The small but spirited audience greeted Todd with a unique wooden birthday cake with carved figures & a candle while singing Happy Birthday.
He started with IHMFISP & we realized we weren't going to be able to hear his guitar & vocals too well, but it was a super show, anyway. My friend, Eric Lund was witnessing his 57th TR show, 3rd of the birthday variety, so we knew what we were supposed to be hearing. Kaz seemed a bit uncomfortable at first, but quickly settled in, had a great show & even hopped offstage between encores w/o crutches. Trey, a perfect fit on drums & vocals, reminded me of Bev Beven of ELO fame. We got what seems to be the current Trio set, with Hit Me Like A Train the only variable tune, much to my enjoyment. ( Al Green coulda made a real comeback with this one) All 6 songs performed from One Long Year, including the traditional version of Love of the Common Man, could be hits, but how many times in the last 30 years have we said that? Todd said that since his dad had worked decades @ DuPont, he couldn't think of a better way to spend his birthday than with his caucasian friends from the first state. We felt privileged.
