Largest Collection On The Globe of Todd Rundgren Audio Rarities

Greetings Audio Toddheads! Warren H. (Atlanta, GA. USA) here. Tony Rogers and I have transferred our entire audio collections over to my home in 2008. We (Tony & I) thought my circumstances (A 62 year old, single, IT specialist/Audio Editor guy in Atlanta with lots of Todd Rundgren history/archival collecting since 1972) would be ideal for taking over the 'Library' in all its glory. And, so an 'incorporation' of his and my colossal collections takes place! I now curate this ‘museum’. And I plan to share much of this, just as Tony did all these decades. And yes, I’m somewhat of a Todd Rundgren Historian. I have been 'following' Todd extensively (in all forms of media) ever since I saw (and met) him here at an Historic Show at Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre on November 8 1973. So I know 'enough'. Please note that I say share my enthusiasm. No buying or selling. Nor will a penny exchange hands. Never.
I want to say a big THANK YOU in advance to all of you who are going to help and have helped with this so far. I’ll do my best. Write me anytime. twarrenh@gmail.com
Just scroll down to the items listed below by period and click on any year to browse the collection.
We've also recently been working in collaboration with my friend Frank Bubnick and his well known vast quality collection (you can visit his list by clicking on his name). Some of his editing is unequaled anywhere.
And some late breaking neat news : I believe most of you are familiar with the JEMS group. A bunch of super collectors for many bands’ audience recordings (predominate though are Yes and Springsteen). Well known for their re-mastering prowess and quality. They’ve been in contact with me for a couple of years, and in December of last year offered me all their (originals) Todd Rundgren Collection. They just didn’t have the resources or the time for refining anything by Todd Rundgren. It just wasn’t on their timeline. I received all their cassettes (60) within a few weeks! Most of them are MASTER tapes from the original Taper. They will be sending me all their DATs and Reels at a later date. I will be listing all these recordings here, as I digitally transfer them. With this addition of the JEMS collection I believe these Todd Rundgren Archives are easily the largest collection on the planet.
How do we share you ask? Well, Just for what it's worth, we really don't do the 'snail mail trading' (by postal) much these days. So, if you would like me to share or trade any of this 'Catalog' with you, it would be more convenient/easiest to share in the form of on-line file transfer. Generally, in .flac format, compressed to .zip or .rar for smoother/faster quality exchange [depending upon the size of the audio file(s) we might be exchanging of course]. Hope that all makes sense. I can work with you on 'all that'. Again, write me, and then we'll come to an agreement of sorts. Please keep in mind, that anything that is 'Official', or 'Professionally Marketed', or still available for 'Retail' purchase is not of consideration. Nor is there any monetary means of transaction.
I do not have any rights to, and I am not open for sharing any material that may be listed below that has been commercially or officially released and is still available retail. (It may be listed below for collection listing purpose only). I do not take or give any money for a single item below either. I do not take away any proceeds that are due to Todd Rundgren, family, friends, business or supporting/associated musicians. If it is ROIO (recording of independent origin), then I'm open to share. Support the artist! Go buy his stuff where and whenever available! Speaking of which; an ultimate place to find/buy Todd's releases and imports & rarities is TRBAZAAR. Check it out! If Scott ain't got it, nobody does...just about! And of course many past official CD/DVD releases and proprietary Todd merchandise is readily available for ordering on-line at The Toddstore. So check them out for sure.
I like to give credit where credit is due too. So please forgive me if I do not credit the right persons involved in making these recordings available/possible for all these years.
I’ll start a ‘Credits’ list here below, and maintain it on down the road. Like to make sure all the folks involved are appreciated. For now, let me go ahead and thank some folks that have really been instrumental in these archives (no particular order): Tony Rogers (of course), Mike Armes, Jeff Gauss (Weavil), Frank Bubnick, Paul Russo, Hiroshi Kawauchi, Istvan, Sara Kritzer, Barry Beiseigel, Roger Steel, Mike Adrian, Gil Ireland-Ashley, Dale Michelsohn, Gary Urwin, Don B., Bob Stanislowski (RIP), Micheal B., Jon Risen, Jon Babcock, Mark Wilpolt, Tom Cannon, Joe Franks, Chris 'Razz', Geoff (& Rick) Laurenzo, Ted Moon, Richard Roys, Storm Hunter, Moz (Mike), Sohta Fujito, David Skye, Allen Law, Matt Walsh, Kevin Lewis, Doug Ford, Dave Knife, JEMS, Jared Houser and players to be named later. Special thanks to Roger Linder for providing this page space for us for decades. Let's Rock!
BTW, I call this group of people 'My Cartel'. However, I have given the group a Media name: F451 Media (as in 451 Farenheit). It is not a brand name, for nothing of mine is for sale or has been sold EVER. It is a logo for these dedicated Todd Rundgren Collectors , which most of been doing this since the early 90s (and even earler). Our logo is:

