ...Oh well, as I said on the review section, I think this is an all time for Todd’s vocal performance- Great show-Stellar vocal performance in years-but also creatively, as adds new life to the songs he’s done. The list, pacing-all was in synch at the Birchmere...new Chi flowing here-new improv lines taking the place of familiar vocal lines...Compassion here is as good as it’s been. Tie You Down also glitters... This is sweet-no yap to speak of at all...ESSENTIAL~ Tony

Note:Well, the first thing I should confess is that I sold this show short (say that fast 3 times...) on the website reviews-the end of it and most of it-Todd’s vocals are on par with the night prior-there were more instrument probs, but not to distract-a real small place (size and layout approx holiday inn lounge size: 250 folks) to start Todd had an odd day as he explains about leaving clothes behind and forgetting picks..strings break so he picks up Royston Langson's gtr Well, the first thing I should confess is that I sold this show short (say that fast 3 times...) on the website reviews-the end of it and most of it-Todd’s vocals are on par with the night prior-there were more instrument probs, but not to distract-a real small place (size and layout approx Holiday Inn Lounge size: 250 folks) to start Todd had an odd day as he explains about leaving clothes behind and forgetting picks…strings break so he picks up Royston Langston’s gtr (who by the way is great and has a great Queen like song we are not alone--also performed in the Lap of the Gods from Sheer Heart Attack..) but back to the star..tie you down is superb from all perspectives...good execution on Viking...Compassion like the night prior is dangling on a star...the "dying on your bed of pain" when whispered as only he can bring the dynamics down is worth the price of admission for this SOLD OUT (VERY EARLY I MIGHT ADD) show as well.. there’s a funny bit during the uke story where a lady belts out a laugh.......funny thing about these shows is the absence of electric gtrs as well-distortion on acoustic gtr…Black & White makes a rare solo appearance (at least not lately) Debbie gives Todd a plastic tasting glass of water when he asks for it...then the lovely vocal champ flattens the competition with the Bossa set...the greatness of Todd shows through in the improvisational sections he is inventing stretching but not going too far overboard to strain the voice-the high end is clearer..The Wheel comes again tonight in a spot which is a bit earlier than usual...alters the tune "like if children were left to their own devices part.., to update accordingly....and the end, the slow down "how much I loved you....." the right touch for sure...can’t wait for next leg.~ Tony

Track List:CD ONE: LYSISTRADA. IT WOULDNT HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE (I). LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. I DONT WANT TO TIE YOU DOWN. HAMMER IN MY HEART. CLICHE'. TINY DEMONS. SONG OF THE VIKING. COMPASSION. FREE MALE AND 21. IT WOULDNT HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE II. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY. IVE JUST SEEN A FACE. CD TWO: WILLIAM TELL RIFF. LOVE IN ACTION (ABORTED). I SAW THE LIGHT. INFLUENZA. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?. I WANT YOU. ONE WORLD. HELLO ITS ME. THE WHEEL. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER.
Note:Long time bud/Todd fan Mike Mosner checks in with a nice recording of the Charlotte show...voice was still nice--kinda weird show- sounded like tr spoke of it as kinda a punk club...anyhow- string breaks on song 1- Todd pays someone a fosters to fix it from the audience...then the wind blowing on him at the piano bench was a hassle...plays IWHMAD..Todd says a number of times during the show that in his advanced age- what he thinks he hears from the audience is probably much more interesting that what they’re talking about..Todd says he may one day act on it and get in real trouble.....anyhow- show gets some steam but is frequently peppered with Todd commentary about lotsa stuff...anyhow-verses get switched in demons, he mentions sold out tonite as an investment in the future- he may just play there 5 straight nights....hardcores get ready to do some motel biz....anyway, yes he does play IWHMAD twice then they remind him of it...I’ve just seen is spot on....lia aborts after the eq/line in short in Todd’s acoustic/electric goes out...like it did in Annapolis...again Todd darts in and out of the mp3 tunes great improvs at the end...HIM is messy a bit but he recovers and finishes strong after a few flubs...nice reaction from crowd- show was a bit more like the last few years but still the singing was clear and strong...great job, thanks Mike....~ Tony
2/8/03 DURHAM NC CAROLINA THEATER AUDIENCE TOM CANNON (DAT)
Date Added:3/12/2003
Track List:CD ONE: LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN (aborted). SONG OF THE VIKING. COMPASSION. FREE MALE AND 21. TINY DEMONS. HAMMER IN MY HEART. I DONT WANT TO TIE YOU DOWN. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN (full). CLICHE'/FREEBIRD. TOO FAR GONE. HELLO ITS ME. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY. I SAW THE LIGHT. INFLUENZA. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?. I WANT YOU CD TWO: LYSISTRADA. THE WHEEL. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER. ONE WORLD
Note:Tom Cannon comes thru with his usual sonic superior job...this show in which Todd did have an extra thumb or two (one of those piano nites) but sang super in line with the great vocs we heard in DC area. ..Some catcalls burst thru the sound but not too bad...again, as was on the 7th-his string breaks on the opener and he aborts and goes straight to the piano where it starts out pretty well..Speaks of the water concern at each venue and did drink what he called "syphilis water" (misspoken name)...Todd finally answers the catcalls for Skynyrd with a few unaccompanied verses of Free Bird...btw Hammer is the best I’ve heard on the tour- a real fierce pace...the flubs start at the end of too far gone which isn’t bad at all but a real train wreck happens in Hello It’s Me which drifts for awhile at the end into an atonal affair-Todd has fun with it...LOTCM and Cliché’ really benefit from being played later in the set when his voice is warmed up....Todd speaks of playing IWHMAD twice the night before, so I guess that’s why it was missing this nite...A Dream Goes On is even somewhat marred-thats probably why he took the unusual step of playing One World AFTER a Dream.. All in all, very enjoyable- rowdy crowd, kind of subpar keyboard nite…~ Tony

