Woodstock Johnson Tour

Well , what a great surprise. Got an email on my blackberry Tuesday morning, Todd was back in Woodstock. Folks, that is hands down the best place to see him play. A really intimate environment with a great crowd. Small enough to see everything. As a matter of fact, it was like having Todd play in your livingroom. Maybe this late addition to his tour and it being a weekday slimmed the crowd, but that just made it better. Standing in the reception area before Todd went on, I looked up and saw Donald Fagen stroll in. Nice to see these guys give Todd the respect he deserves. The sound was terriffic, after the overly loud Englewood NJ tour, just the perfect mix.

Some amazing songs that stand out( I always swear I will write down the list , but get sucked into the show and forget), were Bleeding and Red Hot from the Johnson Tour. Of course Black Maria, what can you say, nuff said. Mystified also just spun its web around you as you listened. Went to the Mirror was a pleasure to hear. This is one of those obscure Todd songs brought back by this tour. I saw the light( ok Todd thats really stretching the blues). I honestly cannot remember all of the Johnson Tour songs but they were terrific, supported by a very well miked and mixed sound. He ended his show with Hamburger Hell. Wow.

Once again go to the Bearsville Theater you will not regret it.