5/8/72 RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL NY (w/HELLO PEOPLE) AUDIENCE (UPGRADE) 32:00
Date Added:3/30/2019
Track List:BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. PISS AARON. IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. I SAW THE LIGHT. BAND INTRO. LADY ON A TERRACE. GEORGIA SWING. SLUT. WOLFMAN JACK
Note:This is my age old audience cassette that I decided to do some 'area beautification' to. I brought a lot 'up front'. I believe this is the best this recording will get. It still has that 'large venue' phonics. But it is what it is. They were second on the bill to The Jeff Beck Group, so I think the the stage and monitors were set up in a hurry up fashion for their 32 Minute Set. You'll hear Todd complain about the sound and the lighting system. SLUT is a little rough, and I got 'Wolfman Jack' from Istvan's Archives, for my tape version of the song 'tape warbles'. Istvan's version was tempo/speed corrected muchly! Very rare capture of Todd Live, after the 'Something/Anything?' Release.~ Warren

5/18/72 THE ORPHEUM THEATRE (FORMERLY THE AQUARIUS) w/HELLO PEOPLE BOSTON MA AUDIENCE - UPGRADE FROM TAPER'S MASTER (COURTESY FRANK BUBNICK) 30:00
Date Added:3/30/2019
Track List:(CUTS IN)BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. PISS AARON. IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. I SAW THE LIGHT.HELLO IT'S ME. BLAZE. LADY ON A TERRACE. GEORGIA SWING.SLUT (ABORTED)
Note:Another age old Audience recorded Cassette (1st Gen from Mono Master), that we decided to improve, from the three May 1972 Shows that we have. Still that 'Concert Hall' phonics that we can do nothing about, but I brought the instrumentation and vocals way up front, and did some Stereo Seperation. I also split the tracks so that the intros are before the corresponding song, as opposed to the previous song (as is the versions out there in wide circulation). 'Broke Down & Busted' is a little rough and I removed the part of the beginning that has a big tape slip, where the song cuts in anyway. All this is unfortunate, for I believe 'Broke Down & Busted' is the strongest performance of ALL the May 1972 Shows. The rest of the tracks are 'killer'. 'SLUT' is of course cut short, 'cause we all know the story of how Jeff Beck's jealous Crew pulled some plugs...And Todd tells us that here. But we get 37 minutes of pure History and this is a mighty upgrade. ESSENTIAL~ Warren *The Orpheum Theater changed names to The Aquarius for a few short years. I believe 1971 & 72. It is still called 'The Orpheum Theatre ' today however."

