Greetings Audio Toddheads! Warren H. (Atlanta, GA. USA) here. Tony Rogers and I have transferred our entire audio collections over to my home in 2008. We (Tony & I) thought my circumstances (A 62 year old, single, IT specialist/Audio Editor guy in Atlanta with lots of Todd Rundgren history/archival collecting since 1972) would be ideal for taking over the 'Library' in all its glory. And, so an 'incorporation' of his and my colossal collections takes place! I now curate this ‘museum’. And I plan to share much of this, just as Tony did all these decades. And yes, I’m somewhat of a Todd Rundgren Historian. I have been 'following' Todd extensively (in all forms of media) ever since I saw (and met) him here at an Historic Show at Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre on November 8 1973. So I know 'enough'. Please note that I say share my enthusiasm. No buying or selling. Nor will a penny exchange hands. Never.

We've also recently been working in collaboration with my friend Frank Bubnick and his well known vast quality collection (you can visit his list by clicking on his name). Some of his editing is unequaled anywhere.
And some late breaking neat news : I believe most of you are familiar with the JEMS group. A bunch of super collectors for many bands’ audience recordings (predominate though are Yes and Springsteen). Well known for their re-mastering prowess and quality. They’ve been in contact with me for a couple of years, and in December of last year offered me all their (originals) Todd Rundgren Collection. They just didn’t have the resources or the time for refining anything by Todd Rundgren. It just wasn’t on their timeline. I received all their cassettes (60) within a few weeks! Most of them are MASTER tapes from the original Taper. They will be sending me all their DATs and Reels at a later date. I will be listing all these recordings here, as I digitally transfer them. With this addition of the JEMS collection I believe these Todd Rundgren Archives are easily the largest collection on the planet.
How do we share you ask? Well, Just for what it's worth, we really don't do the 'snail mail trading' (by postal) much these days. So, if you would like me to share or trade any of this 'Catalog' with you, it would be more convenient/easiest to share in the form of on-line file transfer. Generally, in .flac format, compressed to .zip or .rar for smoother/faster quality exchange [depending upon the size of the audio file(s) we might be exchanging of course]. Hope that all makes sense. I can work with you on 'all that'. Again, write me, and then we'll come to an agreement of sorts. Please keep in mind, that anything that is 'Official', or 'Professionally Marketed', or still available for 'Retail' purchase is not of consideration. Nor is there any monetary means of transaction.
I do not have any rights to, and I am not open for sharing any material that may be listed below that has been commercially or officially released and is still available retail. (It may be listed below for collection listing purpose only). I do not take or give any money for a single item below either. I do not take away any proceeds that are due to Todd Rundgren, family, friends, business or supporting/associated musicians. If it is ROIO (recording of independent origin), then I'm open to share. And we thank you Gil! So we have Shows from the 2nd and the 5th, and now the 3rd (Late Show)!~ Warren Gil says, "Another one I was at (for the 2nd consecutive night). This was in the middle of the SF 49ers improbable run to their first Super Bowl, and you can hear a couple of references to the Niners from the crowd in this recording. We were home from college for the holidays, and watched the playoff win over the NY Giants in the afternoon (38-24) at Mom's; it had started raining during the latter part of the game, and as we headed into SF for the Todd show we encountered a mudslide on the freeway as we descended toward the Golden Gate Bridge. We queued up in the rain waiting for the 2nd show, and were soaked through and through by the time we took our seats. The crowd was, shall we say, boisterous; I admit: some (not all) of the obnoxious banter is me. It makes for a somewhat painful listening experience at times, but Todd is a consummate professional and rolls with it. Tomita and Time Heals videos are included; photos by Wes Weaver. Postscript: we went to Wes' house on the peninsula after the show, as we were headed back to LA the next day. Watching the TV news after we made it back, we saw the images of the flooding that plagued the Bay Area the day we left and considered ourselves lucky to have gotten out the area without incident. But part of our remembrance of that time is this "drowned rat" show at the Old Waldorf." |

