Show Expectations

After reading Melbourne reviews and Todd's interest in responding, I may be concerned about my upcoming trip to the Baltimore show. I have no concerns or reservations about the obvious talent and genius of Todd...I am always waiting for the next phase of his never ending exploration into his soul, our souls , and what he is moved to express musically. I feel Todd hasn't "peaked " shall we say, at all- and who knows what he may discover in himself to express...I guess concerned or worried fans just want to see him at his best and not appear to be redundant with his live performances. The solo tour was STELLAR...remember how Todd really projected and played his "non-redundant" arrangements....ex. "Beloved Infadel ". I had hoped that "Ethel " might accompany Todd during this show as an example of something new and interesting. I have had my picture taken with Todd and spoken at length with him before a show (Trio-Harrisburg,PA) and I must say he was kind, engaging and compassionate. At each show I have seen, I look for these elements, coupled with that awesome stage persona akin to Nearly Human/Second Tour. For some reason, fans, such as myself, are compelled to see as many shows as often as possible and our familiarity with the shows and Todd may exceed what some music lovers would consider normal. The only reason I think that we would go as often as we do would be to see or hear something new and see something in him that tells us he is in good spirits and good form. This personal interest in Todd is significant-I believe well intended- and seems to give us permission to critique. I feel certain that this kind of connection would be difficult to make with other artists - must be some, but I doubt many. If Todd reads commentary such as this one, he should know that we are all connected in spirit...that we all want the best and most positive energy to flow...and that our regard for each other exceeds temporary "slow moving" negative energy influences such as negative attitudes and poor monitor systems. Todd is a working musician and songwriter whose gifts and resources are still boundless. How he chooses -and how long he chooses to share these gifts is completely up to him. My wish is for him to enjoy himself, enjoy peace of mind and enjoy this crowd of folks who, when are in his presence at a show, are wishing him the best.