5/26/72 CURTIS HIXON HALL (w/HELLO PEOPLE) TAMPA FL AUDIENCE (UPGRADE) 30:00
Date Added:3/31/2019
Track List:OUTSIDE LOVE. BROKE DOWN AND BUSTED. PISS AARON. I SAW THE LIGHT. BLAZE. GEORGIA SWING.SLUT Note: About the best tunes to come from this May 1972 Show Audience Recording are only 'Piss Aaron' and 'I Saw The Light'. The bass is very much distorted on this 1st gen Cassette (for those of you that have this recording , which is in wide circulation, will know what I mean). This is probably the 'roughest' out of the three May 1972 Shows with the Hello People. I've reduced the distortion as best as can be done, and did some stereo seperation (for it was in mono). It is now very much enjoyable and actually is a killer Show. Still that 'large venue' phonics, but that is what it is. If you can get past the now slight distortion, you'll love this! Strong evidence points to the fact that Todd was second on the Bill to Alice Cooper (Head Liner).~ Warren
P.S. This is the only May 1972 Show where you hear some strong Sax on 'Broke Down & Busted'. Todd maybe?

This solely for collection listing purposes (Not for sharing of course). Actually, I grabbed the audio off the video, and separated into 2 sets for my own CDs. Cleopatra's CD Set has fade outs/ins for these live tracks. I don't understand why they do that. But what a long awaited high grade professional production (one year and 10 mos.) of the BlueRay and DVDs! Nice package too. I encourage anybody that’s even heard of Utopia to buy this. Very reasonably priced. Thank you Purple Pyramid/Cleopatra Records! One for the ‘Trophy shelf’.

Lostbrook says, “I guess the best way to describe this show is to let Todd speak for himself as he quotes Chuckles the Clown (from the Mary Tyler Moore Show) in the intro: ‘We're gonna do a little of this, a little of that, a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants.’”

On-Line News says, "Kaufman Music Center's dynamic Face the Music youth program for an afternoon of invigorating new music. The performance showcases repertoire commissioned for ETHEL and developed during the quartet's 2018-19 residency with Face the Music at Kaufman Music Center." AND they (Ethel) invited Todd to do a short performance of music that they've played many time together since 2005 (except for the silly 'Menamenah'... Which is new). I include not only Todd & Ethel's performances but 'jawnstuff' gives us the whole show here (so I include Ethel's & Face The Music's String pieces here too. Note:I'm thinking that this 'one off' was performed at the 'Adult Swim' Studios here in Atlanta. The night before the April 10th Individualist Show at the Buckhead Theater. For they have used the Studios before and it's where 'Squidbillies' is Produced. I've seen the studios, and the video that I've seen of this appears to be there (We have a 'spoiler' Video of the 'Hash Pipe' performance). I wish we had the entire video of all the performances, but I do not have access to watch/or hear Sirius XM. So all we have is the audio thanks to Roger Steele!~ Warren

Note:Mint Audience Soundboard-like Recording by my buddy Mike Mosner ('Moz')! Mike recorded both nights (Yes, second night coming tomorrow)! Amazing...I do not know how he , on this night, rolled Todd's vocals down. For Todd's Microphone Monitor was blowing our hair back! As all attendess of both nights will say; this was the best of the two nights energy-wise. Atlanta came un-glued! Especially on 'Black & White'. The entire crowd rushed forward and danced in every isle. You'll hear Todd say to the security (idiots), 'Let my people dance'!
All I did was bring out some highlights and tried to add some bass (which was difficult with out a bass hum throughout). But Mike did all the hard work and we thank him so much! HISTORY & ESSENTIAL~ Warren

Again, As all attendess of both nights will say; The energy of the Band and the Crowd was better the First Night...But the sound was better this Second Night. Altogether a different Second Set this Night. But did we need a 10:29 Bossa Nova Version of 'Born To Synthesize?!? I guess it was to accent Bobby Strickland. Guess 'Kindness', 'Kiddie Boy' and 'Fade Away' make up for 'dat! But WE love Todd and Todd loves Atlanta, so the Performances are always spot on! Speaking of 'spot on', so was Mike capturing this! Now, having said that, for you audiophiles out there, and your audio spectrographs, don't bother to look. Because this one is amplified (just as I like it) and caps out in places on the hard rockin' tunes. However, the magnificent phonics are 'spot on'!