Track List:INTRO FROM LARRY GROCE/LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. I DONT WANT TO TIE YOU DOWN. HAMMER IN MY HEART. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?. SONG OF THE VIKING. HELLO ITS ME. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. ONE WORLD. TAXMAN/OUTRO (FADES)
Note:This is the radio super clean-taken directly from a B-cast source-sound is superb-performance strong...this is not every song played but again-a professional Radio B-cast for public Radio-we haven’t had a B-cast like this is quite a few tours-. Groce's intro was spliced onto LOTCM (the version here is the 2nd take-first was unusable due to tech probs). However, the B-cast sounds seamless. Taxman is a sing along. Todd sings a verse as the B-cast fades...it is absolutely great to have one from this state-honoring a man who is long overdue...ESSENTIAL~ Tony
3/28/03 NEW BRAUNFELS TX GRUENE HALL AUDIENCE 63:45/39:21
Track List:CD ONE: LYSISTRADA. I DONT WNAT TO TIE YOU DOWN. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. CLICHE'. BLACK AND WHITE. IT WOULDNT HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. SONG OF THE VIKING. COMPASSION. FREE MALE AND 21. CAN WE STILL NE FRIENDS(PIANO). BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. BELOVED INFIDEL. HAMMER IN MY HEART. TINY DEMONS. YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY CD TWO: I SAW THE LIGHT. INFLUENZA. I WANT YOU. ONE WORLD. HELLO ITS ME. THE WHEEL/WHATS GOING ON. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER
Note:Compared to the nite after-I think this was the better performed show but they’re both good. The PA was not on during Lysistrata. I think what makes this show better is the sustained emotional focus of this show vocally compared to Dallas...IWHMAD has diff vocal inflections that usual..Many wrecks early in piano and also at the very end...Compassion, CWSBF, are all good piano wise...Demons has the cool out of order lyrics thing that happens sometimes (2nd verse first) the real reason for this is the sparkling emotional takes of Infidel and What’s Goin’ On...keeper~ Tony

FREE MALE AND 21. COMPASSION. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. IVE JUST SEEN A FACE. YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY. BORN TO SYNTHESIZE. CD TWO: I SAW THE LIGHT. INFLUENZA. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS? (MP3). I WANT YOU. LOVE IN ACTION. ONE WORLD. KINDNESS. THE WHEEL>WHATS GOING ON?. HELLO ITS ME. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER.
Note:Here is one from Dallas recorded next to the stage...a bit distant at times but as the monitors grew in volume, this gets better as it goes on. performance would be under the night before due to piano stops and starts but a solid show and also very important in that it includes the debut US performances of Kindness (on solo piano-he did do this one show in Osaka-thanks Jeff Gauss) and Born to Synthesize (acoustic solo version ala twist-complete with marriage of heaven and hell gtr riff and snore)-also the newer Beloved Infidel and the Wheel>WHATS combo that showed up the prior nite. The thing about this night was monitor probs as well as some mistakes on piano songs and Love In Action. Still nice to have for the expanding repertoire...sound as I said is not recorded from the back of the speakers but is still solid....~ Tony

