Largest Collection On The Globe of Todd Rundgren Audio Rarities

Greetings Audio Toddheads! Warren H. (Atlanta, GA. USA) here. Tony Rogers and I have transferred our entire audio collections over to my home in 2008. We (Tony & I) thought my circumstances (A 62 year old, single, IT specialist/Audio Editor guy in Atlanta with lots of Todd Rundgren history/archival collecting since 1972) would be ideal for taking over the 'Library' in all its glory. And, so an 'incorporation' of his and my colossal collections takes place! I now curate this ‘museum’. And I plan to share much of this, just as Tony did all these decades. And yes, I’m somewhat of a Todd Rundgren Historian. I have been 'following' Todd extensively (in all forms of media) ever since I saw (and met) him here at an Historic Show at Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre on November 8 1973. So I know 'enough'. Please note that I say share my enthusiasm. No buying or selling. Nor will a penny exchange hands. Never.
I want to say a big THANK YOU in advance to all of you who are going to help and have helped with this so far. I’ll do my best. Write me anytime. twarrenh@gmail.com
Just scroll down to the items listed below by period and click on any year to browse the collection.
We've also recently been working in collaboration with my friend Frank Bubnick and his well known vast quality collection (you can visit his list by clicking on his name). Some of his editing is unequaled anywhere.
And some late breaking neat news : I believe most of you are familiar with the JEMS group. A bunch of super collectors for many bands’ audience recordings (predominate though are Yes and Springsteen). Well known for their re-mastering prowess and quality. They’ve been in contact with me for a couple of years, and in December of last year offered me all their (originals) Todd Rundgren Collection. They just didn’t have the resources or the time for refining anything by Todd Rundgren. It just wasn’t on their timeline. I received all their cassettes (60) within a few weeks! Most of them are MASTER tapes from the original Taper. They will be sending me all their DATs and Reels at a later date. I will be listing all these recordings here, as I digitally transfer them. With this addition of the JEMS collection I believe these Todd Rundgren Archives are easily the largest collection on the planet.
How do we share you ask? Well, Just for what it's worth, we really don't do the 'snail mail trading' (by postal) much these days. So, if you would like me to share or trade any of this 'Catalog' with you, it would be more convenient/easiest to share in the form of on-line file transfer. Generally, in .flac format, compressed to .zip or .rar for smoother/faster quality exchange [depending upon the size of the audio file(s) we might be exchanging of course]. Hope that all makes sense. I can work with you on 'all that'. Again, write me, and then we'll come to an agreement of sorts. Please keep in mind, that anything that is 'Official', or 'Professionally Marketed', or still available for 'Retail' purchase is not of consideration. Nor is there any monetary means of transaction.
I do not have any rights to, and I am not open for sharing any material that may be listed below that has been commercially or officially released and is still available retail. (It may be listed below for collection listing purpose only). I do not take or give any money for a single item below either. I do not take away any proceeds that are due to Todd Rundgren, family, friends, business or supporting/associated musicians. If it is ROIO (recording of independent origin), then I'm open to share. Support the artist! Go buy his stuff where and whenever available! Speaking of which; an ultimate place to find/buy Todd's releases and imports & rarities is TRBAZAAR. Check it out! If Scott ain't got it, nobody does...just about! And of course many past official CD/DVD releases and proprietary Todd merchandise is readily available for ordering on-line at The Toddstore. So check them out for sure.
I like to give credit where credit is due too. So please forgive me if I do not credit the right persons involved in making these recordings available/possible for all these years.
I’ll start a ‘Credits’ list here below, and maintain it on down the road. Like to make sure all the folks involved are appreciated. For now, let me go ahead and thank some folks that have really been instrumental in these archives (no particular order): Tony Rogers (of course), Mike Armes, Jeff Gauss 'Weavil' (RIP), Frank Bubnick, Paul Russo, Hiroshi Kawauchi, Istvan Berzenczei, Sara Kritzer, Barry Beiseigel, Marc Linowitz, Rob 'Lockjaw' Levangie, Roger Steel, Mike Adrian, Gil Ireland-Ashley, Jim Farrell, Dale Michelsohn, Gary Urwin, Don B., Bob Stanislowski (RIP), Micheal B., Jon Risen, Jon Babcock, Mark Wilpolt, Tom Cannon, Lin Sprague, Joe Franks, Chris 'Razz', Geoff (& Rick) Laurenzo, Ted Moon, Richard Roys, Storm Hunter, Moz (Mike), Sohta Fujito, David Skye, Allen Law, Matt Walsh, Kevin Lewis, Doug Ford, Dave Knife, JEMS, Jared Houser, Gene Poole, 'Elegymart', Gail Artsgard, Victor Baissait, Connor Payne and players to be named later. Special thanks to Roger Linder for providing this page space for us for decades. Let's Rock!
BTW, I call this group of people 'My Cartel'. However, I have given the group a Media name: F451 Media (as in 451 Farenheit). It is not a brand name, for nothing of mine is for sale or has been sold EVER. It is a logo for these dedicated Todd Rundgren Collectors , which most of been doing this since the early 90s (and even earler). Our logo is:

