04/20/08 -- Charlotte Show

Todd rocked Charlotte Sunday night. My daughters Amy and Angela and I showed up two and half hours before showtime and conversed with the other Todd fans in line. After a thirty minute opening act, Todd and the band came on and blew the roof off of the Neighborhood Theatre. Not only did Todd and the band sound phenomenal, but all four really seemed to be having a great time on stage. I was glad to see Todd do "Soul Brother" instead of "I Hate My Frickin ISP" not because I dislike the song, but because "Soul Brother" is a better song. I saw the same show in Atlanta last May and I thought this one was better. Todd seemed to have polished the rough spots. "I Saw the Light" was better and sounded much more like the album version. The intro and the guitar break were much better than in Atlanta.

The encore was great, including "One World" and "Worldwide Epiphany." At the end of the show, Jesse threw his guitar pick on the stage and Amy picked it up. Then, Prairie handed her one of his drum sticks. Big night for her.

I hope Todd and the band come back to Charlotte -- we will be there to see him! If I have to drive 250 miles to Atlanta, I'll go see him, but having him in Charlotte was great.
