Blue Orpheus

If you want to cry
You can always find something to cry about
It's so easy to be wise
Over someone else's tears
But you have a gift
That the rest of us just can't live without
And it's something in your voice
When you tell us how you feel

'Cause we've all loved something and lost it
And it's burning my heart
I can't open my mouth and just let it out

But when I hear my Blue Orpheus sing
I know that life is a wonderful thing
Somewhere there's love and perpetual spring
I know life is a wonderful thing

Seems so long ago
The sound of your joy filled the atmosphere
We can make it on our own
But the road is so rocky and steep
And when you feel lost
No one tells you what you need to hear
And the only dream you have
Is the one that's in your sleep

'Cause we soon forget what we're here for
I need someone to say he's got dreams of his own
I'll know I'm not alone

I want to hear my Blue Orpheus sing
I'll know that life is a wonderful thing
Somewhere there's love and perpetual spring
I'll know life is a wonderful thing

Sing
You will one day be together again
Though you can not see her
Sing
She is somewhere in the world

Johnee Jingo

He was just fifteen, he was a new trainee
He lied about it for the opportunity
To defend the border his life was sworn
Though not a generation was native born

Johnee Jingo
Johnee Jingo

He had lost the battle but won the war
When the generals said he couldn't fight no more
He was proud and bitter at what he'd done
So he passed it off to his favorite son

Johnee Jingo
Johnee Jingo
Jingo don't you fight for me
Jingo don't you speak for me

To the man who owns the land
We're all the same
But when his grip begins to slip
Then he'll be calling out your name
Johnee Jingo

And the throne, the pulpit, and the politician
Create a thirst for power in the common man
It's a taste for blood passed off as bravery
Or just patriotism hiding bigotry

Pretending To Care

Today I am your chariot horse
Tomorrow I'm your albatross
Suspended by the finest thread
No one could ever see
And when there's breathing in your ear
You put your faith in all you hear
But just how deep those feelings go
I have no way to know
I'll never know

If I was blind
Would you still be my eyes
Or hide everything you see
Pretending to care about me
When all the time
You're just wishing I'd fade away
You just can't bring yourself to

Say out loud the reasons why
You won't admit you realize
The promise you've been living by
Is just an empty shell
You'll come to bear it like a cross
Then start to tear it like frayed gauze
Though I'm ashamed to be afraid
I just can't help myself
Can't help myself

Hodja

Hodja please show me how to spin now
Hodja please show me how you do it
All the other boys are laughing at me again now
Hodja please show me how you do it
Whenever I talk they don't hear a thing
And everyone laughs when I sing

Hodja, please show me how to spin
I want to do that dance 'til I forget where I am
So get up out of your bed one more time
Hodja, make me spin

Yeah, teach me to spin like I seen you do
Why don't you make me the envy
	of the kids in school
I know what to wear, I know how to sound
I know about kissing the ground

From every alley in Konya
Mevlana sings "Turn around, turn around
You've got to spin 'til your feet leave the
	ground"
Hodja, someday soon you will be moving on
So won't you let me be the one
	you lay the secret on
And it's a 2 4 6 8, take it from the top
You've got to start me up and don't let me stop

Lost Horizon

Now I guess it's too late to speculate
On things as they might have been
That given the time, you'd read my mind
And know there was love within
I could loudly exclaim we felt the same
But not in all honesty
Now you'll never know
How could you know the friend that you had in me

I've got so much to learn now
Lessons I never had
When you lose a friend forever
Hurts so bad
Ooh it hurt me so bad

I had always believed that you and me
Were connected by destiny
But the time never came
It sounds so lame
Is it all just my vanity?
Am I the only one to feel the sun
Exactly the way I do?
When you sang how you felt I'd tell myself
Maybe someday I'll sing with you

I've got so much to hope for
Dreams that I've never had
When you've got no one to share them
Hurts so bad
Ooh it hurt me so bad

I have an ideal I think is real
But I just can't find it
I believe that one day
I'll melt away into that lost horizon

Ooh it hurt me so bad
That you had an ideal you knew was real
And you went out to find it
And you found it one day
You've gone to stay into that lost horizon

Something To Fall Back On

If I gave you just a bit more time
Do you think that you would make up your mind?
You can't expect that a flower will grow
Until you get around to giving it more
Like it's only