5/18/96 'GOODBYE MARIN' SAN FRANCISCO THE FILLMORE PRESIDIO BENEFIT AUDIENCE 77:32/65:15
Date Added:2/25/2002
Track List:CD ONE: INTRO BY RANDY RUNDGREN. SECRET SOCIETY. BLACK AND WHITE. UNLOVED CHILDREN. CLICHE'. PLAY THIS GAME. HONEST WORK. TINY DEMONS. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. FEEL IT. HIGHER AND HIGHER. NO1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY. BANG THE DRUM ALL DAY CD TWO: ONE WORLD. ENDING SPEECH.
Note:This left coast ‘one off’ shows Todd with Prairie, Vince, Larry for a rough unrehearsed fun run thru of the above tunes-Vince being the dead dude (guitar-wise) by now made for some interesting textures in familiar places like during the Todd solos of No 1 Lowest Common Denominator, Secret Society, etc, some chaos, some wild endings…This was Todd's last solo show before the move and his very last was the bonus stuff here w/ vwb. Bang has Todd on electric guitar! Peaks of "feel it" burn, but this is the worst Love of the Common Man you’ll ever hear.-wrong fret thing was happening to Todd...this is not like a board-it has some yap and some varied sound quality but it is listenable always-could use someone to edit some yap out of it- it’s not yap to the point of being annoying but to the contrary, very enjoyable and one of a kind for sure.~ Tony
8/24/96 POUGHKEEPSIE THE CHANCE AUDIENCE~ JOEL KONIKOW 56:23/64:12
Date Added:7/6/2005
Track List:CD ONE: BLACK MARIA. FAMILY VALUES. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. THE INDIVIDUALIST. WOMANS WORLD. FASCIST CHRIST. CD TWO: LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. HAMMER IN MY HEART. TABLES WILL TURN. BLACK AND WHITE. TEMPORARY SANITY. BANG I THE DRUM ALL DAY. MYSTIFIED/BROKEDWON AND BUSTED.(CUTS) BELOVED INFIDEL. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY (CUTS IN-MOSTLY NOT HERE)
Note:I think I got this tape from Joel a bit back...it has some cuts and has some house mix issues where the leads are sometimes buried but it is as clear of a recording as was possible then...this is pps night- hes all over the place from the start- building up polyrthymic tension and release all over the solos..Much in a style almost approaching Vince Colauita of Zappa on his guitar solo albums...just in the zone...bang is a joke ad hoc thing.....this was more loose than the 95 dates and more notes were played-the material was familiar to all involved..Sounds great but house mix at the point of recording is sometimes severely unbalanced (can't hear some leads at all)~ Tony
8/25/96 NEW HAVEN TOAD'S PLACE AUDIENCE (CarlThulu?) 68:38/50:54

