Todd in Indianapolis

The American Rib Fest is a fine bit of excess to close out the summer. Held in the too-crowded parking lot of the Murat theatre in downtown Indianapolis, Todd attracted a healthy crowd of dedicated followers. Quite a few of us Rundgren Junkies dragged along our kids, and pretty much all the kids were wearing the same glum expression of those obeying against their will.

Todd started solo with Love of the Common Man, followed by Cliche. The band then came out and the rest of the set list went something like this: Hit Me Like A Train, Buffalo Grass, Love Is The Answer, I'm Looking At You (not sure I've ever heard this one live before), Hello It's Me and closing with Rock Love. I might be forgetting one. Todd's voice improved nicely as the show went on. Although he kidded us about being full of BBQ and beer, the crowd was on their feet and moving to the music.

At the urging of the kids, we left after Todd's set, before Hall and Oates. Of course, we would have liked more Todd, but I'm sure Todd doesn't mind the short shows. We're just happy to be able to see him once again.