There’s still some very slight distortion on some tunes but hardly audible. ‘When I Pray’ (with the Audience participation) is a little rough…And the ‘Soul Medley ‘ skips at 4:35 in on ‘I’m So Proud’. And again at 5:41 in, it cuts off the beginning of ‘La La Means I Love You’. Then the end of ‘I Saw the Light’ portion, cuts out near the end. Not much we could fix about that. But other than that, the Show’s complete. Todd, of course, is in rare form here; with his hilarious Banter. He teases the crowd a lot here, so there's lots of audience yells. But the performance is flawless. I’m thinking that this Show completes the ‘Archives’ of Todd’s Solo Stand at the Old Waldorf in 1982? So this is very rare and so very ESSENTIAL~ Warren |

'Party in the Park' is missing only a tune or so from its 25 minute broadcast and is notable for the premiere of One World, which was played here a month or two before its appearance on the Ian Hunter/ Todd show. Now, I may have missed some 'drop outs' and I don't think so, for there were many. But all in all, I didn't do much to this one except even out the levels. And some little fixes.There are some spikes here and there, but I decided not to mess with too many of those. Two Video tape presentations here that Todd did where does not perform/sing: An 'Unknown Title' Instrumental and 'Time Heals'. The Time Heals recording was unfortunately very distorted so I inserted the studio version (from Jeff Gauss's 'Weavil' 'first needle drop' from his virgin copy vinyl of 'Healing') with the intro and outro left in there. This is some pretty good stuff here. By this time, Todd was very much 'into' being in Utopia. Some of these solo shows were insisted by Bearsville, which they did not promote very well, and this did nothing for the sales of any of Todd's solo albums. Thus the small halls. The UK loved the solo shows, but in the US, not so much. However, listen to the fans at this show. THEY ARE EXCITED. Again thank you Geoff for this ESSENTIAL recording for our collections. It’s not great phonics, but very much a keeper for archiving sakes. The audience goes wild during the performance. Sounds like The Beatles are in the house! Of course Cleveland and Columbus love their Todd Rundgren concerts. Still do to this day. If you liked the 1982 solo shows/tour then this one would not disappoint you. Very entertaining and lots of fun (all tunes). It was the same solo set throughout the year intermixed with a couple of video presentations during the performance (an ‘abstract’ video segment, shades of early Grokgazer and the Todd processed and produced promo video for ‘Time Heals’ which made it widely on MTV in those days). Pretty much all just Todd…acoustic guitar, ‘Fool’ Gibson and piano except the soul medley has the prerecorded instruments (from AWATS) background. Not much tweaking was done on this one, other than fixing 'levels' and repairing 'drop outs'. But again the second tape showed the blunt of 34 years, and I had to 'reshell' it. And it has a little bit of different quality to it...you can notice....it begins with 'When I Pray'. For the most part this recording has a 'concert hall' sound/acoustics to it. And Todd's usual long banter between many of the tunes is hard to understand...for some reason he 'races' through it too. And the crowd noise is very prominent here. Todd mentions early that this is the second set of the night. And Geoff tells us that it was a packed house for the second show, and that it was pretty much just standing room. He couldn't get tickets for the first show. And I believe the first show was the one that was broadcast video locally in Ohio. Todd's two video presentatations (with audio tapes) leave much to be desired (Tracks 06 & 14), but otherwise,this a very good recording ~ Warren |

However, what I do list here is Jim Paige's own complete audio recording of the show which he grabbed off his TV/FM radio simulcast in the UK. Todd's performance is stellar and he has much enjoyment interacting between tunes with the London crowd. To listen to the 'Time Heals' audio of the video is a little boring, but Todd 'unplugged'in 1982 was far better than even his solo stuff he was doing in the (early) 2000s.'Tiny Demons' is particularly excellent here.I'm thinking that BBC knows that this was one of the best 'Old Grey Whistle Test(s)'ever.Thus the recent release.~ Warren |

My tape is a 1st gen cassette direct from the taper's master, since lost, so this is as good as we're gonna get. I did a raw transfer, took the .wav into audacity to break it into tracks and do some pitch correction. This whole thing about two shows ‘complete & then some’ is very interesting to me. For I listened and recorded live the FM radio Broadcast on Thanksgiving night as I also watched the simulcast too. I had no earthly idea that there were two shows (and recorded) for decades. And these soundboard recordings are magnificent. They are truly trophies for me as a Todd superfan and historian.
