Canyon Club Review

Just got back from the Todd and the Liars show at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA. My overall impression of the night was it was kind of boring and I'm glad I didn't pay to get in or I'd be pissed!

Most of the problem last night was again the sound mix - I hear Todd does not employ an actual mixer anymore, but has the road manager do it. What a cheapass MF Todd has become. The band played their asses off - its just too bad you couldn't hear them. Imagine "Just One Victory" without hearing Kasim's stellar voice singing the background part - well thatís what we got last night. There was also no low end in the mix, no punch and that makes for a pretty flat sound sounding show. Most everyone around me seemed to agree. They looked pretty sleepy by the end.

On the good side "I hate my frickin ISP" and "Liar" were really good. I thought "While my guitar gently weeps" was pretty cool too. But a solo version of "Lunatic Fringe"? Why did he play that?

The lights were very cool. The costumes were excellent.

All these past years shows have been hit or miss. The power trio of 2000 was so good...... I keep going because I like his music and I don't have to pay. This show was pretty forgetable.
