Largest Collection On The Globe of Todd Rundgren Audio Rarities

Greetings Audio Toddheads! Warren H. (Atlanta, GA. USA) here. Tony Rogers and I have transferred our entire audio collections over to my home in 2008. We (Tony & I) thought my circumstances (A 62 year old, single, IT specialist/Audio Editor guy in Atlanta with lots of Todd Rundgren history/archival collecting since 1972) would be ideal for taking over the 'Library' in all its glory. And, so an 'incorporation' of his and my colossal collections takes place! I now curate this ‘museum’. And I plan to share much of this, just as Tony did all these decades. And yes, I’m somewhat of a Todd Rundgren Historian. I have been 'following' Todd extensively (in all forms of media) ever since I saw (and met) him here at an Historic Show at Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre on November 8 1973. So I know 'enough'. Please note that I say share my enthusiasm. No buying or selling. Nor will a penny exchange hands. Never.
I want to say a big THANK YOU in advance to all of you who are going to help and have helped with this so far. I’ll do my best. Write me anytime. twarrenh@gmail.com
Just scroll down to the items listed below by period and click on any year to browse the collection.
We've also recently been working in collaboration with my friend Frank Bubnick and his well known vast quality collection (you can visit his list by clicking on his name). Some of his editing is unequaled anywhere.
And some late breaking neat news : I believe most of you are familiar with the JEMS group. A bunch of super collectors for many bands’ audience recordings (predominate though are Yes and Springsteen). Well known for their re-mastering prowess and quality. They’ve been in contact with me for a couple of years, and in December of last year offered me all their (originals) Todd Rundgren Collection. They just didn’t have the resources or the time for refining anything by Todd Rundgren. It just wasn’t on their timeline. I received all their cassettes (60) within a few weeks! Most of them are MASTER tapes from the original Taper. They will be sending me all their DATs and Reels at a later date. I will be listing all these recordings here, as I digitally transfer them. With this addition of the JEMS collection I believe these Todd Rundgren Archives are easily the largest collection on the planet.
How do we share you ask? Well, Just for what it's worth, we really don't do the 'snail mail trading' (by postal) much these days. So, if you would like me to share or trade any of this 'Catalog' with you, it would be more convenient/easiest to share in the form of on-line file transfer. Generally, in .flac format, compressed to .zip or .rar for smoother/faster quality exchange [depending upon the size of the audio file(s) we might be exchanging of course]. Hope that all makes sense. I can work with you on 'all that'. Again, write me, and then we'll come to an agreement of sorts. Please keep in mind, that anything that is 'Official', or 'Professionally Marketed', or still available for 'Retail' purchase is not of consideration. Nor is there any monetary means of transaction.
I do not have any rights to, and I am not open for sharing any material that may be listed below that has been commercially or officially released and is still available retail. (It may be listed below for collection listing purpose only). I do not take or give any money for a single item below either. I do not take away any proceeds that are due to Todd Rundgren, family, friends, business or supporting/associated musicians. If it is ROIO (recording of independent origin), then I'm open to share. Support the artist! Go buy his stuff where and whenever available! Speaking of which; an ultimate place to find/buy Todd's releases and imports & rarities is TRBAZAAR. Check it out! If Scott ain't got it, nobody does...just about! And of course many past official CD/DVD releases and proprietary Todd merchandise is readily available for ordering on-line at The Toddstore. So check them out for sure.
I like to give credit where credit is due too. So please forgive me if I do not credit the right persons involved in making these recordings available/possible for all these years.
