Todd Rundgren/UTOPIA (and Related) Audio on CD-R ______ v05.2013

Greetings Audio Toddheads! Warren Hewetson (Atlanta, GA. USA) here. As most of you probably have already gathered; Tony Rogers and I have transferred all his audio collection over to my home in April of 2012. I don't speak for Tony, but in/around 2008, he had some exceptional changes in his family, business/practice, musicianship & life's interests. It somewhat prohibited his 'curatorship' of this vast historical collection of obscurities, rarities & Toddities. Me having been a long time friend, and somewhat of a 'side kick' collector/enthusiast; We (Tony & I) thought my 'sitrep' (58, single, IT guy in Atlanta with lots of TR history/archival collecting since 1973) would be ideal for taking over the 'Library' in all its glory. I plan to share openly, just as Tony did all these decades. Am I an authority? Hell no. But been following Todd in all forms of media ever since I saw/met him here at the Atlanta Fox Nov. 8 1973. So I know a little bit. I want to say a big THANK YOU in advance to all of you who are going to help and have helped with this so far. I’ll do my best. Write me anytime. twarrenh@bellsouth.net
Having said all that, I'll be making changes to some of Tony's descriptions here as a form of update. I like to give credit where credit is due too. So please forgive me if I do not credit the right persons involved in making these recordings available/possible. Feel free to correct me on who's responsible for what, but do not ask me to change artist information, line-ups, set-lists, venues and or dates. In addition, most of the Tubes related media will not be included in the collection. And from around 2008 and beyond; the library here is not covered too extensively. My partner in crime~ Jeff Gauss (Weavil) has offered to help me out with much of that. Visit: Weavil's Toddlist. With Jeff's help, this is arguably one of the (if not THE) largest most extensive archival collections of Todd's rare audio on the planet.
I do not have any rights to, and I am not open for sharing any material that may be listed below that has been commercially or officially released and is still available retail. (It may be listed below for collection listing purpose only). I do not take or give any money for a single item below either. I do not take away any proceeds that are due to Todd Rundgren, family, friends, business or supporting/associated musicians. If it is ROIO (recording of independent origin),then I'm open to share. Support the artist! Go buy his stuff where and whenever available! Speaking of which; the ultimate place to find/buy Todd's releases and imports & rarities is TRBAZAAR. Check it out ! If Scott ain't got it it, nobody does...just about!
I give Tony a ton of applause for his relentless cause of collecting this stuff from around the globe. You can write him at the TRconnection Forum and thank him too. We've also recently been working in collaboration with my friend Frank Bubnick and his well known vast quality collection (you can visit his list by clicking on his name). WOW! Maybe I can do a "Credits" list here below, on down the road. Like to make sure all the folks involved are appreciated. For now, let me go ahead and thank some folks that have really been intrumental in these archives (no particular order): Tony Rogers (of course), Jeff Gauss (Weavil), Frank Bubnick, Paul Russo, Hiroshi Kawauchi, Istvan, Roger Steel, Mike Adrian, Gil Ireland-Ashley, Gary Urwin, Don B., Bob Stanislowski (RIP), Micheal B., Jon Risen, Jon Babcock, Mark Wilpolt, Tom Cannon, Joe Franks, Richard Roys, Storm Hunter, Sara K., Moz, and players to be named later. Special thanks to Roger Linder for providing this page space for decades. Let's Rock!

Note:We'll just share this review by Jay Petrarca as opposed to our critique.chuckle chuck: "I waited a week to write this review so as to give myself some time to calm down. I've been a Todd fan since 1980 and have gone to well over 60 shows. I love going to Todd Rundgren concerts. To me it doesn't matter what kind of music he plays I want to see him perform. I went into this performance blind. I didn't read the reviews or the setlists (I don't think any were posted). I knew from a Todd interview to expect lights and lots of dancing. I thought and hoped that he would open with Imagination. I thoroughly enjoyed that number. But after that I must admit I was somewhat disappointed and it has nothing to do with the music. My biggest disappointment was that he play for only an hour and 1/2. I drove well over two hours with two of my brothers and we all paid close to 80 bucks to see a 90 minute show. Now, I know Todd doesn't set the price, but 90 minutes? That's weak, IMHO. There's no reason he couldn't have added another 30 minutes. Also, he didn't play the guitar except for the first song. During the NWO tour he jammed on Secret Society, why not this time? He was just pushing buttons. And lastly, I wasn't thrilled with the encore. Maybe if I got two hours worth of music it wouldn't have been so bad. But the Donna Summer ending... I wish I had the chance to watch the PPV first. I would've saved 60 bucks and 7 hours of my time. I will be going to future Todd shows, but only if I get my money's worth." Superd audience recording however. Thank you Jon!~ Warren

Note:THE Webcast . WOW. I grabbed the audio from the streaming live show… and If you like ‘State’, then you will love this…. and it is essential to you. The album performed live in its entirety, and flawlessly except for a false beginning to Truth. Jesse does the guitar work here…. and Prairie on the electronic drums and DJ Odd Todd on Vocals and Computer. The medleys done in a unique fashion between ‘With a Twist’, jazz and dance prog fusion. Nothing to Lose and Personality Crisis are particular surprises too. Certainly a show that is as meant to be seen as is to hear. Of course strictly a ‘dance’ presentation. And it will get you tapping your feet.