INFLUENZA. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS. I WANT YOU. ONE WORLD. THE WHEEL/WHATS GOING ON. HAWKING. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER
Note:Todd tour rolls thru the Midwest and Mr. L captures it faithfully- there is a bit of yap but the crowd seems never to stop...Todd does the (becoming rarer) Hawking instead of kindness-the piano flubs are less than average..Lunatic is a bit rough (he says its performance number 2) but it’s cool to hear it back to back with beloved...thanks to ml for another foray into Motown...nice to hear the local reaction to two Marvin songs......good performance-voice is a bit rough at edges but nowhere near as what would be the usual damage by this deep into the tour..That’s what makes this tour so special.~ Tony

CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS. I WANT YOU. ONE WORLD. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER. THE WHEEL/WHATS GOING ON
Note:This set is really a show that I wished I had seen. It sounds coffeehouse size. Tiny. The recording benefits from super equip and positioning not far from a speaker. It’s the Talkhouse, however, and there us a bit of yap in many places early. It is not a problem because the recording is so strong and it gets better as the show goes on. some great moments here- Hello It’s Me has a playful improved begin off the bass riff...Todd’s voice is a bit rough at the start but again, the amazing thing is that it gets better as the show goes. And by mid show, he’s in tip top form...Infidel is exceptional (many good ones-this one may be the best)...the second CD sounds superb... Wheel/What’s Goin’ On also is great...also Todd talks about a song yet to be written about the current political scene. One of the few shows that didn’t end with a Dream...anyhow- what a great job and like I said-I wish id had been there for sure. Lively, lot of fun and sounds great.~ Tony

CD TWO: I SAW THE LIGHT. INFLUENZA. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS. I WANT YOU (CUTS)
Note:This is a beautiful show that is largely complete but misses probably the last 3-4 tunes. Recording quality is superb-performance is equal to the prestige of the big gig on this tour...contains what is (my opinion course) the best solo/piano version to date of Kindness...Big Apple is the end note of Synth...we hear about Todd’s politics..I’ve always preferred to let my music do the talking.....thank you, Jesus he says..Then Todd lets out a little blurp...”Im a Buddhist"...........great show-wish we had it all...another masterful job by Mr. Babcock ‘the legend’~ Tony

CD TWO: I SAW THE LIGHT. INFLUENZA. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS. I WANT YOU (ALL WITH JESSE GRESS). ONE WORLD. THE WHEEL/WHATS GOING ON. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER (WAT VERSION W/ JESSE)
Note:What a special ‘one off’...as noted above, Jesse is there for all but 2 tunes on CD2 here. Changes this to be a Hybrid show, half 03 & half Channel Surfing...makes a difference when Jesse adds to the WAT stuff and the different a Dream Goes On is real cool...however, the most astonishing thing about this recording is the performance and the development of the improv on BTS w/ Jesse, WAT stuff but the jaw dropper is the (possibly improvised) melding of a modal tune attached throughout - I’ve Just Seen A Face called the Endless Prairie-whether he was singing to his family about his recent jaunt northward above Texas, who knows..But it is really together and sounds to me either to be improved -if not, it’s probably an old showtune. Regardless, it’s an instant classic.....the sound is strong...there’s some talk but what the hey...what a special show...another one I wished I’d seen...Beloved is superior. David Weesner- who did a superb job as well.~ Tony

Note:Another gem - resequenced, note, from the Roy's Soundforge scene-the venue is larger than the usual venue so the sound is slightly more distant than normal but not a problem at all...sounds great...the Disc Two starts boomy but calms down after the house corrected it. Another great job and rare (nowadays) Tiny Demons to boot. Another nice recording by Mr. R....~ Tony

Track List:N/A
Note:A nice audie from Bristol...We’ll get the list up one day soon…not bad, not great recording...some yap and a crazy fan who is acting aloud during a lot of the show- it sounds as if Todd is a bit unhinged by this lady..So she must have been truly whacked. I’ve only seen or heard (on boots) of Todd getting spooked only by one crazy fan I know...this guy stopped the I tour in DC to show the crowd his tattoo of the Ikon eyeball...anyhow I digress...Todd asks if the place is haunted..It is the crowd replies...Todd may have forgotten but Utopia played there on the first UK tour in fall 75-thirty years before....nevertheless Todd delivers a great Viking (one of tours best) a lyric stumble in Hawking but it is a special version...also PTC is pretty sweet as well..This is a single (Joe and Ethel-less) CD~ Tony

