A Taste of Todd – July 5th, 2001 - Chicago

The "Walk Down Abbey Road" ensemble made a brief stop at "A Taste of Chicago" to give folks something to listen to while they devoured not only the worst tasting food, but also the worst smelling food that had no right to have any festival named after.

Chicago brags about its "Chicago Style Pizza." Hey, it’s all salted cardboard to my taste buds - which probably explains why Chicagoans have a tendency to dump a load of sausage, green peppers, pepperoni, anchovies and, well, you name it, on top of that monstrosity to make it have any flavor at all. The east coast is where pizza’s at. And that’s the name of that tune.

Pardon my outburst.

Now, let’s move on to the music. The orchestra played hits composed by each member. The players gave a stellar performance – not a turkey tune in the batch. The sound was great. The atmosphere was perfect. Todd was the standout. No surprise here.

The second set was all Beatles tunes. The sound was great. The atmosphere was perfect, though the sun continued to beat down on everyone’s face well into the early evening. "Here Comes The Sun" is a nice, breezy tune. But it took on a whole new meaning when it was performed under the umbrella of a hot, bleaching sun.

A good time was had by all, even though the food stunk.
