Glasgow Carling show 17th July

I very much enjoyed seeing Todd Rundgren after a gap of 25 years! I last saw him in the Venue in London after the release of 'Hermit of Mink Hollow " .That time I travelled from Edinburgh to London to see him and took in three shows during his residency at the Virgin Venue.

This time I travelled down from Shetland to Glasgow to see the band, so another lengthy trip.

Not disappointed in the least. Hermit was a very fine album and likewise Liars is a favourite of mine at present. The Carling seems like a good place to see bands, Good to discover a good new venue in Glasgow after the closure of the fruitmarket.

I'd recently unearthed a tape of " Nearly Human " and was reminded how much I liked that album when it was released, so I was well pleased to hear " Feel It " and " Want of a Nail " . "Mammon " from the new album has some great lines and was one of the highlights of the gig for me. Difficult to follow the live version of " Liars " with anything given the force it was delivered with.

A real treat to see and hear Todd again.