I’ll start a ‘Credits’ list here below, and maintain it on down the road. Like to make sure all the folks involved are appreciated. For now, let me go ahead and thank some folks that have really been instrumental in these archives (no particular order): Tony Rogers (of course), Mike Armes, Jeff Gauss 'Weavil' (RIP), Frank Bubnick, Paul Russo, Hiroshi Kawauchi, Istvan Berzenczei, Sara Kritzer, Barry Beiseigel, Marc Linowitz, Rob 'Lockjaw' Levangie, Roger Steel, Mike Adrian, Gil Ireland-Ashley, Jim Farrell, Dale Michelsohn, Gary Urwin, Don B., Bob Stanislowski (RIP), Micheal B., Jon Risen, Jon Babcock, Mark Wilpolt, Tom Cannon, Lin Sprague, Joe Franks, Chris 'Razz', Geoff (& Rick) Laurenzo, Ted Moon, Richard Roys, Storm Hunter, Moz (Mike), Sohta Fujito, David Skye, Allen Law, Matt Walsh, Kevin Lewis, Doug Ford, Dave Knife, JEMS, Jared Houser, Gene Poole, 'Elegymart', Gail Artsgard, Victor Baissait, Connor Payne and players to be named later. Special thanks to Roger Linder for providing this page space for us for decades. Let's Rock!
BTW, I call this group of people 'My Cartel'. However, I have given the group a Media name: F451 Media (as in 451 Farenheit). It is not a brand name, for nothing of mine is for sale or has been sold EVER. It is a logo for these dedicated Todd Rundgren Collectors , which most of been doing this since the early 90s (and even earler). Our logo is:

Date Title Source Time
4/29/00 TR-I '2K PARTAY' UNKNOWN (ISTVAN) 71:48
Date Added:5/1/2006
Track List:Program includes premiere solo but somewhat pissed version of ISP... I did not make it to this one but it sounded nice and alcohol fueled...lots of TR and KLB comments...a drunken ISP solo...Ruth’s Bday is a topic of discussion..Lots of ambience...nice document if you were there, if not, it’s ok to hear once.~ Tony
5/27/00 KALAMAZOO STATE THEATER AUDIENCE (DAT) 72:22/69:27
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN' ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. LOVE IN ACTION. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. BLACK AND WHITE. HIT ME LIKE A TRAIN. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. YER FAST. TEMPORARY SANITY. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED CD TWO: BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE SURF TALKS. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY. BONUS TRACKS FROM OTHER EARLY SHOWS (INCLUDES CLEVELAND): FIX YOUR GAZE. TRAPPED. CLICHE'. YER FAST. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. SECRET SOCIETY. HAMMER IN MY HEART. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. HAMMER IN MY HEART.
Note:This show was captured early in the tour. Todd’s voice and other vocals are clear but the sound is a bit distant due to the house sound/mix. Still a good recording and neat set list with Train included (sounded good 3 piece). As with the tour, Surf Talks is a momentum killer. This is a good one for an early status check.
6/2/00 KANSAS CITY BEAUMONT CLUB AUDIENCE (ROBERT KNIGHT)
Date Added:9/22/2002
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. THE IKON. YER FAST. CLICHE'. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. TEMPORARY SANITY. BLACK AND WHITE. TRAPPED. BUFFALO GRASS. CD TWO: HAMMER IN MY HEART. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:This is another listenable audie from KC - performance is decent. sound -there is some yap. You’ll want this if you were there but there are probably a few better than this sound quality wise-this tour produced a lot of people wanting it all...It was a pretty cool tour. Thanks Robert for turning this one up....