Note:I think this was the next show after our little Dallas adventure and Todd’s voice starts out pretty gruff. (there was something about ragweed going around...).interesting that he mentions the New George’s Cal ‘Drunk Show’ in ‘87 and promises to drink a bit- which he proceeds to do..He really delivers a funny line about his keyboard playing that I’d never heard before:"my piano playing is not sloppy...I’d call it...a rollicking style"...but despite the drink, this show is almost mistake free on piano...I finally got the joke before the Hello It’s Me..About classical concerto...that’s him making fun of Billy Joel again...BJ did that awhile back (Todd hates him but I think he’s written at least a couple undeniable classics)...Funny loose show-voice improves by shows end…~ Tony

Note:Ok I know I’ve been lazy and been away. I have so much going on now that takes priority...so...but I did make it Columbus—first I was shocked at how much of a DNS went down. The place was barely half filled- beautiful venue- sound was pretty good- I also heard Todd may play with the headliners but I couldn’t stay...the show itself was a bit more abrupt in flow at times due to the shortened set..I was told by the folks at the venue and this page that it would be an hour so didn’t bring a second, hence the cut on the surprising closer HIM which was actually played deliberately without screw-up’s...the rest--well it’s the same frickin songs again...the vocals pretty good (despite Todd’s complaints about Dayton ragging his voice)..Compassion (he’s playing with the tempo both for effect and accuracy which is good)...at the Bossa section - the improvs get more deep as time goes by...he accidently knocked off the mic during I Want You peak but these are all strong...Infidel of course was great..I did notice how Todd’s new distorted acoustic sound closely matched the sound of the gtr on the swing version...pretty good show...a bit short...and the same list as last leg...let’s hope (for us hardcores) we get a bit of new stuff in the fall..Chances are good...btw the sound here is real good, not superb-bit of yap from the Lobos folks in some places...12/05 have the Lobos set...Todd on Rain but mysteriously stops next tune and then is gone...also surprisingly, not on My Generation...~ Tony

CD TWO: I SAW THE LIGHT. INFLUENZA. CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?. I WANT YOU. ONE WORLD. HELLO ITS ME. THE WHEEL>WHATS GOING ON. A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER.
Note:This runs a very close second to Rams Head 8/4 and probably these were the highlight gigs for Todd of the second leg...after some heckling for "play something new", Todd delivers this funny 16 bar diddy about tourists coming to Hawaii – Mr. Roys tells me that this is Brak's vacation from Spaceghost's Surf and Turf...but the rest is very strong..There is some very slight yap but no big deal...piano is strong...and a very funny line is delivered during Born to Synthesize, "...the red polygons only desire is to get to the blue triangle...you know what I’m saying…" Todd laughs aloud........it just shows he was loose and on his game here… Another R. Roy's masterful job....Todd remarks about missing John Entwhistle who played there with him in AWDAR. This time its Todd himself...very enjoyable show for a supportive LI/NY crowd...~ Tony

Note:Wow. What a great surprise to find this really nice and loose show that finds Todd in almost constant good humored banter with the Boston crowd. This is a very well recorded solo show where Todd was on-almost on par with Birchmere, a few days later...voice not quite as good but nothing to complain about for sure. Highlights: LOTCM voc were a force of will...slight rasp this night but real strong for sure...in a reflective mood about Beantown all night (maybe it was that damned book again!)...talks about the Metro close to the Park and how the show went down depending on the Sox game. Talks of the 'Bosstown sound'...crowd into clapping this night...infidel is played so much more gently here than on the current Liars tour...better here I hate to say..prior to Compassion he asks the Gov vs. Terrorist bit then says "let's talk about solutions" and glides into Compassion-a beautiful halting version-he brakes around the curves for a more sensual style...real weird on this show where Todd accepts volunteers to tune his guitar..Something else Todd says he has in common with Bostoners is his love of country..."Endless Prairie of gridlock"...Todd actually recites the concept of future during Synth...where’s my...??..Making it with the mechanical maid...finally he goes too far and into the clap ending on Wheel before he remembers to segue into What’s Goin’ On so the crowd has to slow down the tempo considerably...but the version reminds me why I’m here and why you’re reading this now..Todd’s doing the good work...very emotional plea...another gem~ Tony

