Asheville-Orange Peel show

I finally got to see one of my favorite all time musicians when I went to the TR show at the Peel. And I was not disappointed. He started w/ Lysistrata, which sent chills through the crowd, mostly for its relevance, and let everyone know that his voice was still strong after all these years. He also has a great sarcastic sense of humor and knows how to handle a crowd, esp. when he commented that he had "never seen so many goddamned hippies in one place before." The last time he had been in Asheville, he told us, was back in 1972. He played guitar, then piano, then guitar again, ukulele, some with a twist stuff, and ended with guitar. He graciously played 3 encores on the piano, signed LPs & CDs and was very warm with the crowd. Even if you are not a very big fan or very familiar with his songs, I would recommend that you check this tour out. He may never be solo like this again. It's definitely worth it!