CD TWO: NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. FASCIST CHRIST. BLACK AND WHITE. MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:The best audience source there is in my opinion from this tour. More to come from this era.~ Tony

DISC TWO: CLICHÉ. LYSISTRADA. BELOVED INFIDEL. NO.1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. CAST THE FIRST STONE. BLACK & WHITE. MYSTIFIED /BROKE DOWN & BUSTED (PART ONE). MYSTIFIED/BROKE DOWN & BUSTED (PART TWO). WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:Here’s a little explanation of what have here from Jon Babcock (And thank you Jon for your hard work!): “Another mess here, salvaged by cassettes supplied from Anthony Rogers & Frank Bubnick.
There are 3 tapes! There are no less than THREE tapes from NYC'96! Three Three Three! And not a DAT amongst 'em!
The best of them came from cassettes sent to Tony R, the 3rd source from Frank B.
All 3 ran through a (Teac) Esoteric Cassette deck, then through the SBM-1 and were brought onto the mac hard drive with the Onkyo SE-U55. Each one was a different capture from a different place in the crowd, but ONE of them had that rich old "mic onstage" sound. Unfortunately, it had a LOT of problems, and not the problems that can be solved by moving sliders on a PC-based interface "studio". The volumes fluctuated wildly in spots, there were dropouts, and overloaded spots, and a few unfortunate cuts. But it sounded SOOOO good! I worked overtime on this, fiddling with the volume knobs as much or more than the original taper must have. The result needed only a few patches from the other sources and has quite a few traces of fiddling, but it will blow your speakers away if you let it.
All of the tapes had tape flips in Hammer, but in slightly different spots. Tape Source 1was adjusted heavily and used for the bulk of this, with slight patches from the other sources. Tape Source 2was used for the patches. Tape Source 3 was used for 1 tiny little patch only. I forget exactly where. The tape flip in Mystified/BB&B isn't really a flip, but the recorder messing with the levels and there are overloads and then the tape and the recorder gets shut off for a few seconds. That's why it's in 2 parts. There was just nothing to patch in there. I remember Black & White being the first encore, but it's tough to tell what happened here.
Finally, NO EQ was used on these sources. They are raw the way the field equipment made them. All that's happened to the sound, is the Super-Bit-Mapping and the speed CXing.” ~ Jon

8/28/96 WASHINGTON DC THE BAYOU AUDIENCE 71:42/73:33
Track List:CD ONE: BLACK AND WHITE. SECRET SOCIETY. THE INDIVIDUALIST. HAMMER IN MY HEART. FASCIST CHRIST. BLACK MARIA. FAMILY VALUES. CLICHE'. BELOVED INFIDEL. CD TWO: TABLES WILL TURN. ONE WORLD. NO 1 LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY.
Note:This show was transferred because the quality of it is superb but the vocal performance was suffering. Cliché is probably the worst all time version of this tune. Jessie plays an amazing solo on beloved infidel. Playing is hot and the show is not as bad as I remember on 2nd listen... Todd just simply blew out the pipes the night before in NYC and this is what was left...a unique show and unfortunately for all of US DC area fans...His last stop at the legendary Bayou (it is now gone....)~ Tony

This is a fine recording and well worth a listen. Thanks to the taper (Wes) for capturing this show and sending me the DAT master”.
Wes’s (taper) notes: “The mics and DAT recorder were borrowed, from another taper, (but doesn't recall what type of mics were used).’The mics were tiny, that fit into my hat’.”

Note:Sounds very good and was probably coverted files from the liveconcerts.com broadcast. A great representation (like a board) of this tour. as you know, this was the tour when Todd started to dread the piano (some nights good, some bad). This aint too bad. Very enjoyable as Todd is in a good mood and performs well. ESSENTIAL