Something to fall back on
Something to fall back on
Something to fall back on

Like a crumpled dollar hidden in your hat
For the subway home when there's no welcome mat
You'd be left with nothing if it weren't for that
When you need to find it it's right behind you

Remember when you were the talk of the town
And you didn't care if I was around
But still you kept me in the back of your head
Just like the teddy bear that you took to bed
I was only something to fall back on

And to wake up lonely is your deepest dread
So you stay connected by a tiny thread
Though you'd rather try for something else instead
When you need to find me I'm right behind you

I know I'm only
Something to fall back on

I don't know what makes me think I've the right
To tell you what is most important in life
But after all I guess I just don't care
And if you need me I will always be there
'Cause when I just imagine how it will be
Then I guess it's something to fall back on
Something to fall back on for me

I need to know you'll need me sometime
Everybody needs somebody to fall back on
Fall back on me
Nobody's going nowhere
You can call me anytime
You can fall back on me
You can call on me
I'm waiting on you babe
When your world is falling down
And there's no one else around
And you're sitting, waiting by the phone
You can call me and I won't leave you alone

Miracle In The Bazaar

As Jalaludin Rumi has prophesied
This day
This day Allah
Allah will make his presence known to you

There is a miracle in the bazaar
There is a miracle in the bazaar
There a spirit appeared in flaming green
Mamun the madman is cured

Praise be to Allah
Praise be to Allah
There is no God but God
There is no God but God

Lockjaw

Look out children
Mothers hide all the children who lie
Lockjaw's coming with a rusty nail
He's gonna nail your mouth open wide
Look out children
Boys and girls who do falsify
From the Black Forest with a hammerhead
He's looking for you with a rusty eye

In the Black Forest, lives an ogre named Lockjaw. Lockjaw doesn't like children
who tell lies. Late at night he stalks the houses of the fibbers and the
falsifiers, and before they can cry out from their beds, he nails their jaws
open with a rusty nail, using his head for a hammer. You may escape him for a
while and think you fooled him, but he'll get you in the end. He'll get ya!
HE'LL GET YA!!

Lockjaw's coming
Hide your heads, all you lying children
Mothers hide all your lying children
Fathers hide all your lying children

Look out mothers
Telling lies to a gullible child
Lockjaw's coming with a rusty nail
He'gonna nail your mouth open wide
Look out Fathers
Teachers and leaders who do falsify
From the Black Forest with a hammerhead
He's looking for you with a rusty eye

Many people wonder "Could such a terrible tail be true? Who would make up such
a terrible tale?" It seems such a cruel punishment for such a tiny little lie.
Well, I've got to confess. It's a fib. I made it up myself. It's pretty funny,
don't you think? Ha, ha ha! Gag, gag, gag!!!

Honest Work

I'm not afraid to bend my back
I'm not afraid of dirt
But how I fear the things I do
For lack of honest work
My family is lost to me
They could not bear the hurt
To see the state their boy is in
For lack of honest work

I hold no blame for anyone
'Twas I who did arrange
To pay my union dues so I'd
Not have to learn or change
And when I was replaced, 'twas I
Who started down the hill
And drank away my savings 'til
I couldn't stop myself

The prophets of a brave new world
Captains of industry
Have visions grand and great designs
But none have room for me
They see a world where everyone
Is rich and smart and young
But if I live to see such things
Too late for me they come

I know I'm not the only one
To fall beneath the wheel
Such company can not assuage
The loneliness I feel
So many are resigned to be
Society's debris
But I will be remembered for
The life life took from me

For I'm not afraid to bend my back
I'm not afraid of dirt
But how I fear the things I do
For lack of honest work

Mighty Love

Once there was a boy and girl
Boy said "I love you so"
Girl said "I'll never leave you"
They grew older and left each other
'Cause that's the way love goes

Then there's a time
Seems like you'll never find
Someone willing to love you
Keep on looking you'll soon discover

A mighty love
Can sometimes make a weak man moan
Said a mighty love
You sit all day by the telephone
'Cause you're all alone
You need a mighty love

Some say that you're sure to find
True love and piece of mind
At the end of the rainbow
There's no sign in the sky to follow
'Cause that's the way love goes
And so there's a rhyme
That says life will soon be fine
Love is just what you make it
Keep on loving, you'll soon discover

A mighty love
Can sometimes make a weak man strong
A mighty love
Can sometimes make a rich man weep
And knock him off his feet
To have a mighty love
