Keswick review

Last night's show at the Keswick was simply incredible. I had refrained from watching any of the clips from previous shows on YouTube so wasn't sure what to expect. Despite some negative reviews I thought Todd's piano playing was great and I didn't expect him to be playing it on so many tunes. Seeing the songs from 'Todd' performed live was a thrill - "Lord Chancelors Nightmare Song" - how the hell does he memorize all those lyrics?! "Everybody's Going To Heaven" and "Heavy Metal Kids" were alone worth the price of admission. All the backing vocals were tight throughout the night especially Kasim - and Todd and Jesses guitar playing was stellar of course. In addition to Todd's 'jig' during "Golden Goose", Prairie's dance moves and tap dancing provided the humor. The unexpected highlight of the night for me was the intro to Shine with just TR and piano on the stage - many goosebumps in the crowd on that one. Other highlights were the way they moved the instruments on and off the stage, the light show and lasers, and just Bobby Strickland in general - just an amazingly talented multi-instrumentalist. The only small complaint, which I heard from several others as well, was that it wasn't loud enough...maybe this was because it was the Pay Per View concert and they needed to control the sound levels? Ultimately it did not take away from another dream concert for TR fans - thanks again to Rundgren Radio for hooking this up and to Todd for putting together another amazing show.
