Todd Rundgren/UTOPIA (and Related) Audio on CD-R ______ v05.2013

Greetings Audio Toddheads! Warren Hewetson (Atlanta, GA. USA) here. As most of you probably have already gathered; Tony Rogers and I have transferred all his audio collection over to my home in April of 2012. I don't speak for Tony, but in/around 2008, he had some exceptional changes in his family, business/practice, musicianship & life's interests. It somewhat prohibited his 'curatorship' of this vast historical collection of obscurities, rarities & Toddities. Me having been a long time friend, and somewhat of a 'side kick' collector/enthusiast; We (Tony & I) thought my 'sitrep' (58, single, IT guy in Atlanta with lots of TR history/archival collecting since 1973) would be ideal for taking over the 'Library' in all its glory. I plan to share openly, just as Tony did all these decades. Am I an authority? Hell no. But been following Todd in all forms of media ever since I saw/met him here at the Atlanta Fox Nov. 8 1973. So I know a little bit. I want to say a big THANK YOU in advance to all of you who are going to help and have helped with this so far. I’ll do my best. Write me anytime. twarrenh@bellsouth.net
Having said all that, I'll be making changes to some of Tony's descriptions here as a form of update. I like to give credit where credit is due too. So please forgive me if I do not credit the right persons involved in making these recordings available/possible. Feel free to correct me on who's responsible for what, but do not ask me to change artist information, line-ups, set-lists, venues and or dates. In addition, most of the Tubes related media will not be included in the collection. And from around 2008 and beyond; the library here is not covered too extensively. My partner in crime~ Jeff Gauss (Weavil) has offered to help me out with much of that. Visit: Weavil's Toddlist. With Jeff's help, this is arguably one of the (if not THE) largest most extensive archival collections of Todd's rare audio on the planet.
I do not have any rights to, and I am not open for sharing any material that may be listed below that has been commercially or officially released and is still available retail. (It may be listed below for collection listing purpose only). I do not take or give any money for a single item below either. I do not take away any proceeds that are due to Todd Rundgren, family, friends, business or supporting/associated musicians. If it is ROIO (recording of independent origin),then I'm open to share. Support the artist! Go buy his stuff where and whenever available! Speaking of which; the ultimate place to find/buy Todd's releases and imports & rarities is TRBAZAAR. Check it out ! If Scott ain't got it it, nobody does...just about!
I give Tony a ton of applause for his relentless cause of collecting this stuff from around the globe. You can write him at the TRconnection Forum and thank him too. We've also recently been working in collaboration with my friend Frank Bubnick and his well known vast quality collection (you can visit his list by clicking on his name). WOW! Maybe I can do a "Credits" list here below, on down the road. Like to make sure all the folks involved are appreciated. For now, let me go ahead and thank some folks that have really been intrumental in these archives (no particular order): Tony Rogers (of course), Jeff Gauss (Weavil), Frank Bubnick, Paul Russo, Hiroshi Kawauchi, Istvan, Roger Steel, Mike Adrian, Gil Ireland-Ashley, Gary Urwin, Don B., Bob Stanislowski (RIP), Micheal B., Jon Risen, Jon Babcock, Mark Wilpolt, Tom Cannon, Joe Franks, Richard Roys, Storm Hunter, Sara K., Moz, and players to be named later. Special thanks to Roger Linder for providing this page space for decades. Let's Rock!

Note:One of the classic boots has now been expanded to two, with addition of more of the show. The Disc Two stuff is slightly less quality than Disc One but is still fab. It is definitely worth getting for the full Singring. ESSENTIAL

Note:Got this refurbished treat from Hiroshi. Sounds as good as it ever has- a decent listenable older UK audience recording. The funny thing is; the inclusion of Boogies... which we've never seen or heard of being performed elsewhere other than the '76 tour.
1/30/77 APOLLO THEATRE GLASGOW SCOTLAND AUDIENCE - DIGITAL TRANSFER WARREN N/A

EMERGENCY SPLASHDOWN. THE VERB TO LOVE. THE WHEEL.FREEDOM FIGHTERS. MR TRISCUITS/SOMETHING'S COMING. HEAVY METAL KIDS. HIROSHIMA. SINGRING AND THE GLASS GUITAR (INCOMPLETE)

