This one *is* EZ - really, I mean it this time! Despite Todd's a capella choir arrangement, I hear this as a standard Dylan/Guthrie-type acoustic guitar protest song. All the chords are played in the first (nut) position. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Johnee Jingo Am G C C G Am He was just fifteen, he was a new trainee He lied about it for the opportunity To defend the border his life was sworn Though not a generation was native born Em G Am G Am Johnee Jingo Am G C G Am Johnee Ji -- ngo He had lost the battle but won the war When the generals said he couldn't fight no more He was proud and bitter at what he'd done So he passed it off to his favorite son Johnee Jingo Johnee Jingo Jingo don't you fight for me, Jingo don't you speak for me Jingo don't you fight for me, Jingo don't you speak for me F E7sus4 E7 To the man who owns the land - We're all the same Am F/A C/G F But when his grip begins to slip, Then he'll be calling out your name Em G Am G Am Am G/B C G/B Am Johnee Jingo Johnee Jingo And the throne, the pulpit, and the politician Create a thirst for power in the common man It's a taste for blood passed off as bravery Or just patriotism hiding bigotry --------------------------------------------------------------------- He was just fifteen, he was a new trainee... Sometimes I hear it as a G. They both work in the context of the melody. --------------------------------------------------------------------- About my tab style: This message should be displayed in a mono-spaced font (e.g. courier,) or the chord diagrams and tablatures will look unaligned. The letter to the left of the slash in chord names like "A/D" refers to a triad, and the letter to the right refers to the bass note only. The number directly to the left of the chord diagram is the position on the guitar neck (or closest fret). "x" along the top means mute or deaden that string, "o" means let it ring open. If you see any mistakes, or have any corrections or alternate ways of playing any of my tabs, I'd love to hear from you.
