Better late than never...

from the balcony the sound was not too great - muffled too often for comfort. I thought this was a decent set list with a couple of big reservations: Green Onions was played SOOOOO badly - ham-fisted and embarrassing (the guitar and keyboards were plain stomach-churningly BAD), and Born To Synthesize was a great idea if it had been kept to the length it warranted, about 2-3 minutes or so, but the solos were ridiculously self indulgent, tedious and spoiled the flow of the set.

The good stuff was really good - Todd in great voice, an excellent selection from Liars including a tremendous version of Sweet, and the second half Soul review generally worked well. The positive stuff was the focus on new material, but I thought the backing band could improve; most of the right notes are there but they came across as more utilitarian than anything else.

Love the new album, great to see Todd again and an enormous raspberry to the moaners (and there were plenty in the crowd) who wanted to hear all the old favourites.