2/1/77 LONDON NEW VICTORIA THEATER - FIRST NIGHT AUDIENCE SOURCE 68:27/65:04
Track List: CD ONE: LOVE REUNION. PIPELINE. ANGELO'S DISCO. SWEET LITTLE SUZIE. INTRO. COMMUNION WITH THE SUN. SUNSET BLVD./LE FEEL INTERNACIONALE. THE LAST RIDE. JEALOUSY. SUNBURST FINISH. WINDOWS. SINGRING AND TNE GLASS GUITAR. BOOGIES (HAMBURGER HELL). JUST ONE VICTORY
Note:This one came from Frank Bubnick, and is clearly from somebody else's re-producted cassettes. Very interesting set list, each song fades in and out (by whoever dubbed it & tracked it).The sound is somewhat distant but still is listenable, and is important for it includes Love Reunion (in the pre-show video/music). Nice addition to see where they were before they came to the US.~ Warren
2/2/77 LONDON NEW VICTORIA THEATER - SECOND NIGHT GARY URWIN - AUDIENCE 72:19/63:14
Date Added:1/16/2003
Track List:CD ONE: INTRO/COMMUNION WITH THE SUN. WHEN THE SHIT HITS THE FAN/SUNSET BLVD. LE FEEL INTERNCIONALE. THE LAST RIDE. JEALOUSY. SUNBURST FINISH. WINDOWS. THE IKON> EMERGENCY SPLASHDOWN. LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. (INTERMISSION). THE WHEEL. INTRO/MR TRICUITS. SOMETHING'S COMING. DEATH OF ROCK AND ROLL. HEAVY METAL KIDS. CD TWO: SOMETHING'S COMING (FADES IN FROM PROB. TRISCUITS). THE DEATH OF ROCK AND ROLL. HIROSHIMA. SINGRING AND THE GLASS GUITAR. BOOGIES (HAMBURGER HELL). JUST ONE VICTORY.
Note:Thanks Gary for sending this one to us. A strange Ikon intro... Emergency Splashdown is strange, and so is playing Boogies instead of CIJTY. Then Death of Rock n Roll is in a strange slot, and is absolutely pedestrian - very slow -. May have been when it was first whipped back out with Kaz singing it...anyway-it is neat, and this is (as verified by Todd in banter) the last show of the spring warm up gigs. Yes,the sound is super. Complete as can be from the source himself. ESSENTIAL~ Warren
3/6/77 MID HUDSON POUGHKEEPSIE AUDIENCE - TRANSFER BY HIROSHI 78:01/75:01
Date Added:10/13/2003
Track List:CD ONE: INTRO. MAGIC DRAGON THEATER. LOVE REUNION. PIPELINE 78. SWEET LITTLE SUZIE (ANGELO'S DISCO?). INSTRUMENTAL-ALL INTRO TAPED/VIDEO MUSIC. OVERTURE AND SUNRISE/COMMUNION WITH THE SUN. WHEN THE SHIT HITS THE FAN/SUNSET BLVD./LE FEEL INTERNACIONALE. THE LAST RIDE. JEALOUSY. EASTERN INTRIGUE>LOVE OF THE COMMON MAN. THE SEVEN RAYS. THE WHEEL. THE IKON>EMERGENCY SPLASHDOWN. CD TWO: FREEDOM FIGHTERS. ETERNAL LOVE. MR TRISCUITS>SOMETHINGS COMING. THE DEATH OF ROCK AND ROLL. HEAVY METAL KIDS. HIROSHIMA. SINGRING AND THE GLASS GUITAR. UTOPIA THEME. COULDNT I JUST TELL YOU. JUST ONE VICTORY.
Note:This one too is special, 'cause of the decently recorded preamble music. These intro tunes would be nice to turn up on a rarities collection (thanks to Kazim for including it on his 'Quid' release as a hidden track - Love Reunion). Sweet Little Suzie quotes the melody from Hoi Polloi 3 years before it was recorded. An expanded hometown setlist compared to the Atlanta (below)..but Atlanta is better soundwise, and this one has some yap. But is nice due to the unobscured appearance of the intro tunes and the unlikely performance of Ikon & Emergency Splashdown..thanks again to Hiroshi~ Tony

UTOPIA THEME. JUST ONE VICTORY. BONUS: POST SHOW INTERVIEW IN THE BLUE ROOM AT THE FAMOUS FOX THEATRE(17 MINS)
Note:This is a very strong audience recording with little to zero yap. Jealousy is real strong and the jazz/acid tinged Eternal Love center section has a lot of trippy echo on it... and the tune is over ten minutes long...at the old Fox Theatre. Gave Warren credit for the recording on a Sony compact cassette recorder/player. How it surfaced in Japan he/we do not know! Hiroshi transfered it to digital. Thanks my friends~ Tony
