Utopia at Highline Ballroom

It has been several days since the concert, and no one has posted a review. My guess -- we are speechless. Having come to Utopia consciousness in 1977 during the RA tour, I never knew of Todd Rundgren's Utopia until they had already come and gone. Of course, I soon discovered the early version of the band and have listened to their music for thirty plus years. Never in my wildest imagination did I entertain the possibility of witnessing that which I saw on Sunday, January 30, 2011. What a magnificent treat! As can be expected, there were imperfections, but this is tough music and by now we've all come to expect a few minor flaws -- it is part of the charm. The energy in the room was palpable, and it was great to be there for Moogy. In fact, while waiting on line to get in (we were among the first ten people on line), my friend had his t-shirt signed by Moogy as Moogy made his way to the venue.

Unfortunately, I was using the facilities next door -- damn the aging bladder! It was also cool when Todd thanked us "Utopians." I really do feel that we are a unique "Band of Brothers" (and sisters). If you were not there, rent the webcast -- it is well worth it!