Note:Close to the end of this second time around-Mr. L checks in with this jewel from Towson. Todd has mastered this set list for sure and the piano songs are all done well and hardly any mistakes at this juncture..Prairie is pretty cool...as I said before we could really use some newer tunes - I think they’re on the way...anyhow- a great job by Marc, some yap but sound is stronger than I thought would be possible at this venue...also got in a processed gem from R Roy on this one that really kicks ass..DC/Balto-always covered with these pros...~ Tony

Note:Well there’s the story-there’s this little club in Richmond and not many people came at all...Todd says "I see you all got the secret memo...you were the people meant to be here"...sound on this is great..The performance is still good but he doesn’t wear himself out this nite...in fact, you’d be hard to find another show since ‘77 where both LOTCM and Cliché’ are missing...still this is recorded very well as R. keeps torching with his Soundforge scene..All of these are really nice recordings and this was a very intimate affair...Wish I could have been there....~ Tony

Note:This is the best I’ve heard so far from this leg. Nice relaxed-cool home vibe...really strong performance on all fronts...the soundforge must be a bitch cause these sound strong...no yap that I heard either...the Cliché opener is super-sounds like he was in a trance and forgot about Lysistrata at first...very solid and I wish I was there-thanks- to the double R... real nice show/recording here.~ Tony

BIRTHDAY. GOLDEN SLUMBERS>CARRY THAT WEIGHT>THE END.
Note:Ok, so now I don’t agree with what I said about the next night... it kinda is a shambles. I mean the musical parts to the Beatles tunes are largely a free for all. And seeing Denny Laine sing Live and Let Die, well you know...if I never hear Games People Play again, I’ll be happy...this recording is great, you can even hear ‘em dicking around before the show starts...Todd’s gtr is always way up in the mix but it should be, he is the main player, singer and talent here. This show is really Todd and the also rans, so it’s nice for that reason but I don’t want to hear, We Can Work It Out into Ride like the fricking wind...anyway-what a great find for the sound quality, Denny's and Joey's spots are nicely done, kind of a revue like circuit going for ‘em...Todd prob doesn’t mind seeing ‘em for these few shows but I think he is a rung or 2 above this level of talent..Anyhow, his gtr and vocs are up and he carries the show along as he goes...Rain is a highlight...torrid solo on OME but sound unbalanced...6/8 HIM. ..Todd stands on his own mountain after Weeps, nary a challenger here this night. Todd jokes about more sing-along’s and that’s what this degenerated to...gang lead vocals...Todd gtr way up in solos on the end...nice to hear..Thanks Hiroshi, Todd's last jaunt with Abbey -we now have 2 nites... Tony

BIRTHDAY. GOLDEN SLUMBERS>CARRY THAT WEIGHT> THE END.
Note:What a surprise...since there were only a couple of shows I knew about that Todd was involved, I had almost given up hope when Mr. Wessner. comes thru- sound is excellent, very small cheers and yap at points but nice recording on balance...As for the show, I was curious for sure...I heard it was not as good as the others, maybe because it’s the 3rd time around. But after hearing it, I’m not so sure I agree with that assessment. Granted, it is not as tight as the first 2 go rounds (but it is nowhere near as sloppy or ramshackle as I would have imagined). Here Todd is the number one featured star in this show for sure and this sucker has a lot of spirit....Joey Molland really did a superb job on his tunes..Denny Laine sang with unexpected improvisational flair...it worked most of the time...instrumentally it was a bit sloppy on those tunes but what the hey...nice to hear Todd and Joey Molland trade off on Golden Slumbers verses...there are a few digital small skips on the closer but not enough to cause concern..very nice to hear OME again even if the solo is a bit off the pace towards the end...you can feel this lineup would be a killer if they had time to really get it in the groove, but I think they played maybe 4 shows this year –So maybe this thing has played out, but it’s a shame especially for Joey Molland (Badfinger) and Denny Laine (Wings)...I really wish these guys would have been in a long running thing. This really was an enjoyable show to listen for front to end...personally I would prefer the solo stuff first, then go to the Beatles stuff but that’s a small bitch...(talking about bitch...Todd recalls writing HIM on south street...) thanks to Mr. Wessner. for preserving this rare gem for eternity...Btw, I don’t know what the review was talking about; which said there were problems between Todd and C. Cross?? No evidence of it here at all...Sounds like they had a great time...Weavil straightened me out about the Badfinger title and Molland w/ Todd on Slumbers...~ Tony