6/3/00 MINNEAPOLIS MINNESOTA ZOO EXCELLENT AUDIENCE (SOUNDS LIKE DAT) 66:08/42:38
Date Added:5/12/2002
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. YER FAST. TRAPPED. LOVE IN ACTION. PLAY THIS GAME. CLICHE'. BANG ON THE UKELELE. HIT ME LIKE A TRAIN. OPEN MY EYES. CD TWO: MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:Long after the fact-this really nice set comes in from Jamie Slatterty - where was it all this time? really nice recording-devoid of all yap and fairly well mixed -although Todd could be louder (gtr. wise)-like the other shows- but this something special and all who collect the better sounding shows from this tout will want this one-one thing that makes this special is the inclusion of hit me like a train which was rarely performed on this tour. In my opinion, it worked much better than the Surf Talks (which was a train wreck...) which is not here. Pretty tight for very early on. Nice one here.~ Tony
6/5/00 ENGLEWOOD COLORADO GOTHIC THEATER AUDIENCE(SOUNDS LIKE DIGITAL FORMAT) 60:41/44:08
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. FIX YOUR GAZE. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. TRAPPED. HIT ME LIKE A TRAIN. YER FAST. YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY. CD TWO: BANG THE UKE DAILY. SECRET SOCIETY. OPEN MY EYES. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. HAMMER IN MY HEART. THE SURF TALKS. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:Another late comer-great quality audience job from this supposed last tour. This sounds to me like it was recorded near a balcony with very little talk at all. The Band was starting to cook and background vocals are getting there/on the verge of arrival....this is another to hold us until Todd gets the recordings of Chicago, Anaheim, etc... into our hands...~ Tony
6/9/00 SEATTLE KING CAT THEATER AUDIENCE(DAT) 56:39/55:05
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FIRCKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. YER FAST. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. TRAPPED. FIX YOUR GAZE. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. PLAY THIS GAME. CD TWO: CLICHE'. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. LOVE IN ACTION. TEMPORARY SANITY. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:Beautiful DAT jobber in grunge-land by Mr. John Bronskill. For history's sake, this was the first us Left Coast show. The sound obviously was very good and balanced in the Cat. You may know John's work from the Seattle ‘98 solo shows...this one really sounds super. The Band is starting a fire...
6/11/00 MARITIME HALL SAN FRANCISCO CA AUDIENCE(DAT) 56:28/53:51
Track List:DISC ONE: INTRO.I HATE MY FRICKIN' ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. YER FAST. BLACK & WHITE. TRAPPED. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. # 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. OPEN MY EYES. LOVE IN ACTION. HIT ME LIKE A TRAIN. YOU'VE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY. DISC TWO: BANG ON THE UKE ALL DAY. TEMPORARY SANITY. COULDN'T I JUST TELL YOU. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN & BUSTED. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:Super fine DAT audience recording done by somebody who really knows how to do it. Very clear - good balance- good show-and little audience chatter. Note that ‘Hit Me Like A Train’ is still in the set at this time. It’s great that finally this tour has a good number of great sounding/recorded audience shows and this is one of the special ones. Although an audience recording, We get the whole show here, as opposed to the Pro - version official awsome DVD by Image Management which is very much available through on-line houses such as Amazon This DVD is ESSENTIAL for any Todd Fan. Grab it! Support the artist!~ Warren
6/18/00 ANAHEIM SUN THEATER AUDIENCE(DAT) 65:30/62:58
Track List:CD ONE: HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. HIT ME LIKE A TRAIN. LOVE IN ACTION. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. BLACK AND WHITE. YER FAST. TEMPORARY SANITY. THE IKON.OPEN MY EYES CD TWO: CLICHE'. BANG ON THE UKE ALL DAY. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. HAMMER IN MY HEART. THE SURF TALKS. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:Another great sounding result. This evidently was a poorly attended affair as Todd says before he plays a note:"the people are sure taking their time to fill the place up...” nonetheless, Todd and co plays a charged show and so charged that they restart train again. Train was gone after this but if you listen to the CDrs it actually sounds good 3 piece (better than 1/2 twist versions). However, Surf Talks continues to be a momentum killer (as there just is not enough live playing on it to make it work). Those items said, this was a high energy and excellent show captured beautifully. One of the better recordings of the tour. This was the show that Kaz broke his foot, and then appeared at Jaxxs with a cast that was placed on his foot at a DC area hospital on the 20th.~ Tour
6/20/00 SPRINGFIELD VA JAXXS AUDIENCE 70:27/70:32
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. FIX YOUR GAZE. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. COULDN'T I JUST TELL YOU. TRAPPED. YER FAST. CLICHE' (CUTS AT VERY END). BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. TEMPORARY SANITY. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES CD TWO: LOVE IN ACTION. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:Barry Beseigel has rescued this show in my collection. His version here is a significant upgrade of this first east Trio show from my master. This is a good show but Todd's guitar still is a bit low and the system did not provide a great sound that nite but Barry’s is still a strong recording and is the first fully "gimped" Kaz show.~ Tony
6/23/00 WESTBURY MUSIC FAIR WESTBURY LONG ISLAND AUDIENCE (MIKE ADRIAN- DAT/AUDIO TECH 802 MIC) 65:34/71:54
Date Added:11/29/2000
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN' ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. FIX YOUR GAZE. LOVE IN ACTION. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. YER FAST. SECRET SOCIETY. CLICHE'. BANG THE UKE DAILY. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. TRAPPED. CD TWO: THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. TEMPORARY SANITY. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. HAMMER IN MY HEART. THE SURF TALKS. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:Another great show caught by Mike Adrian. Great sound system, good balance and good show. The pacing of this show wrecked at Surf Talks, but on balance. a keeper for sure. This is spectacular as is right now.~ Tony... This recording has made it's way globally on the Web. It appears on many of the bootleg Blogspots. ESSENTIAL.~ Warren
6/24/00 UNCASVILLE CT MOHEGAN SUN CASINO AUDIENCE(DAT) 57:06/54:51
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. NO.1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. TRAPPED. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. PLAY THIS GAME. BLACK AND WHITE. CLICHE'. YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY CD TWO: SECRET SOCIETY. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. YER FAST. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:This well attended free show was captured on DAT by my bud Jim Farrell. Jim has done a number of great northeast captures for years now. Sound is good. Hall sound is present and big but not too distant. Very enjoyable. Again this show has a small problem in places where trey is the loudest and Todd's gtr. is too low (as was the big challenge on this tour for tapers). The order is a little different here and the yap factor is very low which is amazing considering the reports of chaos that I heard from others who attended this free show. Another fine job by Jim.~ Tony
6/26/00 PITTSBURGH METROPOL AUDIENCE(MINIDISC) 67:00/57:59
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. FIX YOUR GAZE. BLACK AND WHITE. TRAPPED. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. NO. 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. CLICHE'. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. CD TWO: THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. YER FAST. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. HAMMER IN MY HEART. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:This sounds about as good as a minidisc can do given the limitations of the tour. What I mean is the consistency of Todd gtr. being mixed too low, only 3 instruments in the mix and trey, who is a hard as hell hitter. Nevertheless, this is not bad. Btw, talked to Todd after the show and he told Cherry and I about the plans for Patronet to possibly have a recorded thing from this tour... this performance is reserved and confident- better than what we have from DC and the sound was better at this venue which was small and caverny...bonus is the "surreal (quote: Kurt s)" CNBC show where the band plays during a business and investment TV lunch show. The show essentially played a 2 hr inquiry into which other guest was a former Todd drummer. Kevin Ellman proves he's been into investments since he left for Beefsteak Charlie’s in ’75… tries to keep up but obviously doesn’t know the 4 piece Utopia arrangement played on the show...enjoy. This was recorded for later broadcast in Toronto. Sound is clear. ~ Tony
6/27/00 EIGHT SECOND SALOON INDIANAPOLIS IN AUDIENCE 57:46/49:03
Date Added:6/30/2002
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. TALK. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. HIT ME LIKE A TRAIN. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. TRAPPED. CLICHE'. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY CD TWO: BLACK AND WHITE. YER FAST. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. SECRET SOCIETY. TEMPORARY SANITY. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:Here’s a late comer I got from Eddie from Germany...not real bad recording but what is troublesome is the lack of low end- many times the bass is not audible and that means trouble when you have a 3 piece... if you were there you should have it cause it’s not that bad really of you crank up the low end (maybe someone can re-EQ??) but there are many better -but not a bad performance-on the whole, solos were about par for a Trio show...~ Tony
7/3/00 ROCHESTER MICHIGAN MEADOW BROOK MUSIC FESTIVAL AUDIENCE 34:39/60:22
Track List:CD ONE: (MISSING 1ST FEW) LOVE IN ACTION. TRAPPED. FIX YOUR GAZE. YER FAST. BLACK AND WHITE. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY CD TWO: BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. SECRET SOCIETY. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. TEMPORARY SANITY. HAMMER IN MY HEART. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:This was recorded by Marc Linovitz via mini-disc who did a great job here. You can hear some distance/larger hall size but what is important is that Todd’s gtr. is at a pretty good audible level the whole night. The first few tunes were not included but otherwise this is a solid recording and a decent performance by Todd and gang. Too bad it took the dudes this many shows to figure out Todd gtr. Should be louder...~ Tony
7/7/00 PHILADELPHIA KESWICK THEATER AUDIENCE 61:33/61:16
Date Added:1/21/2001
Track List: CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. YER FAST. TRAPPED. SECRET SOCIETY. LOVE IN ACTION. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE IN ACTION END. CLICHE'. BANG THE UKE DAILY. CD TWO: MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. HAMMER IN MY HEART. NO1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:Another come in after the bell from Mark Levine. This is very good and would be right about smack in the upper middle quality wise and performance a bit higher. Jessie came onstage and stayed from Mystified thru No 1 Lowest and again at the encores....let me specifically state that No 1 Lowest is absolutely the best I heard on this tour not only because of Jessie’s sparse playing but mainly because his presence freed up Kasim to get off and Kaz takes the song where it hadn’t been before with his playing...Anyhow, Ikon is a duel as expected with the Whiskey Train riff splashed liberally around. Good one with Todd exerting and playing good for family and friends.~ Tony
7/8/00 ATLANTIC CITY TRUMP'S TAJ MAHAL XANADU ROOM AUDIENCE(MINI -DISC) 59:49/45:09
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. PLAY THIS GAME. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. NO. 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. SECRET SOCIETY. HAMMER IN MY HEART. BLACK AND WHITE. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. COULDN'T I JUST TELL YOU. YOU'VE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. CD TWO: TEMPORARY SANITY. TRAPPED. YER FAST. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:Great sound system made a good show better. Todd was loose and let it all out ala Pittsburgh 99. Playing guitar a lot looser. Jessie shows up for the last 3. Really pretty fine and inspired performance. Todd even bore down an bit extra on the Ikon and then Jessie gets a solo as well and shows a little influence from what he’s been doing recently with Levin’s band...vocs really great... some throat probs but Todd grits it through on key ..."lunatic fringe, I know you’re out there". This one's pretty decent for an audience.
7/12/00 MONTREAUX JAZZ FESTIVAL W/ BB KING FM? ISTVAN 57:51
Date Added:4/6/2006
Track List:3 TRACKS BLUES JAMS INCL EVERDAY I GET THE BLUES
Note:This is one that Todd told me about in Dallas in 2003- I had heard a blurb about it but didn’t know what was up- this was post Power Trio guys...evidently, the Runt and his bride trekked off a few times recently to this event at the invite of the head of the whole thing-this was a blues jam-Todd told me the thought he sucked as they handed him a gtr and pushed him out on stage..well, the part about sucking was WRONG...he does acquit himself very well against these jazz and blues greats...and BB is very cordial and respectful....the cast include: Joe Sample, George Duke (former Zappa cohort), Clarence Gatemouth brown, Shamika Copeland (a modern blues gal vocalist)and our hero, Todd...This CD is punctuated every 5 min or so by a voice that says ..."Montreaux jazz life (or lite)"...later David Sanborn joins the gang...the music is pretty boring as most jams are with bb constantly peppering the solos with (to the audience): I CANT HEAR YOU!!!...I loved that part about it...in a perverse way...but all in all, I was very pleasantly surprised to see Todd play very well in the company of such esteemed artists, he was obviously being humble in his original portrayal of the event...Nice memento...~ Tony
8/5/00 PITTSBURGH THREE RIVERS REGATTA POINT STATE PARK AUDIENCE(MINI-DISC) 46:10/46:00
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. FIX YOUR GAZE. HAMMER IN MY HEART. TINY DEMONS. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY CD TWO: TRAPPED. BLACK AND WHITE. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. YER FAST. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:For exposure purposes, the most important gig of the tour. As Todd says, a half million people were there and about the place and Todd was the headliner. Actually about close to half were tuned in at the start and probably 50-100k paid attention thru the end. They did not allow the crowd into a gated area in front of the stage (reserved for radio winners and only about 1/3 full)-Todd refers to it, people are yelling constantly "open the gate". Probs with taping here were: outdoor gig (no walls), inability to get close, yap all around (Roger Steel and I were near the board for best sound), lighting system crashes (many people panicking/scrambling). All that being said, this turned out pretty good. Todd had 90 min to do his thing and so, the show was slightly truncated. Sound was pretty good for outdoors. Crowd response was large on several numbers and Todd does a good job of picking out the tunes/pacing. Someone from the record company needs to take advantage of this and sell some records! Upon leaving, it was hard to believe that Todd played for that large of a crowd (it took forever to walk thru the sea of people there to leave)...~ Tony
8/6/00 HARRISBURG PA WHITAKER CENTER FOR SCIENCE AND THE ARTS AUDIENCE 50:15/42:43
Track List: CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. BLACK AND WHITE. TRAPPED. FIX YOUR GAZE. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. I DONT WANT TO TIE YOU DOWN CD TWO: BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. YER FAST. SECRET SOCIETY. HAMMER IN MY HEART. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:This was recorded by my pal Barry Beseigel. Fine job of another fine show. Great sounding venue. Note: I Dont Want To Tie You Down - the only one from the tour.~ Tony
8/8/00 WILKES BARRE WOODLANDS AUDIENCE (DAT) TRANSFERED TO CD-R BY HIROSHI KAWAUCHI 47:56/54:36
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FIRCKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. YER FAST. LOVE IN ACTION (END). FIX YOUR GAZE. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. PLAY THIS GAME. TRAPPED. CD TWO: YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. SECRET SOCIETY. BLACK AND WHITE. HAMMER IN MY HEART. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:Another smoker from pt 2 of the tour. Mr. K records it well without much noise. Jessie also guests on this set as he was in town for this free show. As I’ve said before this tour has delivered and here's another real good one to add to the list.~ Tony
8/9/00 NEW YORK CITY IRVING PLAZA AUDIENCE(DAT) 66:37/48:23
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. TRAPPED. LOVE IN ACTION I. YER FAST. SECRET SOCIETY. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. FIX YOUR GAZE. TINY DEMONS. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY CD TWO: MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. LOVE IN ACTION II. HAMMER IN MY HEART. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:Super capture by Mark Steinberg w/o much talk at all. Hot show and yes, he plays Love In Action two times. No matter- each is great...the set gets a little standard on this 2nd leg but this is another great sounding show from this tour. Todd really plays wilder and wilder gtr leads as the tour goes on. ESSENTIAL~ Tony
8/11/00 Y-103 RIB & WINGFEST BOARDMAN OH AUDIENCE (DAT - HIROSHI) 51:36 / 49:30
Date Added:10/25/2000
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. FIX YOUR GAZE. LOVE IN ACTION. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. SECRET SOCIETY. PLAY THIS GAME. CD TWO: CLICHE'. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. YER FAST. TRAPPED. HAMMER IN MY HEART. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:This was recorded by our buddy Hiroshi Kawauchi. This was a hot show. As with other tapes at open airs, there are the loud ones in the crowd but this show makes up for it. This one is probably the best one out there now. A hot show/ hot gtr. / slightly ragged voice.-a great show near the end.~ Tony
8/12/00 LANCASTER CHAMELEON CLUB AUDIENCE 58:01/43:17
Track List:CD ONE: I HATE MY FRICKIN ISP. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. BLACK AND WHITE. YER FAST. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. LOVE IN ACTION. THERE GOES MY INSPIRATION. SECRET SOCIETY. TINY DEMONS. BANG ON THE UKE DAILY. CD TWO: TRAPPED. FIX YOUR GAZE. HAMMER IN MY HEART. BUFFALO GRASS. ONE WORLD. THE IKON. OPEN MY EYES. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY
Note:This was recorded too hot- Todd's voice does distort upon effort. Merely a place holder till we get a hold of another. Barry help me...music is great but the vocals get too hot on peaks...great crowd response. Nutzo crowd as well. Barry has come thru. His recording is superior to what I have, but unfortunately shows how much of the problem the house sound was...You had to feel it...the last full show ever????~ Tony
